Thru week 6 Amendola has only proven his critics correct…

I am in complete agreement Edelman trending at 109 receptions, 1096 yards and 5 touchdowns, all of which would be better than Amendola has ever had in a single NFL season. Edelman is bigger, stronger, faster and more agile than Amendola, to me I would rather have the guy who wasn’t even a wide receiver entering the NFL and has improved each year since entering the NFL, especially if that player could be had at a lower cost.

Edelman - 5'10 3/8 inches - 198 lbs - 4.52 (40), 3.92 (shuttle), 6.62 (3cone), 13 reps at 225
Amendola - 5'10 4/8 inches - 195 lbs - 4.68 (40), 4.25 (shuttle), 6.81 (3cone), 14 reps at 225
Welker - 5'8 6/8" - 195 lbs - 4.65(40), 4.01 (shuttle), 7.09 (3cone)

So, Edelman isn't bigger. Their benchpress are identical and you have no proof that one is actually stronger than the other on the field. What is your proof that Edelman is more agile other than the numbers from the combine. Which, btw, Welker showed to be quicker on the field than either Amendola or Edelman, yet their numbers were better than his.

He could have slid right before impact, that's what QBs are advised to do all the time, there's a reason for it.

No, he couldn't have slide right before the impact. Did you even watch the game? Amendola already had one defender holding him when Bush hit him in the helmet...

Where did you get these numbers from, post the link please?

The numbers I posted are from nfldraftscout and they're not the same so I am just curious.

Ok, I am out of this bizarre thread. Only in New England could Amendola get roasted because a defender trying to tackle him led with his head causing helmet to helmet contact and knocking him out. Maybe this craziness will be proven right when Goodell fines Amendola for helmet to helmet contact with Bush because Amendola caused it from not sliding.

Your ignoring so much Rob, it has nothing to do with the head injury. The Patriots have played 360 minutes of football this season only 17 of those minutes occurred after the head injury, to make it seem like this dissatisfaction with Amendola is centered around the head injury is really just a way of avoiding the reality of it the first 6 regular season games that Amendola has been on this team.

It is not a stupid thread, and that was not a freak injury if you feel otherwise I don’t know what to tell you but Amendola had the ball in his hand and was running at the defender, he could have and should have braced himself for contact.

This shows you don't even know what you are talking about beyond the fact that Amendola was a runner. First, Amendola had one guy on him. Second, Bush led with his helmet and hit Amendola's helmet on the side. That's an illegal hit due to the rule chances for this year. Your claim that Amendola could have braced himself for a hit that he couldn't see coming is just asinine.

At the end of the day no hard feelings on this pal, I am not pleased with Amendola in any way shape or form, I fully expect if this continues over the remainder of the season Amendola will go the way of Brandon Lloyd, Greg Salas, Daniel Fells and the rest of Josh McDaniel’s brilliant idea’s, what does it say about your personnel choices when Michael Hoomanawanui is the best of the bunch…. My true intent on the this sunny Columbus day was to roll out of bed and bash Josh McDaniel’s because I think he SUCKS ass and rides Brady’s coattails but one of the moderators must of caught wind of my epic Columbus day plans and were prepared to immediately move that thread to the practice squad forum, so I had to move on to McDaniel’s lackey and attack him on a sneak level. I will try the direct McDaniel’s attack again on Christmas and see if it sticks in the main forum longer :D

I hate to break it to you but Belichick is the one making the player decisions. Does he get some input from McDaniels? Sure. But, in the end, it's BB. And let's not forget that Dobson and Thompkins were both players that McDaniels would have chimed in on. So to say that Hoomanawanui is McDaniels best personnel choice is pretty laughable. Furthermore, McDaniels was directly responsible for Demaryius Thomas and Eric Decker out in Denver. As was Zane Beadles, Von Miller, and Trindon Holliday. And I've been a critic of McDaniels for a while, but I can admit when he does some things right. Clearly you have issues with that.

one more time in case you missed it

Unless he has another head on his shoulder, he did not lead with his head.

Not only that but Amendola is a runner, not a defenseless receiver. Helmet to helmet contact/targeting and any other of uncle rogers protective rules do not apply.

Andy you should just make your signature something ignorant and you can save so much time having to actually write out these ignorant statements.

Said the guy who continually posts that he never attacks or insults anyone.

Triplechump- Helps if you actually get a view from the top that they replayed yesterday where it showed, clear as day, Bush leading with his helmet and hitting Amendola square on the side of his helmet.

So you wish Amendola was a weak chicken **** WR as a slot receiver. You want him to replace Welker by being the antiWelker? Where Welker would fight for an extra yard or two, you want Amendola to give himself up and slide.

Sorry, but what Amendola did on that play was the right way to do it

Oh yeah, make sure you beat your chest as Amendola doesnt produce anything for the next few weeks because of that injury. It's a pretty simple concept of risk v. reward, one you don't seem to get.

Lloyd was an outside receiver. He would catch the ball and go down. Slot receivers get hit. That is the nature of the position. If you want Amendola to avoid contact, make his an outside deep threat WR. Those guys rarely get tackled.

Ok, so if that play had the outside receiver slide then it would have been cool?

I'm sure the fans in Broncos forum would agree he is great with personnel, unfortunately I'm a Patriots fan.

The other thing is I listed free agent personnel decisions you counterback with draft choices two different things pal.

It's fairly obvious that Amendola's body can't handle the physicality of playing in the NFL without getting injured every few games.

Soooooo, how about that Austin Collie? Pretty nice contribution on that final drive.

Mankind will always do what he needs to do to adapt and every action has a reaction pal, consider this the beginning of my adaption. You want just insult each all day, everyday like 8th graders OK I'm in let's do it.

I´m not a fan of Amendola, because of his injury history.

But in this case, i don´t wanna blame him. Remember Ridley-KO. No chance to avoid this.

I am talking about the entire season as a whole, Amendola caught 2 of 4 passes for ZERO yards yesterday… :bounce:

So it's Amendola's fault that the Passes that were called when he was thrown to were covered well by the Saints???

either post the replay or just stop because in no way can you say he lead with his helmet from what I posted. He clearly leads with his shoulder into Amendola's head as he's going down. Even if he did lead with his helmet it is not illegal for a defender to do so. The new rule prevents Runners (Amendola in this situation) from lowering the crown of the helmet outside the tackle box.
Either stop with the name calling or put something behind it, nobody calls anybody a chump anymore lol.
