Why on Earth would you want to eliminate a man's livelihood just because he voiced his opinion on a topic being discussed?

I think people are demanding disciplinary and critical consistency. The double standard is the problem.

While I agree about the consistency issue, I'd say that Limbaugh should never have been axed, Jimmy the Greek should never have been axed, etc... Getting it consistently wrong isn't much better than being hit or miss.

What you fail to understand is the simple fact that they work for media companies that rely on advertisers.

I don't fail to understand that, but thanks for positing that notion. I'm sure that somewhere, out in the wilds of Siberia or the heart of Africa, is someone who doesn't know that media companies who rely on commercial advertisement for their revenues also rely on advertisers.

Yeah, like THIS guy:

Because he's not doing a good job? It's not that he voices his opinion, it's that he sounds ignorant because he never seems to do his homework. Even today he sounded like an idiot trying to start a race war.

He hates Tiger cause he isn't black enough. Feel that RG3 is distancing himself from the black community....no he's distancing himself from the black quarterbacks that came out in the past 10 years because honestly, none of them had the football IQ he is putting on display and his ability to read defenses or accuracy. Turnover machines with athletic ability or character issues.

Don't see a problem with it. He should be compared to other efficient pocket passers with a high football IQ because that's what he is.

Don't think he deserves that type of national podium to spew that much garbage. He needs to do a better job.

Its clear that he isn't very good at his job. If you didn't see how his comments came across as not only ignorant but insulting, I don't know what to tell you. ESPN needs to let parker go and whatever paper he writes for should do the same.

And just to clarify myself I don't think Parker he should lose his job over his race baiting comments, especially if Stephen A Smith got away with saying ni**a 3 times already. Don't see it as fair game, but then again ESPN has shown they have different levels of tolerance for different employees.

Rob's just a dumbass whose football arguments are worse than most trolls in your typical football forum and he doesn't do his research or gets his facts right. Like..."Tom Brady didn't score any touchdowns in the AFC Championship game".....moron!

Tolerance shmolerance.....

It all comes down to whether it costs the employer money.

What SAS said didn't cost ESPN much. What Parker said will.

Pete Carroll didn't get fired by Bob Kraft because Kraft didn't like him. It was because he was damaging his profit margin.

It's called Capitalism. The guy who posted posts #41 and #44 doesn't understand that.

If you cost your employer business you're gonna get canned.

I'm talking "A", you're arguing "12serwfytegv3". They're not the same topic. Thanks for your input, though.

Because he's not doing a good job?...

How is questioning someone's "blackness" now equal to not doing a good job? I'm not talking about his overall ability.

Ahhh.... So the problem is that you're just clueless about the PC atmosphere in the media. Got it.

True but in this case I doubt this will cost them money. Anything controversial helps ratings. So maybe this could have helped his job because until now, I don't know about most viewers, but every time Parker came on, I groaned and felt like turning the channel. Weakest of all debaters.

I just think he picked on a kid that really doesn't deserves it who also happens to be one of the darlings of the NFL. Not a good idea.

Capitalism.

If you cost your employer business, you get canned. Unless you're daddy is your employer.

Unfortunate that that has to be spelled out for you.

Sorry for your confusion as to why this guy's job is in trouble, why Limbaugh was canned from ABC and why Snyder was canned from CBS. If you think it is because of executives' "personal PC consciousness" then you're ripe for buying Iowa beachfront property.

Maybe tomorrow someone can explain to you how checking accounts work.

Read more carefully. That's not why I think he does a bad job.

He often gets facts wrong.
He often comes on the show unprepared and puts up the weakest debate.
A few months ago it was like a big deal to him that he actually used a stat sheet.
He often asks Skip and Stephen A to help him with stats and historical facts and they often have to correct him.
It's clear to me that unlike the other two, he doesn't put in the work before he comes on.

Like yesterday when he said Brady didn't score a touchdown in the AFC Championship game last year.

That's why I think he's not doing a good job. He's a lazy debater who just shows up.

He's that too but in this case he's also a bigot

Please get a grip on how this really works. Some things are off limits and get people canned, regardless of whether or not the bottom line is impacted. Other things are protected and boycotts are either ignored or ridden out to see if they can be survived.

You either know this and are just being you, or you are clueless on the very thing you're trying to belittle me about. Whichever of those happens to be correct doesn't matter, because either of them means that continuing this with you is of no value.

Arbitrary controversy works for only certain media companies.

This is why Howard Stern is on Sirius radio and not WNNNNNNNNBC. It's why Al Sharpton is where he is and Rush Limbaugh is where he is. Neither would be on an ABC, CBS or NBC.

ESPN is not trying to be THAT edgy. Somewhat edgy, but not Howard Stern edgy. They also have an NCAA contract.

Your point is valid in that this will probably help Parker get a 6-7 figure book contract or a Sirius gig. Not sure this helps him with ESPN (Disney).
