here's some news...Edelman had 220 + yards in total today...cut him and sign Fanununonnanaynay

This isn't the thread for jumping off the bridge, so I'll just say that Gronk tonight was absolutely breathtaking -- his power, speed, flexibility and ability to catch the ball were just incredible.

I can't think I've ever seen a tight end who came close. The sad thing is that it was clearly his first healthy game of the season.

Hurry back, big man! :rocker:

I just want to know what defenders are supposed to do. You can't run straight on into a QB. You can't drop your head and go helmet to chest. All that's left seems to be shoulder to chest, and is that any better?

Your sig pic shows two perfectly fine ways to tackle the QB. :)

I was a bit surprised that Adam got booed. He clutched 3 SB game winning FGs and left because BB didn't commit to a contract. I wasn't expecting cheers but the obvious uptick in booing when he attempted FGs was surprising.

How is that surprising? The 3 SB FGs don't have ANY bearing on the game played today.. As soon as the coin flip happened, he was part of the enemy. You boo the opposing team when your team is on defense. Plain and simple.

Serious question: those who argued against keeping McCourty at FS and making Talib and Dennard the corners, how are you feeling about it at this point? What would you like to see next week, facing a VERY different offense?

Speaking as someone who wanted McCourty at FS and the other 2 starting at CB.

One thing i did notice today is the Run defence was more lacking than usual. McCourty did seem a little slow sometimes to diagnose and react in run support.

Not complaining as i think this will come with experience at the position but it was something i noticed none the less.

The Patriots lost to the Cards and damn near lost to the Bills. I wouldn't get too ****y for rolling over a team with a rookie QB in a rebuilding year.

If you'd actually watched the game against the Cards, you'd have known the replacement refs had a huge part in that loss.

As for today, you team lost. In fact, they got embarrassed. Plain and simple. Rebuilding year or not. They fumbled the ball 4 times and threw 3 interceptions. You want to throw out rebuilding, I'll throw out the Pats missing their 2 starting guards and a starting TE. Then losing their best DE early in the game. Yet the Pats still put up 59 points on the Colts....

Was anyone surprised to see Arrington start over Dennard or was it just me?

I'm guessing that was a "last chance" start for Mr. Arrington.

I'm more interested if Cole continues to play in the nickel over Arrington.

I don't really understand why people are calling those penalties BS; they are are textbook cases of the penalties. You hit the QB in the facemask with your facemask, it should be a penalty every time. In fact, the Pats were lucky another wasn't called against them at another point. With how lopsided the penalties were, I was shocked it wasn't called.

You don't know what you are talking about. That was a TEXTBOOK tackle. And the replay showed that Mayo's helmet DIDN'T hit Luck's. Hell, Simms even said that the replay didn't show the helmet to helmet hit. The Helmet to Helmet on a QB is NOT supposed to be called if it is incidental.

We had this discussion earlier in the week and posted the exact RULE. Go read it so that you actually understand.

McCourty is fine tackling as a CB. He's not at that level when he's at safety. Having Gregory as the other safety means the team has two non-hitters at the position, which makes them more susceptible to the run. The answer would seem to be that the Patriots go with Chung or Wilson, but they've been lousy, too.

it's amazing how good this secondary looks when the Pats blitz...then when they rush three, nobody is five yards close to any receiver...weird

Wilson hasn't been lousy so much as making the normal rookie mistakes that one makes learning a BB defense.

McCourty and Gregory put some nice licks on Allen and Avery during the game.

that wasn't a helmet to helmet call...it was unnecessary roughness as called on the loudspeakers...unless that is the generic term for helmet to helmet...I'm so confused on all these new rules...you know, I've been a Pats fan from day 1 and I've seen literally thousands and thousands of hits over the years...that tackle today was as textbook as you can ask for..yet THAT is now a penalty....we used to joke about flags but think about it...that is the next logical step in this homogenized, sanitized "league".

We disagree. I was in favor of keeping Wilson as a starter, but that was despite my opinion that he's been lousy.

Wilfork's got interceptions. That doesn't make him a CB. Neither Gregory nor McCourty are big hit, run stuffing, safeties. They play the position differently.

He made the same call against Mayo that was called against Spikes last week. They called it Unnecessary Roughtness - Helmet to Helmet to the QB. NFL.Com has it as Roughing the Passer..

And I agree. It was textbook. They are NOT supposed to call incidental contact, but they seem to do it anyways. As I stated, even Phil Simms said it was a bad call.. And when he says it's a bad call, you KNOW it's a bad call.

So, you don't give him any leeway for being a rookie. Fine. We disagree. You clearly are too judgmental of him.

So, now you do what you complain about others doing. You move the goal posts. And before you make some BS statement that you aren't, yes you are. You said NOTHING about being bit hit, run stuffing safeties. You called them NON-HITTERS. And that is BS on your part. As I pointed out, they made some nice hits today. Which kind of negates the idea that they are non-hitters.

BTW, you statement about Wilfork is non-sensical to the discussion. Not surprising.

My mistake. I thought you wanted to discuss this stuff. I didn't realize you wanted to just post really idiotic attacks. I'll just consider us done on this thread.

After seeing McCourty's fly-in and rip out the ball play I'm convinced he's a Safety.
