Not if you are playing against the Jets and the Ref's at the same timeYou win some you lose some, 'tis the way of the world and the NFL.
Team B players cannot push teammates on the line of scrimmage into the offensive formation

No mention of where anyone lines up so it was the correct call.
I'm sure that there's going to be a lot of really bad posts made in this thread, so I'm just going to take a post from the game thread, modify it and add a bit at the end, and them I'm outta here so the two extreme sides can lob grenades at each other:
The Patriots defense is missing both of its NFL starting-level DTs. It's missing it's best LB, who happens to be the only LB capable of covering against the pass. It's missing its CB1, which leads to the CB3 and S2 being exposed.
The Patriots offense is missing it's best WR. It's dealing with a TE who's playing his first game of the year. It's missing it's only RB receiving weapon. It's got a pair of rookie WRs who are inconsistent, at best, and who struggle mightily against man coverage. It's got a center who is not starting quality going against an excellent pair of DTs. It's got a LT who's been struggling for much of this young season.
All this, and the team is coming off a last-second win in an emotional game, against an excellent opponent.
With that in mind, why were people posting as if they were shocked that this game was a struggle and ended in a loss?
Now, having done that, I'll just make one quick rant:
It took an offseason of incredible incompetence on the part of the "GM" to get this team to the point where the greatest offensive lineups in history have turned into this steaming turd.
Congrats Bill! You've taken the best team in the league and turned it into a mediocrity, in just one season. I sure as hell hope your changes improve by the factor of about 1000 that they'll need to in order to get this team just back to where it should have been.
Belichick's comment on Gronkowski's return: "I don't know. We'll have to look at the film."
Fred Smerlas just read the entire rule. It's in there.
The league made two adjustments:
• First they said the defensive team could not overload one side of the center with more than six players.
• They then addressed a situation that they had been talking about for years when they decided to not allow the defensive team to push one of their teammates into the offensive formation.
It makes no difference where you are originally lined up - Rule 9-1-3, the new rule, says "Team B players cannot push teammates on the line of scrimmage into the offensive formation." That’s exactly what happened in this play.
Brady seriously needs to work on his deep throws. He needs a bit more air under these throws. His line-drives when he throws it deep are almost always an incomplete. He doesn't give his receivers a chance.
Classic BB.
It is one of a series of long-snapper protection rules put into effect in the last few years. This one was added this year. It is only in effect on FGs.
Roger Goodell doesn't make the rules. The owners do, with input from the competition committee, which has zero league office membership.
I guess if either team had a touchdown lead then gifting a team a field goal would not influence the outcome. Let me remind you that was not the case in this game. The Pats would have had the ball on their 46 yard line needing 15 yards for a chance to win. Here's the full rule, not just the part that let's one disagree with BB:
Team B players cannot push teammates on the line of scrimmage into the offensive formation
Chris Jones started from the LOS, there's no way to interpret him as a "Team B" or "second level" player. It was a bad call, but not uniquely influencing the outcome of the game.
In regards to the penalty during the FG try, it was dumb to even try that crap. If the coaches knew there was a new rule this year, the risk/reward is not even close to leave it up to chance for the refs to interpret what they see on the field.
Dumb.
