Don't people know he was a starter in Tampa and was smashing records for an undrafted RB? This guy was a lead back so nothing he does should come as a shock, he only lost his job because they took Doug Martin in 2012 and in 2011 the ineptitude of the Bucs offensively was the reason for his down in production compared to his rookie year yet he still managed 781 yards that season before they took Martin.

He could have had 1000 for us this season EASILY if he was the lead back but Ridley was playing like a stud before the fumble issues came to the fore and lost his job.

So pretty much you can put this guy as your starter and guarantee at least 5 YPC when he is plus his style and the momentum it gives the team is something you can't put a value on. The real dumb asses are the Bucs for giving him to Bill for Jeff Demps.

I've said it many a time on here this season that this type of athletic, bruising back will serve nothing but good in the playoffs when the game comes down to the trenches and key yards in the run game. LeGarrette will get those key yards.

because we have never seen someone this big, tall, and fast run the ball like this here.

Blount is basically the running back version of gronk :rocker:

I thought he was a malcontent and not a good locker room player based on what happened in college and TB. I was proven incorrect and I am glad. I hope he goes wild over Indi. 120 yards and 3 TDs.

Of course WE haven't but he was doing this kind of stuff down in Tampa so to me it's no surprise that given the rock he's killing it out there.

"Everyone"?
Liked the trade
Liked "Emily" pre-season and in season

Marion Butts is insulted

I am not shocked at all ...

Every year I pray for a huge bruising fullback ...

Not a fullback ... but I am more than happy.

I like Blount-- as a complimentary back, not a lead runner.

The reason being is that if the defensive line is able to drop their ***es, hold their base, and keep the O-line at an even push, it keeps Blount from finding running room as Blount lacks initial burst on the handoff. Blount "needs" the LOS in order to make a play. Now, there's no denying that Blount has uncommon foot quickness for his size once he's able to break the initial containment. That's why pad level was a teaching point for the coaching staff, if he could learn to drop his pads and engage his core he potentially could be stronger off the snap.

Whereas both Ridley and Vereen do a great job getting off the ball and making up for any breakdowns in protection.

I'm not trying to diminish Blount's value, but if teams can gameplan him as a lead runner I don't think he's near as productive as he's been thus far.

Blounts 1 year to date > Marion's 1 year in NE :rocker:

I'm assuming the OP was being facetious. MB was probably the worst full-time back in NE history.

I don't think antone is shocked, but their was one poster in the Buffalo game thread who posted over and over to take the ball out of his hands and pass it.

Corey Dillon says hi.

Yeah but you don't think running it non stop and becoming predictable while simultaneously taking it out of the hands of the GOAT is not a tad stupid?

It's all about balance. Ask the Vikings where not having a QB and only running it gets them........

We can all agree that Dillon was all of the qualities listed and clearly the best.

I'll qualify it as being a runner over 245lbs. Dillon played around 225-230 IIRC

Pretty good idea in the pouring rain, if you can do it, I'd say, if we have a big back that can run under those conditions.

Anyway, who are these people shocked about Blount so much it inspired a thread? Just having fun with you.

I'm pretty sure alot of people didn't give Blount a cats hell of making the team in the pre season and i'm pretty sure they were shocked he did what he did last Sunday so that's why.

As for the game they ran it down their throats and that set it up for Tom to throw a TD to Vereen, so again balance is important. I don't like pass heavy and i don't like run heavy. Brady is the master of PA passes in the rain or not in the rain so just another to not go crazy on the run.

Having said that though i do want to see Blount featured HEAVILY against the Colts who shouldn't be able to touch him.
