NFL prostitution, London style

I for one am not complaining about being able to watch four consecutive NFL games in their entirety.

Which broadcaster is going to air this early morning game?

Falcons/Lions or Sleep/Church/Family

It won't be Falcons/Lions

Thanks, NFL. That's one less game I'll have to flip between.

I clicked on this link expecting to read of salacious details about a high-class call girl ring centered in the netherworld of London, possibly with some scandalous pictures attached. Obviously very disappointed here.

I hope the campaign fails and that the NFL loses $$. It's the only way this expansion is going to stop. I don't like exporting the NFL to Europe for several reasons, the main one being that it's only a matter of time before they put a team over there, and since the northeast corner of the US is the closest part of the country to Europe, guess which division is going to be stuck traveling over there once a year? That would be us. A major disadvantage, IMO.

Take the family to church and fall asleep in the pue with the Falcons/Lions game on your Ipad. Problem solved :D

The 9:30am game is fine in theory for the east coast but are the west coast fans going to get up and watch? They should put one of the west teams in a game like this and see how it goes. OF course, as has been pointed out, what they'd love to do is have a team there and sell the 8 game package to increase their revenue.

just get the hell out of the UK altogether Goodell.

It's called AMERICAN football for a reason.

on a happier note, the new director of football operations in Buffalo is looking for ways to scrap the Bills in Toronto series. (I've never attended a Bills game in Toronto, and never will, unless the Patriots play)

But the first forms were played in the UK and derived from Rugby League. It was called Rugby Football. You just changed the name.

This is a really good move by the NFL to continue their expansion in to the UK. The late finish is a real put off for some people who have work the next day and come from outside of London. It's a really long day.

The season ticket offer is extremely good value for money and will help when trying to sell out multiple games.

These games are making money. Goodell or no Goodell, the NFL WILL expand here and, until it starts to lose them money, that will remain the case.

The sport is becoming so huge here and even more so at grass roots level, with Universities and national league teams popping up everywhere. We are starting to have British taught players gaining scholarships in America to play from schools as good as Oklahoma and Boise State. All this is very promising to the NFL and the more it happens, the more they want to expand here.

Logistically it will be worked out.

I fail to see the logic here.

For one, the two times we have played in the UK we have blown out our opposition therefore that was of no disadvantage.

For two, at most we would play there once a year? That's IF we are in the same division as them. If we're in the same conference, we might have to play, at worst, one game a year if they finish in the same position as us in their respected division. If not, it'll be once every three years. If they aren't in our conference, we will play them once every FOUR years.

How on earth is that a big problem?

Logistically it is of no issue. As I said at the start, we have blown the two opponents we have played at Wembley out of the water with ease. It wasn't a disadvantage then, why would it be any other time? That would be no excuse for losing away in London, given the two results we have already achieved.

No real argument here. But doesn't the idea of hawking a "season ticket" package of three games fielding six different teams smack at least slightly of a cynical money-grab? Remember, they're taking away home games from three NFL cities to make this happen. This leaves three fan bases with two preseason games and just seven regular-season games because the league wants to push its popularity in a foreign country. If Kraft ever does this with a Pats game, I'll be bullshytt. But you know it's coming.

As for this; the league asked the Patriots to give up a home game. Kraft said no. They also asked the Patriots to be the 'three game franchise' before they asked Jacksonville. Kraft said no.

So no, it isn't coming. As a UK fan I wouldn't want it to either. All UK fans would be happy as anything for the Pats to come here again for on of their away fixtures but NONE of us want to see a home game given up for the privilege.

I think a team in London could work and would be kind of cool. I don't like having a slew of games in London, 1 is fine, but after that I don't like it.

They should do what is expected and just move the Jags to London already.

A team in London would be an absolute JOKE. It shouldn't & better not happen. They don't even call the sport by its actual name.

Anyway, those are 3 awful games they're having there.

You're CLEARLY biased because you live in the UK. Having a team there is stupid. Like it or not.

I live in Canada and I don't even want a team here, which they talk about often as well.

Honestly, I don't care?

I'm a Patriots fan. I will always support the Patriots. I wouldn't switch my allegiance.

If they bring a team here I will watch games. Not all eight, but I live reasonably close enough to justify going to a few. If they're playing and a win would help the Pats, I'll go there and scream my lungs out in support of them. If the Pats come here and play them I'll root against them.

If it's making money for the league and it does even more for the growth of the sport at grass roots level here, then I'm in whole support of it.

If it is failing and costing the league money, I will be against it.

The league is a business. A lot of people on here seem certain it's a 'bad business move' yet the three games have been earning them HUGE amounts of money. If that continues, I'm all for the franchise. It's safe to say that right no the evidence supports the theory that a franchise WILL work. As soon as it starts to prove otherwise...IF it does...I will turn against it.

I'm on the fence.

If the NFL really wants to expand into Europe then they should build an NFL-Europe, not expand the NFL to Europe. That will destroy the NFL.

Imagine whatever sport you have in the U.K. right now that the British take seriously. Do you really want a new team in that league appearing in Miami, with your team having to fly into a different hemisphere once a week, completely unadjusted to the timezone, and have to play a grueling match up against people they have nothing to do with?

The entire concept is utterly stupid.

The best-case scenario would be for you to move permanently to America, and bring the couple thousand diehard British NFL fans along with you. We've got room. Case solved and this embarrassing charade ends once and for all.

There was an NFL Europe. It was a developmental league. It didn't draw as much interest as they had hoped and cost them more money than it was worth, given the lack of products it was producing.

It's not as good as the real thing. They're rejects that the NFL hoped one day could fulfil a roster spot. Kurt Warner played in NFL Europe, so there were success stories.

There has been suggestions of a European division in a sense, as it is hugely popular in Germany, Italy etc. but, right now, that would be over kill and likely wouldn't happen for a long, long time.

Again, we're talking about it 'killing' the NFL, but the evidence points in opposite directions right now.

LA killed more than one franchise. Moving it down the coast or across the Atlantic...is there truly much difference? Going from the UK to east coast is no different from flying East to West in the US itself. Logistically it can work if you timetable it correctly and use the byes to your advantage.

Hey, if I had the money I'd be over in Boston in no time :p Sadly, even though I can have the money,my girlfriend wouldn't want to move. FML. The UK isn't all that to live in!

A flimsy excuse. We not only have football, we also have women. So give your girlfriend an ultimatum and create a win-win situation for yourself.

Man , all those millions of British Jaguar fans, and Miami vacation fans and Oakland Pirate fans(Captain Kidd relatives are rife in the commonwealth) are gonna be happy as bangers and mash at an all-u-can-eat pub in Soho.

In the rain....:rocker: ah ewww

The NFL is a business and businesses exist to create money.

No one will stop watching because there is a game in Europe and the NFL knows that. The only thing they care about is whether there is a opportunity to expand their base and make money. If they decide that the expense exceeds what they will get in return, the will stop doing it. If they think there's an opportunity, they will pursue it like any good business. They stopped pursuing games in Mexico and China for that very reason. If they figure there is a market opportunity somewhere, they will go for that one as any business would. The NFL exists as a business to make money. It just so happens that entertainment is their business and business is good right now.

I read the title wrong. Somehow I was expecting pics of prostitutes in London:)
