Even without Chad and Gonzalez, I can't fit all the receivers onto the team that deserve to make an NFL roster. The way I see it, either someone needs to get injured in TC, we cut Stallworth, we cut Edelman or we trade Welker. Cutting Stallworth earns us nothing. Cutting Edelman hurts our depth at WR, KR/PR and DB. Trading Welker... well, if a team like Jacksonville offers a 2nd rounder, I would take it and move on. Even without Wes, we can still play Lloyd - Gaffney - Gronk - Branch - Stallworth five across, with Woodhead, Edelman and Hernandez all as viable alternatives. Not too shabby. And there is plenty of precedent to trading a highly regarded and productive veteran: Vrabel, Seymour, Bledsoe... Tebucky Jones, lol. All it took was for a team to offer the right draft compensation. I don't know if there's a trade market for Welker, or if teams are convinced he's a product of the system. If no one makes a quality offer, no question I'd be happy to have Wes for another season or three. But for the right offer, now would seem to be the right time for it.
