Schefter: Pats sign Brandon Lloyd

Could spell doom for Deion Branch. While Lloyd is great YAC, he is one of the leagues slower WR. Consistently ran in the low 4.6's after college. As he enters his 10th NFL season, it would be a feat if he could still run below 4.7.

This is a GREAT signing. He can beat the jam, has great body control, superb hands and YAC ability. I expect 1200 + yards and 10 - 15 TD's. But he won't take the top off of a defense. That guy probably comes in the draft.

You don't need a guy to take the top off the defense. You just need a guy that keeps the safeties away from the line of scrimmage. That was the biggest problem with the offense last year.

Lloyd will be the toughest WR for defenses to stop in the Brady era IMO.

Maaaaaan, when does training camp start because I need it to be now.
I cant wait for training camp. I have 2 VIP tickets to training camp. Food and drinks and a place to sit all included. I CANT WAIT!!

Before Lloyd was signed today, I was working my butt off on my power point presentation and outline for my speech to inform on tornado formation and once I finished it, Lloyd was signed! I guess thats god telling me to worry about my college work than seeing who signed where!

The offense now needs some depth along the OL and maybe a FB and I think the offense is done for next season already,no more big names needed except maybe a JAG or two at cheap rates.

If the draft isn't 85% spent on defense this season,I don't know when it will ever be.

Brandon Lloyd replica jersey: $80

Two tickets to see this offense in person with him added: $200

Triktak being banned for posting a profanity and personal attack-filled thread about how we were going to blow the Lloyd signing: priceless

Ah, here's to the fools posting here in the 4PM thread just a couple HOURS into FA shrieking that we were to slow to sign anyone and FA was a disaster.

having watched alot of this guy, when denver played sd

this could turn out to be the best wr signing of FA , when you factor in brady

this dude makes sick catches

What was Lloyds injury in 2007 and 2009? Only played in a few games those years

Well, this makes the offense pretty much set. All that's really needed is a running back to fill the stable, a 3rd tight end (maybe) and, via the draft, a WR and an interior OL. What this means for Messieurs Branch, Johnson, Gonzalez and Underwood remains to be seen.

Brady
Ridley
Lloyd
Welker
Gronk
Hernandez
Light/Solder
Mankins
Connolly/Koppen(?)
Waters
Vollmer/Solder

Rookie WR/Branch/Underwood/Johson
Edelman/Gonzalez
TE3
Vereen/Woodhead/RB4
Backup OLs
Backup QB(s)

Well done on offense so far, Mr. Belichick. Now, make me giddy. Draft a burner of a WR with one of those early picks. :rocker:

right now you're kickin the tires on fells out of denver (TE)

he'd be a really solid depth signing

I'm happy with this signing, don't get me wrong. If he gives us what he's been doing the past 2 years I am so excited. But I don't get why he was not very good from 07-10. That gives me slight pause.

Are you forgetting Randy Moss's 1493 and 23 despite being consistently double covered? Brandon Lloyd is not in that class.

That's great. He's going to be great in this offense.

Just one question.....Why the *uck didn't we sign him last season when we had the chance? Pats would have won the SB.

We tried to trade for him. I believe he refused to restructure his contract. In hindsight, we should have told Ocho Crapo to do that and then trade for him.

landryand manny lawson/wimbley and im stoked for free agency, i guess im being greedy

He wasn't a free agent, he was still under contract with the Broncos and it wasn't until mid-October that he got traded. Having said that, it would have been nice if we had been the ones trading a 5th/6th rounder for Lloyd instead of the Rams.

This is the better answer.

AWESOME!

Talk about addressing need areas, and we haven't even had the draft yet. What a great bleeping day.

I'm greeding, so let's sign the Law Firm and a good blocking TE like Daniel Fells. Thank you. :)

The big thing to worry about is not talent because we know he has that, the worry is him being a problem child if things aren't going his way.

He seems to have a reputation of being a Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde inside and off the field .....I hope he isn't a concern in the locker room.

Yeah, I've heard about the interest in Fells, but he's not signed, and he's not a player from last year's team, so I didn't name him. Hey, since you're an outsider (Chargers fan), tell me what you think of the following statement in terms of accuracy:

I figure the Patriots just made sure that they remain far and away the best offense in the AFC. The Chargers were the closest last season, and they were more than 6.5 ppg behind, and they've lost Jackson. If this team can learn to play legit defense, it'll be the odds on favorite for the Super Bowl.

Unfortunately, the New England Patriots traded a fifth round draft pick in the 2012 NFL Draft for a snake oil salesman from Cincinnati wearing a wide receiver uniform.
