Dolphins close in on Bears' Adam Gase for coach - Chicago

Good news for Tannehill, probably. Cutler had a productive season under Gase and Gase seems to be good at working with QB's. Still, at age 37 and on his first NFL coaching job, I'm not really sure how he's going to handle a volatile locker room like the one the Dolphins have.

Gase has never impressed me

Always has seemed like a hot name for a coaching job the last few years, not sure how he will handle being a head coach.

Coughlin, Patricia or even Kelly would have scared me more than this. Obviously we won't know for sure until he's coached for a season or two but right now I'm pretty happy with that hiring as a Pats fan.

What's that mean for Campbell? Back to his old job or does he kinda have to be giving the boot?

Don't know how the fit is for him in Miami. As you said, it's not the friendliest locker room and his inexperience might hurt. However he will likely help Tannehill.

Are:

Manning
D. Thomas
Decker
Welker
J. Thomas

coming with him? No, then no worries.

His resume is coaching maybe the most talented offense in NFL history and then coaching Cutler into the bottom half of the league in yards/TDs.

Back to being a Social Justice Warrior.

There are 3 things horribly wrong with the Dolphin job, and those are just the top 3 and NONE of them have anything to do with how much talent is on or off the team. These are the 3 things I'm sure BB warns each of his students to beware of before taking a job.

1. Will the owner be satisfied to do HIS job, not yours. Well he support you during adversity, because adversity will come.'

2. If you are not the GM, then can you work with guy who is. Do you both have the same vision of how to build a team. You don't always have to like the same players, but you must have the same "vision".

3. Is there enough of a leadership corps to build a "team on". Not necessarily the best players but the guyswho you look on to be your leaders in the locker room

THEN you worry about what the roster looks like for talent and who your QB is, etc

Now lets look at Miamis's situation.

a. The owner doesn't do much of anything other than go to games and make stupid statements. He is not a good owner

b. Your boss will be Mike Tannenbaum. - Do I need to say any more.

c. You team leaders are Suh and Tannyhill - Need I say anymore. (BTW - I think Tannyhill is a much better QB than he is a leader.....and Suh......is a narccistic sociopath.

There are some good things about the job. It doesn't snow. Girls run around half naked all the time.....and it's not hard to have someone you don't like killed on the cheap. I think their QB is better than average and still has some upside and you you have 2 very good young receivers. But ultimately you will fail there because of those 3 reasons. It is only the amount of success you get that is yet to be established.

Don't forget that during the bad old days of the 60's 70's and 80's, the Pats STILL managed to have 2 pretty good teams every decade whether we asked for them or not. ;)

Lets not forget that BB came by these rules from hard experiences that we all know well. Belechick couldn't sign his resignation from the Jets fast enough after he got a closer look at Woody Johnson, and NOTHING Johnson has done in the least 16 years would change that opinion.....just confirm it. Kraft at least got better at his job, and left BB to do HIS job.

I'm sure Patricia and McDaniels both want to be HC's in the league before Goodell completely manages to destroy it. However I'm very happy that they both stayed away from Miami, and I'm sure Bill is too.

Gonna flop like McDaniels.

Will admit though that, considering the last couple coaches hired there, it's probably the best hire that they have had in a while.

Gase is good with quarterbacks, so I imagine Tannehill will improve. As for the rest of it, that remains to be seen.

Everyone here in Chicago knew that Gase was long gone.

I am surprised he decided to latch on with that farce of an organization down in Miami. I thought there were much better options for him out there...

He must think he can work well with Tannehill. Not to mention coaching in South Beach isn't that bad of a gig.

He's got some talent there..but alot of bad contracts

Sounds like Mcdaniels will have his pick of Tampa Bay,Tennesee,NY Giants.
I still say Tenn uber talented qb good receiving corps lots of draft picks ownership wants to win.
Small town feel so not the pressure the NYG job would have.
Rebuilding franchise.
Nice enough city.
Great food

Yep that would be my choice.

What do people there think of Fox and the job he's done so far? It seemed like he had the Bears on a bit of a roll mid-season, then they tanked. I'd like to see the Bears do well and was disappointed they went with a retread like Fox when they could've had Arians or maybe someone else with Chicago connections.

Fox is an average coach. Not horrible but not someone who will baffle you with brilliance.

I love the city of Nashville. Everything about it.

I dunna know. Both Josh and his wife are from Ohio. The ClE job might have some allure but for JMDs sake I hope not.

The problem is that owner is a wackjob.

Not to mention familiarity with the Colts and, to a lesser degree, the Texans.

This is where I've thought he should go from the start. He won't be run out of town in a year in Tenn.

If reports that Giants were also making a push for him are true, I think this is a dumb move on his part to go to that clusterfudge organization instead of Giants.
He has a background similar to McDaniels- started as a student assistant at MSU under Saban, He was on Josh's staff in Denver as a WR coach so he has had good concepts training.

Gase has been a hot prospect and now gets a job to prove his worth...everything else is pure speculation. I hope he crashes and burns..
