Last season, I thought we kind of limped into opening day with an aging Dillon and a rookie sharing snaps at running back, and two virtual unknowns, a rookie, and an aging slot man at receiver. Now it looks like we're powering our way into next season with absolute burners like Stallworth and Washington on the outside, hard nosed Wes Welker getting the tough yards in the slot, and complimentary guys like Gaffney and Caldwell also lining up. Although I'm a little unsure as to why we signed Washington when we could have used that money to upgrade further at LB or safety, he could very well be a perfect fit in our system and make it almost impossible (if lined up opposite Donte) for teams to double team Stallworth. Our upgrades at that position have opened opened up new holes for Maroney and Sammy Morris because opposing teams will no longer have the luxery of stacking the box to pressure Tom Brady.
This coming season, it seems that the offense will be better than the defense and the defense isn't or won't be a slouch either looking at how the draft is stacked.
