Rex Press Conference

Man does have a way with words. This is a clever way to put down the previous coach/squad for the best thing they accomplished:

"As for defense, 4th in league in defense is disappointing. We're gonna lead the league in defense"

Can't stand the guy for he's a clown but, if Rex can figure out his QB position, this Bills team will be a very tough out.

That defense is going to be no joke for at least two years. The money years are going to be after that when he has to start replacing free agents that leave because they probably don't want to live in upstate New York anymore. Hopefully, the quarterback position will continue being a big question mark for them.

@realOBF: Rex on #Patriots: "We're not afraid of anybody...if they want to bring back Russ Francis and John Hannah at gaurd, we'll play them, too."

I SO wanted this a $$clown out of the AFCE.

I don't find him entertaining. I find him tedious. His act got old a long time ago

Someone on NFLN said "Rex Ryan won the press conference." Pretty par for the course :)

We have a game to win Sunday, will hate on Rex in the off-season, hopefully after the Pats are SB champs again.

Of course, when the time comes, it's hard to decide whether to hate the Bills on the same level as the Jets. They've always been a fairly benign blip on my Hatar screen in the past.

@CJSPILLER: Rex just dropped the mic when he got done speaking at the podium I can feel his energy just by watching this press conference

He's got the players hooked already :D

Why wouldn't Spiller buy in? Rex doesn't believe in throwing the ball. He wants a dominant defense and ground and pound on the offense. If I was a RB, I would love to play for Rex.

And i would hate to be the garbage QB on that team

I just can't see Ryan as a fit in Buffalo - he's everything Buffalo isn't (kudos to Buffalo). Great fan base up there...nowhere near the level of trash-talking stupidity I see with the Jets.

And yes, they have a very good defense.

Mario Williams turning 30 with cap hits next three years: 19.4, 19.9, 16.5...

Three linebackers (including Spikes), two DEs (including Jerry Hughes, 10 sacks each of last two years, and Jarius Wynn) and a starting safety (Searcy) are UFA...as is CJ Spiller.

They have no first round pick. They have no QB.

They are a solid team with some structural issues. I'm not going to underestimate them, but neither am I going to start the hand-wringing. Their DL has been playing top-notch for a couple of years now - whatever the coaches have been doing (grab and loop, anyone?), it's been working. I don't see Rexy Ryan suddenly creating some huge upswing in that unit, because it hasn't been the problem.

The problem is in the very same area that Rexy created with the Jets. I think Fox would be a much better fit in Buffalo and would do more with the current roster, honestly.

Ryan would likely have helped a team like the Patriots as a DC more than he will fix what ails Buffalo.

Ryan's first 2 years were better than Marrone's 2 years......still has nothing to do with loyalty

Ryan inherited a very talented team and helped to drive it into a horrible team. He failed to develop two QBs too.

Ryan's first two years were better, but he had more talent to work with out of the gate. And let's face it. His first year was a more luck than anything else since they backed into the playoffs with their last two games as a gift facing teams resting players for the playoffs. His second year was legit though.

Can you imagine if somehow Bill Belichick was hired in Buffalo and he said these exact words? Promising a superbowl? The fans hearts would explode and you'd believe it too.

I can imagine him having a similar arc to what he had at the Jets. Two great seasons with the roster he inherited and then it all sinks to suckdom.

Bottom line is that the Bills are/were an up and coming team.
This coaching hire could have made them a dangerous contender.
Instead they took a guy who can't help but ruin his offense, has horrific leadership qualities, and will now change the defense that was developing into a really good one, and make it worse.
This hire was very good for the Patriots.

Ryan is flawed but this is as good a team as the ones that he took to the AFCCG, imo. There's no doubt in my mind that they'll be our main threat for the division.

Rex isn't going to take anyone to the SB, though, because his coaching deficiencies become more pronounced later in the year. You can't be an idiot with time management when the margin for error is razor thin, like the playoffs.

He should have spend 3-4 years being a DC or Assistant HC somewhere like Belichick did after Cleveland went south. Taking no time to recover and learn lessons means that Rex will still have the same issues he did in NY.

Still, if I was a Bills fan I'd be stoked.

he is looking at the division and thinks

"hm.. brady is getting old. and he might just retire after 4th ring."
"Jets? lol"
"lolfins. nuff said."

dude is a simple man. he's gonna bring sanchez as a backup. he's gonna try to bring revis - pay him top $. he will probably have good year or two, but at the end of the day, he is a d coord masquerading as a coach.

Buffalo will in fact make the playoffs. This shouldn't surprise anyone at all.

The Bills will be the #1 seed in the April playoffs and the Jets will drop to the 2 seed.

Rex asked about getting back at the Jets: “I’ll be honest, it’s still the Patriots that I want the most."

- - Umm.....Rex, the Patriots have bigger, more important things on their plate right now. Keep fantasizing.

Someone already came up with this in another thread but it is appropriate here.

Can we get a restraining order against this ***clown stalker?

Mentioning Ground and Pound, leading the league in defense, and the playoffs are coming

@salmaiorana: Ryan: Gonna ground and pound it. As for defense, 4th in league in defense is disappointing. We're gonna lead the league in defense

@RichCimini: Rex: "We want to bring a championship to Buffalo....We have 1 ego. When he hired me, that ego got bigger."

@SportsCenter: "I know it's been 15 years since the Bills made the playoffs. Well get ready man. We're going. We are going." - Rex Ryan #LIVEonSC
