I'm not a lawyer, nor well versed in public relations. But it seems to me that the Patriots, and most importantly Brady, need to lay all the cards out on the table. Acting politely and diplomatically within the proper legal channels has only led to the cluster fu*k that now exists. So why not begin to use improper channels? The science is seriously flawed in the Wells report, that's clear to everyone. So why should Brady not commission separate scientific studies at Harvard, Yale, Princeton, MIT, Cal Tech, etc all examining the ball pressure. Brady should publicly release every txt message he ever sent to those ball boys. Have the phone company swear under oath that nothing was omitted. Hire a forensic team to watch thousands of hours of surveillance footage from 8 different stadiums covering every second that the ball boys had the balls.

DO EVERYTHING. Leave NO stone unturned. That is the ONLY way he will be able to possibly come out of this clean. Because right now he is f**ked. What is there to lose? Declare open PR war against the NFL and Ted Wells. Being diplomatic at this point is useless because the NFL is not playing by those rules. They've been playing dirty and now it's time for Tom to play dirty. Brady and Giselle are worth hundreds of millions of dollars. Even if it costs them 10 million isn't that worth saving Tom's reputation and legacy? Not to mention all the money he's now going to lose anyway because of all this.

Is there something I'm missing? Why wouldn't Brady do this?

You are assuming that reason can win over the detractors. That will never happen. Brady has two choices to shut them up:
  1. If he is not suspended, he play one last season as a GFY tour - run up the score every game, get to the playoffs, and win another SB. When he wins the MVP trophy, he holds it over his head and says, "GFY, Roger. I'm retiring on top."
  2. If he is suspended, he appeals the suspension. If overturned, go to option 1 above. If not, call a press conference and say, "GFY, Roger. I am retiring on top." Patriots then have to rebuild around JG for not defending Brady. Brady goes off and joins the PGA tour and does movie cameos for fun.
Honestly, I wouldn't blame him for taking his balls and going home given the way he is being treated by the league, the media, former teammates (Woody), and his organization. He doesn't need the rings, the money, or the abuse. He just won his 4th SB and was the MVP.

If that happens, we would then need the fans to abandon the team for a season and not buy tickets, not attend games, and not watch games. Boston is one of the largest media markets. It would sting the NFL.

I agree. Brady has already lost millions in brand equity from this debacle. I hope Brady goes all out and brings the NFL hell through the appeals process and a public relations assault.

I'm telling you right now, IF Tom Brady is suspended ONE game, the NFL won't see one ****ing penny from me next year. Not one God damned penny. The ONLY WAY to hurt the NFL for this farce of an investigation is to boycott the NFL next year. There is no reason to support a league that CONVICTS a person by finding him guilty via such a flimsy Investigation. To soil a GREAT players legacy with complete ******** is a total disgrace.

All of you mofos should follow me in my boycott, but I know you won't have the balls to follow me. One more note, why hasn't there EVER been an investigation into any other team's footballs ? You mean to tell me in the history of the PSI rule, all footballs have been compliant in every game that's been played ?

This is a complete disgrace, the fact that 3 out of 4 Colt's balls were under, yet that isn't an issue with the league, the fact that Minnesota/Carolina were caught heating up footballs on video, yet were given the courtesy of being told not to do it again, yet our Patriots were never given the same courtesy. This is a complete disgrace. **** the NFL, **** Goodell, and **** Kraft for not sticking up for Brady if he gets suspended.

If Brady doesn't fight back he will be forever known as a CHEATER, instead of the GOAT. All his hard work in vain. Fight the scumbags Brady, don't let them win. If you let them win you will be shamed forever.
They will always call him a cheater. Some of y'all need to get over this fact. As ******** and unfair as it is that's just how it's going to be outside of the region. And mind you there are in fact voices out there who aren't vilifying him but doing the opposite. I think as time passes there will be more voices who either believe Brady's innocence or treat the debacle for the gross overreaction that it was. Many will not. Once we get over that we can feel a bit better.

I'm choosing to tune out the nonsense. Pats fans and the sports fans of this region will have doubled down in support for Tom Brady, perhaps more than ever. We know this whole thing is a total farce and it will never diminish my admiration and fandom of Brady & Belichick. I guess above all else that is what matters. Nothing has happened that would make me question the character and integrity of Brady. If there was it would sting but that isn't the case and I'm certain it will never be.

....

In any case I obviously want Tom to fight these bastards whatever it takes but I am not going to let them ruin 15 years of epic fandom, whatever the outcome.

I'm looking into getting tickets to the opener. If Brady is suspended, I plan to stay for the banner raising then walk out of the stadium and protest in the parking lot. I would hope that many other fans at the game would do the same. That would send a message to the NFL on national TV.

I agree and here's what I said about Kraft in another thread. this should be a united scorched earth strategy.

Kraft's statement was weak sauce and I don't see how there is any doubt on that. I also don;t see the mast strategy here that others do. Stating that he will accept the penalty whatever it is is horrible strategy. I don;t care if there is really nothing he can really do, but he should have fired a shot across the bow of the NFL to make sure they know that he won't lie down and get beaten like a rug. Both his and Brady's strategy seems to be to speak softly, don't criticize too much and hope the NFL levies a small fine and then they can move on. We'll see, but I think that is naive to the nth degree. This strategy has allowed a national uproar about the Patriots being the ultimate cheater's of all time. It's almost as if they are in a cocoon and don't realize how bad it really is. This scandal can tarnish their legacy forever. Nationwide Brady and the Patriots are viewed as cheater over .3 psi taken out of a ball even if it is all true. I don;t see why kraft doesn;t get that Brady is synonymous with Patriots success. Even if Brady is the only one disciplined, (and i doubt it), that's the same thing in the public's perception. If Brady is a cheater, the Patriots are cheaters END OF STORY.

Despite how weak the evidence is, this will confirm the perception across the public AND the league that the patriots are only winners because they cheat. The fact that Brady was lights out in the second half with the back-up balls in the Colts game and had a great game against the best pass defense in the past 5 years with no running game to speak of, will be of no consequence. None.

Kraft should go balls to the wall in defense of Brady because it is a defense of his team and it's record of success. Don't sit back and take it, attack, be aggressive. Demand a league wide investigation of how footballs are treated, demand the phone record of all QBS, demand Aaron Rogers be investigated for trying to slip over-inflated balls past the refs. Threaten to blow it up, burn the crops and salt the earth. Demand the NFL investigate its own and the endless leaks all terribly damaging to the Patriots reputation. Air every ounce of dirty laundry you have against other owners and teams. Make sure they know there is a price to pay for their vendetta against the best player in the game and perhaps QB of all time over at best is Tom Brady hating balls over inflated by lazy refs pre-game.

If not, Bob, it is your teams reputation that is on the line as well. there is no real separation here.

Oh yeah- totally agree. Fact is, if Brady is suspended, I'll be done with NFL. I'll still support Brady and take shots at the haters on Twitter until whatever appeal is done. But I won't watch a single other game or buy a single other product again. Ever. If he's suspended it will be the most blatant attempt at fixing a sports league at the highest level. And it wouldn't be an openly known thing like wrestling. Those players put too much into competing to be in a league like that. I just won't support it. Period.

I feel brady is just too "chill" as a person. You saw him laughing and smiling in the interview.

I do think this will put a chip on his shoulder football wise to repeat as Super Bowl champs though.

if Brady is suspended, I will find Goodell and smash him in the face

I'm buying all NFL jerseys from China, from now on.

NFL isn't getting a penny of mine either.

Well, I don't see how that is really possible. Most of us come across fans of teams across the country and the patriots are cheaters dropped into conversations all the time even in the workplace. .3 psi is being viewed as the greatest cheating scandal all the time. I know that it had no bearing on anything as seen by the performance of Braxy since the half time of the Colts game. Sports conversations and debates with other fans are fun, but you know what, I'm tired of defending Brady and the Patriots. And it they will not defend themselves and simply sit back and take it, then neither will I. There is no going along to get along, there is only fighting at this point. If not they did it, whatever it was

If Tom Brady is suspended I'm done with Football. The league will have shown just how corrupt it is - and for it they will have lost one of those "valued" overseas fans that they want and I hope more follow suit.

Not having to stay up until 5am to watch the end of prime time games will be a benefit of quitting though ;)

If Brady was cheating, it would had been EXTREMELY EASY for the NFL to catch him.

Simply measure the pressure after the refs marked the balls. Videotape said measurement.
After Brady throws first pass, gather all Pats balls, and measure the pressure again. Give Brady back-up balls to continue the game. Videotape the measurement again.

If Brady and the Patriots cheated, they would have been caught so easy. In just a few minutes. On video for all to see.

Did the NFL did this? No, they went with a completly BS "investigation" which lasted for months, and concluded that "it's more probable than not" that Brady cheated. What a farce. Completely laughable.

I think there is the distinct possibility that both Tom Brady and Bill Belichick will resign next week.

Just a hunch, or is there something out there in mediot land that signifies this as a possibility?

Like I said. Best medicine for the NFL is have Tom and the whole Team boycott those games. The fans would have the NFL by the throat, even the haters.
