Week 4 vs Atlanta Falcons discussion

Atlanta was sloppy today. Lots of little mistakes. Miami deserved to win, but Miami is not as good as their record would indicate.

They pummeled the Browns....they went to Indy and beat the Colts who beat the NFC Champs yesterday and then the Phins beat Atlanta who is projected to win 10 games at least.

Where do you see the Dolphins not as good as their record?

The AFC East is going to be a dogfight with Miami, both NE and Miami could be in danger of losing their first game next week with the Pats heading to Atlanta and Miami playing in New Orleans .... In fact the entire AFC East has brutal opponents next weekend with the Jets heading to Tennessee and Buffalo hosting the Ravens.

My dad's a fan of theirs, so I've seen all 3 of their games either with my full attention or on the other screen during a Pats game.

3 games is a sample size that leaves them with only .000, .333, .667 and 1.000 as their W%s... they look closest to the third one.

Thank god we drew two rookie QBs and Josh Freeman in our first three games. 3-1 won't be the end of the world

The Falcons aren't playing particularly very good football right now. Part of that is their injury woes, among other things. Some people are still stuck in this mode of basing teams based on last year. Last year is gone and over with. None of that matters now. For example, the 49ers are terrible and are in some serious turmoil right now despite being the NFC champs of last season.

Realistically, the Falcons should have been beaten soundly by the Dolphins. Injuries to Wake, Ellerbe, Misi, Wheeler and without others like Soliai and Patterson really kept Atlanta in the game. Mostly due to Wake's absence the Falcons ran effectively with scrubs like Jason Snelling and Jacquizz Rodgers. Wake's fill in UDFA Derrick Shelby looked like a deer in headlights, especially in run support. Regardless, Miami still had trouble beating them. Their offense couldn't exploit a severely depleted Falcons defense. I haven't been overly impressed with the Dolphins so far this year. I'm even less impressed with the Falcons as they're presently.

As it relates to next week's matchup, a healthier, more physical and overall better Patriots defense right now should be than enough to handle them in their present injury-riddled state. Atlanta could barely get by against Miami's rag-tag defense that resembled a mash unit, missing basically 6 starters in the second half.

I get that a lot of people are stuck on such meaningless things like reputations from yesteryear, but right now as it stands, the Patriots should win that game because they are the better team than Atlanta. Last I checked, the team that's better almost always wins.

Don't forget that this us an away game though and Atlanta is very tough at home. Its nit the same team as last year but I find ut hard to believe they forgot how to play good football .

I injuries aside it would not be wise to under estimate atlanta playing in their own turf.

It is going to be the first true measuring stick of the year. The Falcons are gonna be sour after losing to the fish...

Is anyone here really afraid of this team? Their D is very suspect. Much worse then the Bucs. ROddy WHite is non existent now with his high ankle sprain. If you stop Julio...they are golden IMO.

Especially if they get gronk back and maybe amendola. Would be huge

I've seen all 3 of the Falcons games and I'm not impressed with them. They couldn't punch it in from the 1 yard line against the Saints to win, beat a terrible St Louis team by 7, and crapped themselves against Miami. The Pats can win this game if the offense keeps improving like it did yesterday.

The Falcons have talent and are desperate at 1-2 (good teams don't like losing records, and fight to avoid going deeper in the hole). Fans and media are likely focusing on the Pats prior to last game, with an offense that inspired no fear in other teams and still is a work in progress. The Falcons are trying to work through major injuries, but put up 24 points on a decent defense in Miami. I expect it will be a tough game for the Pats regardless of where it is played, but believe it is very winnable.

Breaking bad series finale is on during the pats game

WHY do they have to play sunday night. IDK what I am going to do

same here..i have to watch BB live. Not sure there is a site to stream it though. But I know I can stream the pats...well at least 15 min of it will be on during half so it won't be too bad

We're going to need Gronk back for this game. Dudfeld and Hooman aren't capable of making teams like the Falcons pay over the middle. Dobson should have a size and strength advantage over Asante so they might double him or risk Brady throwing jump balls or pumping to get Asante to bite (which you can bet he will) and then going over the top. Defensively, we can only hope to slow Julio. Talib will be on him and Gregory should give him some help over the top which means Ryan might try to take advantage of our LB's with Tony Gonzalez. Banged up or not, this should be the first real litmus test for the team as a whole.

Double Julio. Gotta cover Tony well as they should be good IF they can do that. Don't want to get in a shootout with this team at home. Running game will be key. Control/kill the clock

I expect Gonzalez and Harry Douglas to turn in solid games for the Falcons because Belichick will probably give the Falcons that. As long as Julio Jones doesn't smoke us deep, we should be in business. Hopefully the rookies continue to improve and Gronk can get back on the field in any role.

I think it was schefter or breer who reported yesterday that gronk still has trouble regaining strength in his arm. That's not a good sign.

I would think Talib will be on Jones all game with a safety over the top. Dennard can take out White who is basically a decoy right now. Hoping that Arrington can stick with Douglas. I expect Gonzales to be their leading receiver next week unless Jones makes a few sick catches which he is definitely capable of doing.
