Trade Wes now?

i see no reason to trade Welker, Brandon Lloyd only has one 1000 yead rec season in he's 10 year career Branch has never had one and the rest of the WR's are JAG's and everyone on this bord was saying WR was a weakness last year so why trade the best one on the team

Negative Nellie. Sheesh. How about the flip side...

-Lloyd had the best year of his career 2 years ago under McD and TB is now throwing to him.

-Branch is a highly functional #4 option in this offense and has a great repore with TB

-Gaffney is coming off his best season and also has a great repore with TB.

-Stallworth is a solid bottom of the core WR. 25-30 catches is a reasonable expectation.

Trading WW would weaken the offense but keep in mind Gronk and AH were TBs #2 and #3 targets so it's not like their offense would be totally screwed w/o WW.

im not trying to be "Negative Nellie" lol i just dont see what the pats will gain by tardeing Welker now other then saveing 9 million that they dont need i dont see how it will help the team IMO

Barring an absolutely ridiculous haul in return (i.e. the aforementioned Calvin Johnson/Larry Fitzgerald), it would be really stupid to trade Welker. Then again, it wouldn't be the first really stupid trade Belichick's made.

...with Burgess being numero uno.

It would have to be for a first rounder with top 10 potential. Not 2014 either. Fitzgerald and CJ aren't coming here with those insane contracts btw.

Now that camp is here it's apparent the season can't get here fast enough...

kewl story, dewd...

haaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, this pic is freaking hilarious.....and NO re: Welker trade, as you all were...actually, let's add a few more pics..

If we're going to trade Wes now, lets trade Brady too. We can probably get a second or third for him. Hoyer and Mallett by all accounts are both Canton bound so how could it backfire?

Please Lord let camp start already!!!!

They should trade Brady, Hoyer can fill his shoes easily, it's just a system offense, and he's old and expensive. they could easily get a 2nd for him, that would be awesome.

why trade him? after this year when he hits the road, the pats will get a 2014 3rd rounder

At first I thought that this was another thread from Dartmouth.

that's all I have to say on this matter.

Let me think about this one... and my answer is....

He can't be signed to an extension until the season is over, by us or anyone he is traded to, right? Not sure but I think that's the case with the new CBA. He has no leverage.

Thus he would be a one year rental for the team hypothetically trading for him.

Meaning, we get squat.

From a logical perspective, then, he is worth more to us staying, even for just one year, than he would bring in trade. From an emotional perspective, I just give this suggestion a big HELL NO and move on.

sure...why not...

then we wake up the next morning and go...

Wes deserves a Super Bowl ring.

Almost any receiver not named Reche Caldwell .

Except that Reche Caldwell wasn't the problem. It was the receivers behind him..How quickly people forget that the Pats actually scored 2 plays after Reche's drop.

27 offensive points (pick 6 by Asante to make it 34) is enough to win a playoff game and should be expected to be enough by a defense that finished allowing 14ppg during the regular season. Colts or no Colts.

The lack of a 2nd 1/2 running game did as well.

Not to mention that Kelvin Hayden undressed Caldwell in the endzone with no call by the refs when Caldwell was the intended receiver. Every other team gets the Pass Interference call on that one..
