Who sits in judgement of Bob Kraft and the Patriots???

Great piece by former Herald sportswriter Michael Gee about the media's ridiculous reaction to this:

homegame: Guilt By Six Degrees of Association

Given moron Denard being on probation and now picking up a DUI, should the Pats have to inform all their players that wearing a gorilla mask will not help them escape conviction on their next murder?

Hindsight.......the lazy sportswriter's best friend. We're lucky to have some pretty good writers and doomed to have the crotchety old fools who think that bashing the home team is journalistic genius.
It's amazing how they tell us how easy it is to predict the future. I defy any one of these morons to show us where they foresaw an Aaron Hernandez in jail for murder 1. I also don't think that Bob Kraft loses any sleep over what Donaldson or Borges et al. write about him. I do believe he's genuinely upset at the tragic turn of events and wishes he could have seen the future but the fact is that nobody did or could.
For anyone who thinks I've unfairly characterized the old fools, as an old fool myself I think I'm allowed to.

Tommy Curran, who was one of the loudest a couple of weeks ago on Hernandez (methinks he had a drunken Friday) was outed here (and subesequently became very quiet):

Here is his hypocrisy in living technicolor (less than one year ago):

"......The Patriots made incredibly sound business decisions with Hernandez and Gronkowski. You have to make those signings if you can, regardless of what the other contract dynamics are....."

"..... The Hernandez and Gronkowski money? That's money well spent...."
_

Moral of the story: "If you can't do.....become a sports writer".

I have a well documented track record of not being a BB/Kraft sycophant and I absolutely do not blame Kraft or BB for what went down this moron thug, Hernandez. That being said, I am quite surprised that a pro team handing out a 40 million dollar contract to a pro athlete doesn't check out their players thoroughly. It is truly shocking that NFL teams don't have PI/security departments investigating their investments and I suspect that will be changing going forward.

How did the National Security Agency do with their background checks of Edward Snowden?

A football team should be held to a higher standard?

Stop dreaming.

Human beings are unpredictable.

This is what we call "Journalism" in 2013:

KTVU apologizes for racist SF plane crash gaffe | Matier And Ross | an SFGate.com blog

Why should we expect intelligence from anyone outside of Bedard or Reiss?

Let's face it, it USED to be a reputable career.

The fact that Tomase STILL has a job at the same paper, Borges works in the same city along with "mail it in" Shaughnessy says volumes about the complete disregard today for the basic protocols of professional journalism.

Not just these guys, but a lot of sports media folks in this area are turning into contrarians... Felger, Dennis and Callahan, most of the WEEI folks, any of the Pro Jo sports editors all seem to feel that BB should come back from vacation and profess his sins in public.. they go as far as demanding it.

Even Peter King in his MMQB column has it all figured out, Pioli was no longer here so BB had no one to confront or argue with him on AH or Dennard... if Pioli was here things would sure be different. Huge difference, maybe we would still be drafting crappy defensive backs..

I am at the point where I have just about disregarded all current sports journalism both print and media, as they all sound like petulant children...

I personally try not to judge people who made more in interest payments in the last hour than I make in a year. One of the rules I live by :)

Sports journalists make little money. Star on air personalities make more but it still isn't anything outrageous. The football players we are constantly judging on this site make far more.

I've been away from the board for a couple of weeks, so I'm not up to date on "All Hernandez All The Time" plus assorted other stories. All I can say is that virtually all of my contact with the Boston Media and Talk Shows comes through this Forum and I am happy to leave it that way. Why even watch or listen to those idiots? It's bad for your health, mental and physical.

As for the Kraft and Patriots, it was naive to put them on a pedestal in the first place, but they are certainly no worse than many in the NFL and better than many others.

Their bargain hunting and risk taking at Draft Time and in Free Agency was bound to come back and bite them at some point; I think that most of us hoped it would get no worse than busts on the field like Fat Albert and the Player Formerly Known as Ocho Cinco. Taking flyers on Clock Killin' Corey Dillon and Randy Moss more than made up for those relatively minor missteps. But Hernandez and, to a lesser degree, Alfonzo Dennard are clearly another matter.

I was referring to judgement of Robert Kraft. My income isn't that pathetic.

Tim Hasselbeck was just on WEEI with Salk and Holley and he opined that there's no way the Pats are responsible for the Hernandez outcome and that NFL teams draft and extend guys all the time with much worse histories than Hernandez. In addition, he said he interviewed Hernandez at minicamp after the Tebow signing and was impressed with AH. Finally, he said on the last day of minicamp everyone else was into the dressing room ready to beat it out of town for vacation and there were two guys left still working on a vacant field - Brady and Hernandez. His overall conclusion: AH duped everyone, and he used that Kraft term. I'm sure the interview is posted on the WEEI website.o

Listened to the entire interview...said he thinks the Pats will win at least 10 games. Willie says 11...everybody is screaming "Patriot Way smashed!!! It's our turn!!!!"...well...I look at the players the Past DO have going into this season, their experience levels and the youth we've added and I smell 2007. For me, Brady is the only key to a decline by this team at present.
