I hate Red Sox and Allen talk, but let's face it, those are the stories right now.

Sure the Pats are just around the corner, but they'll be widely talked about when we actually do reach that corner.

All of us are diehard Pats fans, but by looking at the messageboard threads recently, even we don't have much to go on right now.

And it's not just Pats fans, it is the league. All I hear on NFL radio on Sirius is lowering the threshhold for blackouts and Drew Brees and Bountygate. It is dead right now.

Just think the Olympics are almost here as well.

It is summer time mang. Get out doors, grill up some good food and tip back some cold brews. Football will be here in September.

IMO the Summer Season has nothing on the Football Season.

My favorite Seasons in order
Football season
Fall
Spring
Summer
Winter

Not much beats the fall in New England IMO, Cool but not to cold, Football, Basketball, and Hockey all get going, playoff baseball, Halloween, Fall folliage.

The best thing about Summer in New England is the Sea Food. You can take this heat and go away though.

Then don't listen to talk radio. Put together a compilation of music on your MP3 Player/Ipod and listen to that instead. You'll be a lot happier..

I'm more prone to watching some Olympic sports more than others.

I stopped regularly listening to local sports-talk radio a long time ago. I think it all started in 2003-2004, when the Pats were in the midst of the greatest winning streak in NFL history, and all the talking heads around here wanted to talk about was A-Rod coming to Boston.

The season can't come fast enough for me. Good thing Pats camp starts in less than two weeks. We're SO close!

As of this week, local sports radio can be summed up like this:
  • Ray left the Celtics. He is a jerk. No he's not. (debate)
  • The Red Sox blow and their ownership is out of touch. It's one big dysfunctional family. (discuss)
  • Joe Paterno is lucky he died when he did. Penn State covered up and looked the other way on a lot of disgusting acts. Sandusky can rot in hell (all agree).
  • Oh, and Drew Brees is over paid.

It's summer! Time to play guitar, eat seafood and go to cookouts, drive with the windows down along 495 and look at the route 1 exit and think "It's just the calm before the storm. The rest of the NFL must be made to suffer!" and let out an evil laugh!

This is why the best 3 bucks a month is access to Sirius/XM radio online. NFL Radio, while not covering the Pats 24/7, is better than the local alternative. And for those into fantasy, they have a fantasy channel as well which is going to start an afternoon FF show next week.

Celtics fan, but admittedly I just watch them in the playoffs, so I don't know that much about the team. But as far as I could tell. Ray Allen is no longer an average NBA player. He is a 3-pt specialist and still can get hot, but he can't play defense, pass, dribble, drive, etc. He will be a good fit on the Heat because they will free him up for a lot of shots.

How are you gettting Sirius/XM online for $3. All I can find is some $15ish option. I'd be in for $3 for sure just for NFL Radio along with some of the rock stations especially the Pink Floyd one that they have running right now.

You really need to stop listening to sports talk radio/watching sports television in the summer. There's a reason a lot of the big guys take their breaks now anyways.

The only thing to talk about is the mid-season of a tedious 162 game MLB schedule. I know it's tough because it's just so routine for most of us but really, save yourself the torture. You can only listen to the same Red Sox storyline rehashed over four hours so many times.

-Late August - February (MLB divison, wild card races/playoffs, NFL season)
-April - June (NFL Draft, NBA playoffs everynight)

Is more than enough. February, June, July and August are worst months in sports to me. March has the NCAA torny and NFL free agency to save it.

I will say though, I could not be any less interested in all the "silly" Patriots offseason stuff. (Gronk naked, Kraft punching p***ies, Brady giving out candy). Not that it's hurting anyone, it's just not worthy of really paying attention to, for me personally.

  • Don't forget the "fascinating" debate of the 2012 Olympic basketball team vs the 1992 team! You know you're in trouble when you're dedicating segments to hypothetical Olympic basketball (which our country doesn't really care about) matchups.

Time for you kids to come out of Mommy's basement and broaden your horizons. If your entire sporting life revolves around the New England Patriots then you are in serious need of a life. Only thing worse than being like that is actually admitting to it. :D How sad!
Kids, there's a big wide world out there beyond that hoodie. Go explore....

Go Sox!!
And the 1992 Olympic basketball Dream Team would destroy today's group. Would kill 'em!!

Perfect! I picked up a new car on Friday and it comes with 6 months of free Sirius radio.

One of my problems with local sports radio has always been that they don't cover much of anything outside this area. That has gotten worse now that the sports teams control the radio stations.

On Ray Allen I have to admit that I'm biased. I talked to him once at a golf tourney two years ago and he's one of the nicest celebrities that I've ever met. He's right up there with Bobby Orr when it comes to taking the time to be nice to the fans.
