2006 TE stats:
1. Antonio Gates had 924 yards in 16 games (13.0 ypc)
2. Tony Ganzelez had 900 yards in 15 games (12.3 ypc)
3. Kellen Winslow 875 yards in 16 games (9.8 ypc)
4. Alge Crumpler 780 yards in 16 games (13.9 ypc)
5. Todd Heap 765 yards in 16 games (10.5 ypc)
6. Jason Witten 754 yards in 16 games (11.8 ypc)
7. Chris Cooley 734 yards in 16 games (12.9 ypc)
8. Ben Watson 643 yards in 13 games (13.1 ypc)
If Watson had played in all 16 games and produced on the same level he could have had a 792 yard season. That would have put him fourth in the league in '06, and as it was he was 8th in the league while only playing 13 games. Watson is young, and just starting to come into his prime, so he SHOULD be a top five TE in '07, especially with the offense he'll now have around him. I mean Watson was getting doubled during parts of the '06 season, especially when NE's WR's were struggling. How are defenses going to double Watson with Stallworth, Moss, and Welker on the field? Among the top 8 Watson was second in yards per catch.
