@SiriusXMNFL: . @GregJennings on finding new team "winning SB not #1 priority. Family, community, & being able to provide leadership is important to me"

Sorry Greg...your are washed up...go back to GB and stay away please :)

This is just my opinion, which is worth nothing, but I'm not sure I want a player on my team that says winning the Super Bowl is not his #1 priority.

At least say winning a Super Bowl is your #1 priority, even if you don't mean it.

Newman is awful and got benched in that Denver game. He got his lunch handed to him.

FA: Nice to meet you Coach Belichick!
BB: Likewise. Tell me, what is your approach to your football career?
FA: Well, lets see, community input and locker room atmosphere and leadership are important to me
BB: What about winning? Making a personal commitment to do whatever your job is to win?
FA: That's important, too. Along with my previous priorities.
BB: (silence)
FA: So, tell me more about the guaranteed money.
BB: Enjoy the flight to San Diego!

It tells me that the salary cap situation is not great right now. Pats can't compete with teams that can offer big money for good players.

We're right in the middle of the teams in the category space on payroll. DT , WR , RB, OL (Connolly is still there) are all luxuries that will be remedied in the draft. They dont NEED to sign any FA, except for CB, IMO. But, why overpay for a guy like Maxwell? Maybe they want to add a cheap vet and draft a CB.

If you notice that next year only two major players will be FA . And this year you can still make numerous maneuvers to increase the cap space , your statement is not supported .

Remember, that cap $ may be needed to cover trades for needed vet players.
With the comp picks coming our way in 2016, I could see us trading a couple 2015 AND 2016 picks for vets.

and has everyone here forgotten the 1 June cuts???

Well they can cross him off...

You hit the nail right on the head.

A better defensive back coach could help the younglings. I'm not a fan of the current secondary coach.
Don't the Pats have around $12 million on the cap available? I think they just dont want to overpay for players

Butler was awful against Miami (Wallace) and was benched before halftime. So what?

Correct and they still haven't tweaked the Solder or Mayo deals.

June cuts essentially don't exist anymore. Then again, the NFL doesn't do trades, either, and we've seen how that's gone this off season...

Sad about losing Johnson.. But it's okay, hopefully the WR depth is filled out with someone else. It hasn't been the best offseason so far to be sure but it's still very early. Happy to have kept McCourty and signed Chandler and Sheard for sure.

Newman is definitely not a young pup by any means but he would be valuable from a veteran leadership role. Even if he isn't an elite corner at this point, he's seen it all. There's so much he can pass down to guys like Butler and Ryan.

This team hasn't generally competed (your word) for big money players in free agency, regardless of the cap situation.

Jesus fans are acting like this is the first time the Pats havent spent big money infree agency
