And now you understand the error that NEM constantly makes.
Plays are judged good or bad only if they succeed, and that is measured after the play is done. Execution counts for naught. Good play by the defenders or bad play by a Pat matters not a smidgeion. Its all success, or the OC is an idiot...
That Safety was way way off of CJ. He wasn't within fifteen yards at the snap. I actually think the safety realized that CJ was uncovered at perhaps just a moment before the snap, and raced over to try to re-cover from the Team error.
The safety made a good play, but if the timing were slightly different, its relatively easy to sidestep a guy coming at you fill tilt. The open CJ could have gone a long way.
What was wrong with the play is Chad made a rookie mistake. He telegraphed the play. Chad's body language and lean tipped off the defender...which might surprise others on this board but is a NFL professional football player and if they EXECUTE thier assignments can...gasp sometimes stop even a well designed play. I played wide receiver at a fairly high level and believe me it was obvious what he was going to do. Add to that I am sure the defender could see even more in his eyes and being that close knowing tendencies ect.
I will also add I know he telegraphed the play because when I was starting out I did the EXACT same thing. Chad just got over eger and wanted to do his assignment properly.
Of course I am waiting for the "documentation" that was promised how putting up those points on the Jags and winning the AFC East is irrelevant as our OC is a "punk" among other things. I may miss it though as the joy has been sucked out of this board as I have to hear posters berate our team and I frequent the board much less now and rarely post as every thread I have to read how the Pats are so bad and insults about our coaches.
I don't need kool aid drinkers and you can complain about certain things but even with big wins you can rest assurred that the joy will be sucked out of you if you come to this board after a W and read how the play calling sucked. It has been the same after EVERY GAME THIS YEAR. Even the Bengals game still had complaints...oh and praise not for our OC, play calling...but for a "fan" who somehow thought the Pats listen to him.
What are we 2nd or 3rd in red zone? That is the mark of consistantcey but facts are in short supply on this board now and it is like listening to Red Sox fans (of which I am one..but don't complain and actually WANT them to win)
I would like nothing better than to come to this board and celebrate another Pats SB this year but if we do win it all I don't want to kill my euphoria by coming here and hearing how this or that sucked or some back hand comment how the "win" will be savored but later there will be posts on how our "punk" OC almost screwed it up.
Anyways only posted here because I had some insight on why that play didn't work and to vent. enternally hoping for an A**clown forum here so it can be enjoyable again.
Personally watching the Pats for the love of my team not to find fault in them........
