Torrey Smith takes shots at Pats fans

I understand why he would be mad but to generalize the entire fan base off a few knucklehead makes Torrey Smith the ignorant P.O.S

Please, the night my dad and I attended a Pats/Ravens game in Baltimore still stands as the night in which I feared we wouldn't make it out in one piece.

2007? I was there and thought the same thing.

He is not a punk regardless of what he says about a fanbase. He is a good kid that came up with nothing, took school serious and made it. He gives a lot back to charity, his hometown and makes himself available to kids in the area.

I coached his nephew last year in youth football and Torrey comes from a troubled family, yet does everything he can to help them. He's easy to talk to and kids find him easy to approach.

Aye, me too. That place was a mad house.

While in Foxborough, opposing players and fans will be taunted. And if you're non-caucasian, you probably will be the receiving end of racial taunts. But in Baltimore, you might get robbed, raped, and killed. And not necessarily in that order.

I was at that 2007 game. Received some racial taunts, did not acknowledge the guy at all, did not want to give him the satisfaction. By Torrey's logic, ravens fans are more racist than others.

****tiest city I have ever visited. Place is a dump.

****tiest city I have ever visited. Place is a dump.

Was in Baltimore a few weekends back. Stayed in the fells point area. Had a blast. Granted, i wouldn't want to live there, but there are some good spots to be found.

Yup, 2007. Even this little old couple was saying nasty things to us. I couldn't wait to get out of there.

Sports fans aren't supposed to feel welcome in opposition stadium.

Inside the city of Baltimore, there a few and far in-between what I would call "nice place to visit". Fells Point happens to be one of them.

Outside the city of Baltimore, the state of MD has some of the best counties to live in the U.S.

However, when I go to the "city", i go to DC not Baltimore.

If pats fans made fun of my brothers death on twitter, I'd feel the same way as Torrey Smith. I understand his sentiments.

yeah...IF it was Pats fans...it wasn't...I remember that incident...it turned out the taunts came from a group of Steeler fans posing as Patriot fans. One of the tweets was cross referenced to a Steeler board and it matched word for word. There's over 20,000 members here at Patsfans and I've never read any such thing from anyone signed on here. I just did a search of the database and turned up nothing.

Personally, as a Pats fan, I've never really given Torrey Smith, his life, his philosophy or his recriminations any thought. He's a wide receiver on a team that boasted Ray Lewis, Suggs, Flacco, Pollard and other higher profile players. I'd buy something like this if it was from Pollard because a percentage of the Pats fanbase really detest him.

Don't take as fact everything you read tweeted...I mean that goes for any communication, but especially twitter, a fraud paradise.

You know what? Some completely ignorant fans do not make the entire fanbase. He has a right to be upset at those people. Hell, I am upset that any person would taunt a person about their dead brother over a football game.

That said, it doesn't make what Smith did right. Making these comments right now is almost as tasteless considering what is going on with Hernandez. He is capitalizing on the death of Odin Lloyd to take shots at people who took shots at him about his brother's death.

And, with the release of Hernandez, we see a difference here between the Ravens FO and the Ravens' fan base (that defended Ray Lewis until the end) and the Patriots FO and most of the Patriots' fan base.

Bumped it so more people, including Ratbird apologist scum, might read that last statement.

He is a dirtbag who -apes babies. Just sayin', I thought there were more non baby -apists in the house, but based on his tweets it is obvious he isn't one of them.

He would not understand the parody here.

As a Ravens fan, I'm disappointed Torrey went there. Some select NE fans treated him like ****** after his brother's death, including this one, (a Pats fan living in Baltimore), who tweeted just after the Raven's emotional win:

- "Hey, Smith, how about you call your bro and tell him all about your win— Ohhhh. Wait. #TooSoon?”
and also:
- “The Pats may have lost but at least none of them lost a family member. I’d say that’s a win.”

But you can't trash the whole fanbase because of the actions of a few - or even a few thousand. So that was wrong, and a mistake.

HOWEVER: Enough of this "Torrey's kicking us in the wake of the AH scandal", "Torrey's exploiting Lloyd's death" nonsense.

3 days ago, he was asked who he was rooting for in the NHL finals, because that's when the finals were happening. 3 days ago, he answered, because that's when he was asked. This has nothing to do with the Hernandez/Lloyd tragedy
