Ty Warren Cut ! Crumpler, Kaczur, TBC, Stroud cut too

I think it became personal between TW and BB. Same thing with Seymour, from what i remember he attended his Grandmothers funeral, going against BB wishes. I think as a HC you can't allow yourself to sap the team of talent because a player may piss you off from time to time. I Never could understand why BB was so angry at Seymour, it was his Grandmother or Grandfather, not someone he hardly knew.

Bill was never angry at Seymour. Seymour stayed past the funeral. He'd been given time off. He never called to clear any more. Bill was simply setting a tone with a young man who was being groomed for leadership. Richard never accepted that. He felt he should be the exception to the rule. Most players want to believe they are too. Bill and the organization bent over backwards to accommodate Seymour after the fact. They increased his pay to end his holdout. They promoted him to the public as a leader tried to show him the potential benefits of becoming an icon in a sports town. Kraft took him to Israel. They gave him a new deal at top tier money a year later. But they had their doubts it would ever workout, which is why it was a 3 year extension and not a 7 year one, and it didn't. Richard could not play effectively hurt, he was hurt a lot, and he seemed to think that is what it is. He'd become increasingly vocal even as he became less impactful or productive. He became the guy who raised him as a rookie, Lawyer Milloy. Bill loved them both but they were not the players he hoped they'd be. Both became entitled and complacent.

I think Warren was trending in the same direction, although he never was a vocal leader or complainer. Never really emerged as a leader at all. Took his money early in a discounted extension and then coasted. Bill needed leaders to step up on defense on and off the field in 2009 and he didn't have any. Mayo was just a sophomore and coming back from injury, Wilfork didn't step up either - but he had issues related to being in his contract year. Seymour had one foot out the door. AD had both feet out the door. It was as Bill calls them a situation, and Warren failed to step up and play it. And coming off it he decided to skip the 2010 off season and go back to school... And then days into camp he reinjured something he had chosen not to take care of sooner and he decided to take care of it right then and there. TBC syndrome... Well, Bill decided this year it was time for the team to move on.

As long as they ultimately deliver, Bill is generally more forgiving than this fan base when it comes to players taking care of their business. He is also better equipped and less forgiving than most of this fan base when it comes to assessing performance and whether or not they are taking care of his business which is preparing to win football games and championships.

I thought this quote was significant:

Asked about his relationship with Belichick, Warren said, "Bill's a unique guy. There's some things that toward the end of my career we didn't agree on. At the same time, you can't make him happy all the time and he can't make me happy all the time. At the end of the day I respect him as a good coach and as someone who was very good at preparing the team. But that's about as far as it goes."
Doesn't sound like a guy who is really excited about his job. Neither did this: "I look forward to bigger and better things".

Warren: Change in defensive plans spurred release

really think TW is starting his journey into whatever happened to

Surpised that Ty and Alge have gone!

Either Alge will be back for vet minimum, or they are very high on Smith!

Not surprised with NK going!

I didn't see the Ty Warren cut coming either. Sigh.

Looks like Brace is doing better than some folks thought.

Smith== A Monster Beast!

Definite possibility. It's possible that we re-sign him to the vet min. and then place him on reserve PUP. Makes for a nice reinforcement mid-season.

I was kind of surprised to see him on that list, I thought he'd done a really nice job for us, really stepped up last season too. Good to know the door's still open for him :rocker:

This is the second straight year that Warren has shown up for camp out of shape and immediately hurt himself because he refuses to keep in shape in the offseason. Its got nothing to do with being personal, it has to do with him not being willing to put in the work anymore.

This is false. Warren hurt the hip prior to the 2010 season and played through the injury for 2 years. He didn't "show up out of shape, as you claim.

This idea that he's "not willing to put in the work anymore" is unsubstantiated BS on your part. Especially since you can do all the stretching you want and still pull a hamstring.

Now, where he and the team might have diverged is that they might have suggested/TOLD Warren to get the surgery done after the end of the 2009 season and he didn't, opting instead to finish out his degree. What is interesting is that the NFL and the Patriots are HUGE supporters of players doing this. Not after their careers are over, but in between seasons.

We'll never truly know because Warren is too classy of a guy to say anything and the Pats are too classy as well.

there is a reason for the release- and its not because TW was the leader of this D

I was sad to here about Warren and Crumpler! :(

Surpised by the cut of Ty Warren. What I can't understand is why BB didn't trade Warren for some draft picks?? No major baggage and been a productive player. I could have seen a Warren / Haynesworth swap. I have to conclude that Warren is either injured and wouldn't pass a physical or BB is doing him a favor by just cutting him so he can choose his destination.

Tom Curran's article on Ty Warren leaving

Warren: Change in defensive plans spurred release Curran has the most coherent set of Ty Warren quotes I've seen. He also offers a gracious shout-out to Miguel.

Warren confirms that he and BB didn't see eye to eye on certain stuff, without giving details, and that their personal relationship, while not toxic, also isn't great.

I do NOT read Warren's quotes, however, as being as suggestive of a scheme change as some of the reporters (including Curran) are. ("Different direction" can just mean they've hired new guys for his old job.) What's more, to the extent Warren really is suggesting a scheme change, he's probably just guessing.

Re: Tom Curran's article on Ty Warren leaving

My opinion of doing things "differently on defense" is that they want 330 pound Ron Brace at LE rather than 285 pound Ty Warren. I think he screwed himself over by getting that light.

That and he and BB didn't see eye to eye on a few things he did...surgery timing, school....conditioning....

Hate to see Ty go, but hated to see Sey,Milloy,Vrabel and a few others go also but the Patriots were better in the long run because of it.....

In BB I Trust :rocker:

Does this team have money left to make another significant move?

Its substantiated by the fact that he skipped the offseason workouts last year because he had other things to do. Its substantiated by the fact that he showed up this year after not doing any sort of offseason work, again, failed his physical, and immediately hurt himself jogging.

If football was important, he would have shown up this year to camp in the best shape of his career. We'd be hearing about Warren working out at API, etc.

He's either not keeping himself in shape, or his body can't handle it anymore. Either way, hes not very useful.

From a football perspective... i don't get cutting Warren unless he is injured.

I am really dissapointed by the Warren trade especially and not shocked but crumpler was a favourite of mine so i am a little dissapointed about that one too even though i know it was because of his cap figure.

In my head i had a sweet Dline of Warren Wilfork Haynesworth dominating other d's this year.

I understand the move i just woke up to this news very very dissapointed after a great day yesterday.
