A. J. McCarron as the Heir Apparent for Brady

Well, since you are the expert in all things football, I will defer to you. Obviously Mccarron sucks and is a horrible QB and shouldn't even be drafted.
Now now..... no need for a temper tantrum just because we disagree and I've used logic and facts to support my point, and you've used nothing.

No one is saying that McCarron should come in and take Brady's spot. That's ludicrous on the face of it, but AJ would be a great choice to groom for that day when Badyy opts to retire, or even, God Forbid, he gets IR'd during a season. Mallett might be good, but he's not as good as Cassel was then.

Unless you are an Auburn or LSU fan, I don't understand your thinking process.

Oh, and.......

ROLL TIDE!
I don't give a crap about any of those teams. My favorite college team is the one my money is on. Since Alabama has been far and away the best team in college football over the past several years, that means I am betting on them more often than not.

McCarron will never amount to anything in the NFL, period, end of discussion. He is a career backup at the professional level. If he played anywhere else, no one would have even heard of him. Sorry if that truth upsets people.

1. People said the same about Brady.

2. How can you say what is FACT when the events you state are going to happen in the future (about pro level) or didn't happen at all (about playing elsewhere)?

I would not be surprised to see Belichick use a 4th on a QB. We need a 2015 backup. He has twice used 3rd for this role. Obviously, Belichick has also found a QB in the 6th round and in the UDFA market.

We do NOT need an heir apparent. We just need the next backup. As with the last, four years of service will be just fine.

If I'm the Jest, I might consider that strategy given what "scouting" has accomplished in recent years.

I'm sure Rex would need to check out her "footwork" before making a decision.

Brady inherited a team that was 5-13 over the past 18 games. McCarron inherited the best team in college football. If he was at any other school, he would be just another 7th rounder or potential undrafted free agent.

That's an unproven hypothetical. Useless.

Marcus Mariota has 63 TD's against 10 INT's over the same time period and is a superior QB in just about every way.

You forgot to mention his rushing 202-1467-7.3-14 plus a 2yd TD Recep in 2012. His 18 fumbles with 8 lost in 25 games is a bit concerning

So you want a 4th rounder draft pick to take over for the greatest QB of all time?

Who said anything about the Broncos taking him?:)

There's a reason no one thinks he will be taken until day 3. Think about it.

Is it because their drafting by alphabetical order this year? If they go by 1st name he's a Texan. Otherwise, yeah, Day 3.

Said it multiple times in the draft thread, and I'll say it here--do not want. Would take him in round 5, but he'll be long gone by then. Because he's a winner. He just doesn't impress me as a player, I liked him early on but he never really improved and he doesn't seem to be the tenacious competitor that he would have to be to justify ludicrous comparisons to Tom Brady. If he were he wouldn't have made the decision to decline a Senior Bowl invite. Again, we don't need to worry about this, because some team will take him in Round 2 and try to make him the homeless man's Andy Dalton.

I can remember a lot of people here doing backflips over Ricky Stanzi, the next Brady they said, Nay! said I, and ever since he's arrived in Kansas City they've done everything in their power to keep him off the field.

Also, very importantly, because this is important when doing a scouting evaluation of a player---AJ McCarron has the worst tattoo I've ever seen, an absolute clusterbumble mess that takes up his entire chest. It's absurd.

No temper tantrum here, I was blown away by your logic and facts.

lmao, Im in the same boat as you when it comes to college teams but anybody that thinks McCarron has no chance at becoming an NFL starter is an idiot. McCarron wasn't asked to win games but that doesn't mean he wasn't able to. When Yeldon was struggling against Auburn and Drake for whatever reason couldn't get on the field, McCarron was the one making throws in a very hostile environment. He doesn't have an absolute cannon but he goes through his progressions well and more often than not, he doesn't force the ball into areas he has no business. Andy Dalton is a starting QB in this league...that should tell you all you need to know.

You could say the same thing about another former Alabama QB, Greg McElroy. Think he just retired after being a backup for 3 or 4 years ?

Gisele is much hotter....especially in her prime.....I have no problem with that picture of her...while if u want to be critical.....Webb is a little wide at the hips!

Gisele is beautiful but she is a bigger twig at best. Katherine Webb has more curves. I don't see how anyone could look at that picture and say Gisele is better. That has to be the most unflattering picture of her I've ever seen.

2 different prospects, McElory was more limited as a passer than AJ is. He doesn't have the resume that AJ has and he isn't as physically gifted as AJ (release and size).

McCarron is Andy Dalton. No thanks.

Brett Smith or Jimmy Garoppolo please.

A late round flyer that played in a pro style offense with a great arm is Tom Savage out of Pitt. With a couple years behind Brady, I think he could be a real player.

I don't know if he sees the field as well as Brady and his decision making isn't the greatest.

When it comes to QB play, decision making and seeing the field are very important in my book. It's why I would not take Manziel before the fourth round if I were a GM.

And why I think Conner Shaw is intriguing as a 7th rounder or UDFA.

Beat me to it.
I see a late round QB pick and maybe even a UDFA to provide a training camp competition for the backup role in 2015, 16, 17.

I have no idea about McCarron as I don't watch college ball but I do not like the idea of pissing away a 3rd in a premature attempt at acquiring a Brady successor. If the worst happens with TFB and he gets hurt badly or tails off exponentially way sooner than expected our record will give us draft capital to acquire a successor and build around him. No more than two down seasons if managed well.

Developmental QB options:

2nd round:

Garoppolo

6th-7th round:

Tom Savage
Connor Shaw
Kenny Guiton

I'm a fan of these four at their current values.

The GOAT was drafted in the 6th round and was a part time starter at an elite program.......

guys, can we stick to football? gisele and katherine webb are too good for 100% of the guys on this board, so a discussion about them is pointless.

with that said, AJ McCarron would be interesting. He is a winner at every level - kind of like Brady was. He does not possess great arm strenght but is very intelligent. Remind you of anyone? :D
