Pick #27- you'll be very disappointed if Pats pass on whom?

At #27 overall:

Fletcher Cox

That'd be great. I'd love it.

Too bad he'll likely be gone by the late teens at the very latest though.

Upshaw is the guy I would be disappointed to pass on at 27.

Fair enough, but would his talents equate to his being a fit here?

I'm not so sure, as much as I like him.

Isn't he more of a 4-3 one gapping DE?

I think at 279 he should be a better 2 gapper than any of draft prospect. He plays with good leverage and great playing strength both of which should help him 2 gap.

Fair enough, sounds good to me.

I'm on board with his skills, but have seen some projections where they feel as though he's more of a 4-3 DE.

I honestly did not know one way or another, as I haven't looked to specific players too closely yet.

Right now the Pats have Arrington (a UDFA) as one starting corner, and Chung (#33) as the Strong Safety, he has wastIs ed a first, two seconds, a third and fourth, on guys that are no longer with the team. McCourty a CB? He stunk last year, I don't know if he was hurt or what. Please don't even mention Made of Glass, he won't make it out of camp before he goes on Ras-IR. The Pats have 10 guys on the roster right now they are listed as DBs and another listed as a WR.
If you're right about Ras-I Dowling, and I think you may be, I'll have to cry. But right now I'm laughing.

Very funny, sir! (I wish we had taken the speedy WR last year out of Maryland the Ravens nabbed. At least he would have played the whole season and given Brady the deep threat that may have propelled us over the hump against the Giants.)

How disappointed can I be. I expect 27 or 31 to be traded for a 2013 1st plus a 2012 2nd. The only questions for me is which 1st will be traded and how far down in the second will we go.

Down far enough not to get a good defensive lineman or pass rusher.

I'm looking forward to a trade up this year. BB has done a lot of trading down and it certainly has caused a lot of ire in the hearts of Pats' fans, but I think if a guy he likes is still on the board at pick 20 or so, then he's going to try and get him.

I'm not a big fan of this draft and don't get the feel that it has the depth of talent to warrant trading back. I think you have to get your guy this year, because the level of talent just isn't there.

Two guys I'd be willing to go after would be Kuechly and Ingram, though I doubt we have the ammo for that.

I am unsure how Ingram fits into our defense.

And really isn;t Keuchly's best position in our defense the same one Mayo plays? However if Keuchly gets by Seattle, he could very well fall to us at #27.

I like Ingram as a 4-3 DE. He's not the longest guy, but he is rock solid at 6'2" and 275. He's a natural pass rusher with very good athleticism. I think he's a great fit for a 4-3.

I look at Kuechly for the same scheme. I see him as a being able to transition to OLB in a 4-3 as Mayo did. Now, I love Mayo on the inside as an ILB, but I'm looking at Kuechly and Mayo as guys who can cover a lot of ground quickly, leaving the run stuffer and middle man-Spikes-to clean up inside.

Neither fits near as well for us if we line up in the 3-4.

So you don't want a pro bowl potential safety but you want an inexperienced run stuffing only DT. We have Kyle Love for that.

Agreed. I don't want Brockers. We need a DL who can rush the passer more than another fatty..

As for the question I'll give mine by position

CB: Kirkpatrick or Jenkins
DE/OLB Ingram
OLine DeCastro/Martin

Yet Belichick often played Wilfork at DE and Love at NT because they don't have enough good "fatties." Get somebody who can hold their own against the run on the outside and Wilfork can go back to the middle where he belongs.

Yes, and don't play Vince as much as last year.

I view #27 as a re-do of the apparent second round blunder with the BC kid who likes to sit around watching cartoons. What's his name?

The pick I would be bummed about would be Peter Konz. Nice player, but doesn't give us a huge impact and doesn't solve our defensive woes.

Keuchly. I can't imagine he will be there but if he is and they passed it would suck.

If the Patriots move up to get Mark Barron with 27 I will be nauseated.

I feel the same. I doubt that'd happen. I don't think BB would value the safety position enough to trade multiple picks to nab Barron.

Maybe for a DE?

Courtney Upshaw, I think the guys ia a great football player and am not concerned that he's not as athletic as some people think he should be. I also think we can find a place for him in a 3-4 or 4-3.

My answer too.

Courtney Upshaw, Alabama, NFL Draft - CBSSports.com - NFLDraftScout.com gives me a bit of a Willie McGinest feel about Upshaw. Yes, I know Willie was taller and at some point faster. But I think of Willie as smart, strong, and possessed of some pass-rushing flair, and Upshaw would seem to share those traits.

And I'm guess his Pro Day wasn't really a good reflection of him, for whatever reasons.
