Went out early this morning to play 18 and turned on sports talk, we do not get 98.7 here, so was forced to listen to the Bobsey Trio; Dennis, Minihane and Bradford was replacing Callahan, on the way they did not talk about the game, but about Brady and footballs.. got off the course and did some errands. WEEI was still the only choice and Bradford was defending Tomase.. and what a good writer he was, despite the lies he spread, blah, blah, blah.

Got in range of 98.7... Toucher and Rich were being their silly selves, but I expect that. Picked up something, came out and was listening to Hardy and Flynn with Hardy taking the lead that the preseason was no longer necessary.. stopped by to do another errand, thought would switch to WEEI again.. .and there he was in all of his resplendent glory Gary Tanguay.. so it switched back to Flynn and Hardy discussing the necessity of preseason football.

Does any of these guys realize that there was a football game last night, even though it was preseason there is a lot to talk about.. except on sports talk radio.

I want to pull my hair out, there is the continual discussion of either about "me the very important the radio guy" or deflategate.. it is time to talk about this team.. there are only so many ways to frame this, and only so many people they can call to try to strike a response.. either that or they are trying to talk louder than the other host.

Thought it was telling when an attorney with Federal District Court experience called Dennis, and gave a very good legal explanation as to what was going on.. and Dennis said something like yada, yada, yada!!! But when someone called with a differing opinion Dennis loved the argument.. we are in the middle of a double toilet bowl flush.. and these guys are not getting it.

I agree, it really is ridiculous how pompous and self righteous most of these guys have become.. btw isn't it 98.5? maybe that is contributing to your reception issues..?

I listen when driving ... but I don't expect much ... I have low expectations.
They exist to turn a profit ... they do not exist to be informative.

IMO if all they did was get interviews and take calls I'd be perfectly fine with that.
I like the interviews ... even when it's a skewed or sour position ... whatever we all have sports biases.

Attempts to steer opinion and troll are why they lose listeners .... but they keep trying.

No because I live in Southern RI.. their signal does not reach here.

I was going to post a thread on the state of Boston Sports Talk.
I gave up on Felger and Mazz. Agenda talk.
I gave up on Zo when Andy Gresh left (I liked Andy) and I got sick of talk about bad music and other stupid topics.
I went back to EEI for MFB and Michael Holly and Jerry Thornton.
I change channels or stations whenever I hear Tanguay and/or Minihane. They keep trying to convince us they know more about football than Bill Belichick. Yegads.
So like DarrylS, I'm out in my car this morning and there is Tanguay on EEI. He is bad mouthing Matt Chatham (another one of my favorites, doesn't give the usual pap and doesn't try to create controversy). Then he praises the Paul Perillo/Andy Hart segments on the telecast as great TV and how great and knowledgeable they are. I like PP and am somewhat put off by Andy's arrogance, but, their slot on those telecasts becomes one of the most useless 2 minutes during a game. They don't seem to serve any purpose and don't seem to say anything that wasn't obvious to the rest of us before the game began.
It sounded like Tanguay was trying to ingratiate himself with someone to get more work. I hope they don't bring him in to replace Benz.
I already listen to more NPR and WRKO than I want, please don't make it more

Listening to Tanguay & Tonic now. I need a gun.
I've been hearing that Tanguay might join the WEEI midday show. The show is weak enough, add Tanguay and it's 100% the worst sports talk show on either station.

Sports radio is good here and there. I like T&R in the morning. Zolak and Bertrand are OK. D&H is alright. F&M have been awful in the deflate gate coverage but previously I found it entertaining. Adam Jones sucks. Felger Jr.

Underwhelming recently but there's not much else to listen to unless I put on a podcast that I like.

I find the thread title to be oxymoronic: "The downfall of sports talk radio". Huh?

That implies that Sports Talk Radio was at an elevation from which it could have fallen to a lower level, which I regard as impossible. It's already as low as it could possibly go. That's part of the fun of listening to it; you have no expectations whatsoever and occasionally get surprised when someone says something vaguely intelligent or useful.

the good thing about tanguay, is he is giving us valuable insight into how the wells investigation went. He decided early on that brady was guilty, so any evidence he hears he decides proves guilt, anything that implies no guilt is ignored. then he just makes up the rest to fill in the blanks

Thank god for 105.7 (songs of the 60's, 70's, and 80'd) My patience for sports radio talk is getting smaller by the day. I'm at about 2 minutes right now, and that's on a good day. For Pats talk, I've gone back to WEEI for Dale, Holley, and Thorton. For the rest of the time, its NPR or 105.7 for me when I'm in the car.

espn radio is even worse.
try listening to ryen rusillo and danny kannel. holy ****..somebody kill me!

Tanguay is a recycle. This region has been dealing with his value-less coverage of this region's sports teams for far too long. Hes awful.

R.e. sports talk radio...anyone old enough to remember the sports huddle w Eddie andelman will recall the days when sports radio was fun & not filled with trolls and contrarians....Eddie, mark, and jim actually liked and rooted for the home teams....

Exactly. A caller brought up the point on how there is no direct evidence and called Tanguay & Tonic out.. T&T's rationale is that....
- McN could have deflated 12 balls in 90 seconds
-Text messages with the words..deflator, ESPN, needle...
-Brady freaked out after the 16psi game and had Jaz tell McN what to do.

That is and that is your Wells Report and that is what T&T believes as gospel

Eddie drove people nuts too but overall he was a fan.

The Hot Dog Safari season was unbearable....

Same here. I haven't listened to the radio in years. I get a kick out of all the hair pulling I read about here.

yeah i actually texted the show, because i cant call, but his explanation for the jets game is "mcnally didnt get the job done".

I texted: then why did jastremski's text to his fiance say "they were supposed to be 13" and "the refs fcked us". Wouldn't they have said "hey deflator, wtf?"

but they didnt comment on my text so i have no idea if they read it.
