Squealers' Coach Tomlin Cheats to Prevent TD

NFL reviews move by Mike Tomlin of Pittsburgh Steelers for discipline - ESPN

well nfl says they are reviewing it.

if they actually wanted to send a message - they should suspend tomlin for a week. My guess though is $10k fine - nfl-hypocrits like the squeelers - so they wont go after him.

just watch what happens though in the coming weeks if BB is more than 1 ft inside the 6ft wide white stripe. He'll probably get a warning at least from a ref.

Probably better than trying to read Tomlin's body language would be for someone with access to Steelers game tapes to take a look and find out if in fact Tomlin regularly watches kickoff returns on jumbotrons and stands close to field.

It certainly looks bad, but the rational part of me says Tomlin didn't run to that spot at his own 40 yard line when he saw Jones rolling up his sideline all as part of some clever scheme. At least I haven't seen a video of him doing so.

Sounds to me more like you just don't WANT to believe it. To me, the proof is right there on film. I find it nearly impossible to believe that Tomlin was trying to avoid the play at the exactly right moment BY actually sticking his leg into the field of play, whereas it wasn't there before...just at the exact moment it would affect Jones is when he stuck his foot in.

There are probably thousands and thousands of people in prison or jail that were convicted based on less evidence. Tomlin deliberately did it beyond a reasonable doubt from where I'm sitting. He should be punished as though it was intentional.

The Steelers HAD to win this game to stay alive in the Wildcard hunt. Not like Tomlin will ever cop to what he did.

I think that he should be suspended too.

What I fear is that the league may overreact and start calling the penalty in crucial situations when anybody is even barely on the disallowed territory. I can see them doing that. Could give them an excuse to have another outlet to decide games.

Too bad they didn't call it right this time during the game. We wouldn't be having this "controversy." The people that are most upset are probably the ones that bet on the Ravens. The spread was Ravens -2.5, and they only won by 2. Tomlin's tricky little maneuver cost a lot of people money, I suspect.

It's quite possible he was standing with one foot one the field completely unaware of his position idk but when he saw Jacoby running up the Steelers sideline he turned his head, waited and tried to put a scare into him a bit to slow him down imo. If he just stood there and stared at the jumbotron in lala land I would buy his story but what he did? not so much, either way it's still illegal.

Tomlining?

Isn't the rule that anyone, not playing, cannot be on the field? Mistake or not, he should have never been on the field.
Just another rule being decided by judges who make calls as they see fit...again. No consistency. STAY THE HELL OFF THE FIELD!!!!

Yeah, but he was never "standing there with one foot on the field." He looked over, saw Jones coming, AND THEN stuck his foot on the field. No offense, but anybody that thinks Tomlin was surprised to see Jones there streaking down the sidelines is a complete fool. That's right, people are supposed to not be offended when I call them fools.

His whole excuse was that he was watching the play on the JumboTron, and then we're supposed to believe that he wasn't aware of how the play was unfolding? And then he sticks his foot in front of Jones at precisely the right moment? That was NOT a natural move to get out of the way IMO; in fact, it's exactly the opposite.

As far as I'm concerned, he did it on purpose. There is just too much evidence to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Anyone not playing isn't even allowed on that HUGE white strip on the edge of the field of play, let alone the field itself. People do it, but not so much like THAT.

Tomlin was on the field for one second or less, and that's when Jones was coming. Stuck his leg in when Jones was nearing and disrupted the play...I think on purpose.

Thought I saw one foot slightly on the green, maybe not. I agree, he's FOS.

No, actually you are right. He WAS standing slightly on the field, but just a tiny bit...then he stuck his foot WAY in.

Remember that awesome hit that BB put on Marvin Harrison trying to get back on the field a few years ago?

Lucky he didn't get shot.

$500,000 fine and the loss of their first round draft pick sounds reasonable.

Imagine the outcry if Bill did that.

belichick has done something similar before - a while ago when Reggie Wayne went out of bounds and belichick tried to block him from getting back in the field of play for a split second. it's on youtube somewhere.

What a scumbag, he knew exactly where he was. I'm pretty glad the Steelers lost.

There's no favorable outcome other than a tie when the Steelers play the Ravens.

it was such a boring game too.

A whole lot of no offense, followed by the ravens having one long play followed by a field goal then a steeler 3 and out.

here i would have preferred the steelers to win....anything to keep baltimore out of the post season.
