Anyone else think the Pats WON'T go out of their way to embarrass the Colts?

I know we're all talking about it but honestly I don't think they'll do it. They may be seeing them again this year plus I don't get the sense that they want any kind of "revenge" nor have a lot of contempt for that organization. They just want 5-0 and that's it.

Now IMO if it was the Ravens this week... that would be a different story.

I think they will calmly and cooly go up and down the field as much as the Colts let them. The game isn't a gimme no matter what we say, and the Dolts just might wake up and actually come up with a tough game plan against us. BB won't let them get too hyped up, which will work against a win. I think the only clue we'll have of the intent to embarass will be the force of the spikes after a TD, and later, the film from the lockerroom if it's a resounding win.

We will definitely embarrass them. We'll run up the score, and hopefully the players will mock Indy during their (many) TD celebrations.

I can't decide which one I would prefer: posting a gigantic number of points (something like 60) or just completely shutting them out at home and seeing a goose egg on the scoreboard. Ideally, it would be both - but I'm not sure how realistic that is.

I hope Brady gives Luck a noogie after the game.

I don't think there will be any mocking. It's not the Pats' style. Brady is on a mission. If he gets a win on Sunday, he's going to march out of the stadium on to the next one.

This team and their FO is the main reason why Brady had to go through a bunch of unneeded crap this offseason. Of course they're going to go out of their way to embarrass the Colts.

I don't get the sense that they .. have a lot of contempt for that organization.

Remember the Bill Belichick "A football life" two part episode? One scene has Brady coming into Belichick's office, and he says "Colts week, my favorite team, ha-ha!"

There has ALWAYS been an undercurrent of contempt for that organization. Listen to Tedy Bruchi speak about them!

I think the Patriots' big advantage is that they are going to treat this like any other game. Which is to say they are going to try to score every time they have the ball and prevent to Colts from scoring every time they have the ball. If the Patriots are successful, it will look like they were trying to run up the score and humiliate the Colts. But this is what they do every week.

The Colts seem intent on making a big deal out if this for reasons that will forever remain a mystery to me. If you think a mideseason game is your Super Bowl, what happens when you lose?

One of the underrated parts of Belichick's coaching ability is his ability to manage a locker room. He seems to have an uncanny ability to know when the team needs to get their ass kicked, when they need praise, when it will serve them well to eat some humble pie and when it will serve them well to let them twist the knife.

He may very well think that the best thing is to never let off the gas. Or he might think that the best thing to do is to manage the game in a way that sends a clear message to the players that the Colts aren't good enough to deserve our scorn.

Lot of words to say "In Bill I trust" I guess, but that's how I feel. I don't think there's anyone with a better gauge on the state of the team than Bill.

There is a reason that on certain occasions BB will not shake hands or at least gives a quick FU handshake at the end of the game. He has emotions but he can control them and distribute them when it won't effect the game.

I'm sure the Colts will get the best the Patriots can deliver for all 4 quarters.

Get ready Indy. The FU Karma Train is on the way.

We need to pummel them in methodical fashion....trying to stay as professional as possible. I do not want to see Brady exposed to injury in a route. Finish as we started and if that leads to a team record then so be it.

The penalty for injuring Brady or Gronk or Edelman will be minor compared to the hero worship it will produce ... we need t0 keep our guard up to the last whistle.

My only question is how would we be able to tell? Final scores from the last couple games kinda look like rubbing it in anyway. I guess an all game hurry up offense and the absence of that bend but don't break defense would be a pretty good sign. I'm all for 72-0. But in reality it will probably be a 28-10 type game.

Agreed. I don't see why people are writing this off as a slaughter. The Colts are coming off a 10-day rest for a game at home on national TV.
