Chandler Jones season in jeopardy

Can we start sending Jamie Collins after the QB more often now?

I was expecting to see him used a lot more in a 'Von Miller' type role
Well we need to have some coverage from the linebackers too, and if the 3 LBs are Skinner/Collins/Hightower then Collins is the best coverage linebacker. Rather see us play 3-4 and Hightower and Ninkovich as outside linebackers close to the line. Hightower is strong and best when he is close to the line.

Even when he's back he might not be very effective. Talib wasnt quite the same coming back from his hip injury.

Good news is that BB might be forced to trade for a pass rusher that you can pair with CJ when he returns...

Right, because there are so many teams wanting to unload pass rushers these days.

is this like the pitta injury? I am so depressed right now...

pitta dislocated his hip, if that happened to jones he's done for the year. i hope this isn't similar to the tommy kelly injury last year. kelly hurt his knee, they let him rest/see if the knee would recover then had surgery when they realized his knee was gone.
from 4 weeks out to potential season ending injury? doesn't sound good..

da'quan bowers from tampa. he's been a bust so far but he has talent when healthy. think he's currently suspended. lmao

Even my pessimistic fears are dwarfed by yours. He continued to play with the injury then walked off on his own. Not a dislocated hip.

Pitta dislocated his hip (like Colvin did in 2003). If Jones dislocated his hip, he would have had likely needed immediate emergency surgery so his bone doesn't harder and die. We would have heard about that. If he did injure himself in the second quarter of the game, it is definitely not the same thing because there would be no way he could play with a dislocated hip.

More likely it is a tear of some sort. Can still be problematic, but not as serious.

Kelly came back to 1 practice and then was out for year...jones didn't come to a practice. But I hope it wasn't an issue in past weeks and got worse in jets game.

Didn't pitta hurt his hip again this year? Was that the dislocation or the year before?

Pardon the tangent- but we're not really cursed. The problem is our roster management and drafting making these injuries more serious because we have so few great players. Example: Back in the day it might suck if Ty Law went down, but hey you had Milloy still back there anyway. If Rodney went down, it was a major bummer, but Bruschi was still headhunting and making sure even successful plays didn't get out-of-hand. If big Willie went down, it did hurt the pass rush, but hey you had good LBs, Safeties, and CBs so you often got sacks just because of coverage down the field.

Now days, we panic when 2 or 3 injuries occur because there's just nobody good making up for them. Seriously, why was most of Rutgers football on our team? Why is Ninkovic becoming relevant every single season instead of being a reliable fan-favorite type utility player? Why is our WR situation often questionable so the offense can't make up for a bad defense?

It all comes down to drafting and roster management, and we're really feeling the impact the past 2 seasons of the bad choices we've made over a period of years. (I'm not saying we haven't gotten a good hit here and there but the consistency has been wildly lacking.)

So cursed? No. Not cursed. We just have an FO problem that I think some people fail to acknowledge and others fail to connect to our injury "bugs." (Which aren't bugs... just we don't have depth. I can't begin to understand why our defensive communication goes to crap without Mayo. SOMEBODY else should know something back there by now. Seriously.)

He dislocated his hip in training camp in July (July 28th) last year and came back play in early December (week 14 of the regular season on December 8th). It was almost five months later, not six weeks which is the potential return of Jones.

But he also had immediate surgery on his hip. Jones has not had surgery.

Again, Jones' injury is likely a tear of some sort. Still not good, but not nearly as bad,

There can't possibly be much surprise at this news. We're cursed.
We are not cursed .The patriots are simply badly managed personnel wise.During the off-season everyone knew how lucky we were last season not to have any of our DE's get injured while playing so much. How many people commented how badly we needed a quality DE in the off-season , and yet for some inexplicable reason nothing was done.

What did he do to it this year again? Tear?

I am looking at the QBs we have to face without him.....yeah this is a huge loss

Pitta dislocated his hip both this year and last year. He has done it twice. This second time is likely career ending.

Right, because there are so many teams wanting to unload pass rushers these days.

There might be, though. See trade deadline thread, but Jared Allen is getting playing time reduced, rumored to be unhappy and the draft pick that had been injured has 7 sacks this year. Big contract, small production (1.5 sacks) on a team maybe going nowhere.

Well, that sucks. Hopefully the report is wrong. Time to switch to a 4-3 and move Easley to DE and hope he lives up to his first round draft status soon.
Yup.

We drafted a 4-3 DE who is now healthy. This team is able to play the 4-3. The time has come.

Ninkovich, Wilfork, Jones/Walker, Easley
Collins, Hightower, Ayers/Skinner
Revis, Browner, McCourty, Chung

That's all that we have, other than Moore and the possibility of adding Branch. Chung also provides run support. Wilson and Harmon provide coverage support in passing situations. Dennard, Arrington and Ryan come in as needed in nickel and dime situations.
========
We'll see where we are in a week. I expect couple of defensive additions, with the loss of a special teamer (plus Barker).

So some people wanted Gronk to sit out the regular season and just play in the playoffs. Now that there's a report jones is done for the rest of the regular season, the sky is falling? I know it's a loss and the depth at DE is not good but why the different takes for those two players?
