Will BB FINALLY address the Pass Rush in the 1st rd?

I think based on whats happened so far in the draft preparation that theres a real chance they want Courtney Upshaw.

I really hope the top 4 picks go to defensive needs.
Also hope we are somehow able to get an impact D player in free agency or trade on the cheap somehow.

I also wouldn't mind seeing a 1st and 2nd traded for a better 1st -- get a close to sure thing, and 2 that you hope have impacts right away rather than 4 that you hope have impacts

To be honest, I'd rather draft Mark Barron from Alabama than Courtney Upshaw from Alabama with the 27th overall pick.

He won't and for good reason. Finding a stud pass rusher even in the first round is difficult.

Solder was need, we had no LT on the roster.
McCourty was need
Mayo was need
Wilfork was need
Graham was need
Mankins was need
Meriwheter was need
Maroney was need
Seymour was need

Those are just the first rounders. The only first round pick that hasn't clearly fit need is Watson, but we have also strived for 2 TE offense, so thats probably need too.

Technically every area could be seen as a 'need' so I don't see the point of listing the guys you listed. In my post I said GLARING needs which none of the guys you listed were as obvious. Pass rush for example has been an obvious need since '08 and we've never taken a DE/OLB with a high pick. Which is why when they were drafted most people are scratching their heads if they're not familiar with BB's style.

Yeah it's a very tough position to land a good one, the odds just aren't there. It's easy to name the good ones we passed on in recent years but the list is longer of pass rushers we would have been stoked to see the Pats get in the 1st that have turned into total busts.

Where do you get this stuff, you honestly are comedy gold.

Do you live ina bubble where you are all powerful chief scout of VrabelJr Sharks, who are an invisible 33rd team in the nfl?

I think you're a bit jealous that I know a lot more than you. It's been obvious from day one.

Bill Will Get A Pass Rusher in the First Round??

:pigsfly: :pigsfly: :pigsfly:

How many of us were drooling over Brandon Graham and Sergio Kindle? Graham has done next to nothing and Kindle hasn't even put pads on yet and look how hard we are on Jermaine Cunningham. If we draft a pass rusher in the 1st round and they end up being a bust 90% of this forum will have a heart attack. That might not be a bad thing, though...

I think it will, why? Because he really doesn't have a choice, just like when they drafted Mayo, they painted themselves in a corner, where they had to draft a MLB, they now do not really have a choice at this point. They don't have a OLB (3-4) or DE (4-3), unless they are counting on Ninkovich (who have shown some flashes), and Cunningham:eek::eek: I hope they are not counting on Cunningham!:(

Cunningham basically got a red shirt year to work out and learn from a true professional in Andre Carter.

This seems very likely.

Personally, I prefer drafting a DL in the first.

He'll pick a DB with one of the two 1st round picks, and will trade the other for a 1st next year...

That would be nice, if it wasn't in his second season.

I view it as a wash since he got to start his rookie year.

If he doesn't improve dramatically, I think he's a strong candidate to be a midseason cut, like Bodden or Haynesworth last year.

He was repping with the first team unit at DE when the Pats started out at camp. I';d say they wanted to see what he could do for them there in a different system and he didn't pick it up. IMO he would have started had he been able to get it....but he didn't.

If we go back to primarily 3-4 then I expect him to do a good job. He showed flashes in his rookie year and was really coming along at the end of it. Thought he had some promise at the position.

If we stay with this new hybrid style he's going to ahve to start getting it...and FAST.

Actually, he has, at least on ST. But your basic point still stands. :)
