Pats will not pick up Revis option this year

Those are tame comments for game day threads.

Just because he's not 100% confident than Revis signs here, he's the devil?

I will actually be surprised if he doesn't re-sign with the Pats. I just don't get the "Jets are the only other option" logic. If it's not NE, Buffalo seems like the better option to me. Obviously neither has a QB, but the Bills are a lot closer to the playoffs than the Jets. Combine that with the Rex factor + the defense he would be joining, and I think it seems like a better fit than the Jets if the money is close.

Somebody else can have Fitzgerald. We have enough downfield non-threats.

Yes, that was our DE getting pinned by a WR.

I see you corrected the mistake in your previous post. Good work. Only 49 more to go. You'll get there. Keep your head up. If all else fails, you can just add a little spice to your posts by adding additional letters to certain words for effectttttt. Just ask patsfanincleveland*.

* Cleveland is a city in Ohio (OH). Just trying to help you out.

For the 60th time..Buff will not be in on Revis. Pats or Jets...like it's been reported...

Based on the fact you proactively searched for my posts at the request of nobody, I'd say my residence is located in Yourbrainville. Great place -- Rent free.

yup..rent free and all the "Pats will go 7-9!" reminders the rest of your fetid, disgusting troll half-life.

Enjoy!

How do you know? It isn't knowable right now. Lots of teams have space.

Just because a team has space...doesn't mean revis will go there...

Many people have call Belichick dumb before. At this point only Belichick knows how much he is willing to pay, and perhaps he doesn't even know yet.
"people" calling Belichick dumb and Belichick doing something dumb are 2 very different things.

Just because reporters haven't speculated about a team doesn't mean Revis wont go there.

Revis is the key to the defense. He makes everything else work. They have to bring him back, they could have easily lived without McCourty, Browner can only handle certain receivers. He is great when he has a Revis or a Sherman on the other side. Seattle (now that they have lost Maxwell) will certainly overpay for him. The Pats should just pay him his contract, because he is not going to come cheaper.

But the very real situation exists that next year you will have a secondary of Arrington, McCourty, Chung, and Dennard. Even Geno can kill that secondary!

Why is everyone forgetting our SB hero, Malcolm Butler? He made more than just that one play, in the SB and during the season.

If I'm the Pats I offer Revis what I feel he's worth to our team and stick to that figure. If he leaves so be it.

1960Pats I think you would agree that while Butler has a knack for the ball and very good potential, he is not anywhere close to the same level of talent, ability and experience as Revis.

If Butler gets his snaps next year, you will get ~50% of what Revis would have given you- maybe.

Does that mean he can be legal tampered with now opposed to the illegal tampering he was getting this weekend?

No, all contact between other teams (the Jests) is still considered tampering until he is officially a free agent. Right now he's still a member of the Patriots and they still have exclusive rights to negotiate until 4pm today.

Not that this will matter, the Jets will continue to tamper and flaunt it infront of the Pats because they knew the NFL front office all wear green and white, so nothing will happen to them for breaking the rules

People panicking over nothing, Revis will be back at a much better number, as will Browner and thus so will the dominant Pats secondary which will be even better with a year under their belt of working together. As i mentioned in another thread i wrote 'it's fun times ahead for Pats fans'
I hope you're right and it's like the Amish rumpspringa in which they finish school and go to a big city for a week to "sow their wild oats" and then come back into the fold. Maybe the Pats told him to go see what's out there and then come back and we'll talk so you can judge the market....

I don't know why people are smashing the panic button. Perhaps they chose not to acknowledge that Jonathan's statement on the matter or that neither side saw it as realistic? It was always going to come down to a fresh contract. Now it's somehow big news to Pats fans.

All Pats news is big news. We own the NFL.

I don't care what happens. I'd like to see the Pats keep Revis, but if he's gone they'll replace him and may be just as effective on defense. Nothing this team does surprises me. From top to bottom they just seem to will good things to happen.

I admit I haven't read any of this thread, mostly because it was never a secret that the Pats weren't EVER going to pick up that $20MM option. I find it almost incomprehensible that the "official" notification could generate a 9 page thread with over 170 posts.

WTF guys. There are several threads on this site right now with thoughtful topics to post on. Patchick's thread on why the same teams suffer for so long is a good example of where you should spend your time, while we wait for some resolution with Revis and Browner.

I have no idea what you could have talked about for over 170 posts on this topic, and quite frankly....I'm afraid to find out. :D

@Kimjonessports said live from Florham Park that she doesn't think its likely Revis returns to Jets.

Its on twitter

I was thinking of Revis as #2, but because of the importance of the passing game and his ability to change the nature of the offense, I chose Gronk.

Definitely debatable, I was thinking of Gronk as well, but went with Revis as number two because of the importance of the passing game and his ability to just take someone out of the game.

Interesting that you're both using the importance of the passing game as the reason for your choice.

I have to go with Gronk. Both players are great all around players, but Gronk is more dominant. He's so good that he makes playing TE in the NFL look easy.

People really need to step back from the ledge and have a shot or something to calm the #%×& down.

This still isn't over, and worst case of Revis does leave, I'm pretty damn sure BB wouldn't get rid of Browner also...

They would move Browner if they had to in order to secure Revis, but if they can't keep Revis there is no way they do anything witu Browner
