WR Riley McCarron was assigned #84, which Nate Washington had in the 2016 off season. It was first worn by Art Graham, and later by Darryl Stingley, Shawn Jefferson, Ben Watson and Deion Branch.

QB Tyler Heinicke gets #8, which has been worn by only a handful of Patriots. It had most recently gone to Brian Hoyer and punter Josh Miller.

CB Jomal Wiltz retains #42. Didn't catch what jersey CB Robert Nelson had.

A couple jersey updates.

LB Trevor Reilly will wear #51. Keionta Davis (NFI) was assigned that number in August. Barkevious Mingo wore #59 last year; prior to that is belonged to Jerod Mayo.

#44 goes to TE Will Tye. Ger Schwedes had that uniform number as the original Patriot in 1960. Since then it has been worn by Don Calhoun, John Stephens and Heath Evans, among others. TE Asante Cleveland was the last player to wear #44 in a regular season game, in 2015.

Updated to include the trade of Garoppolo, the loss of Blackson to the Houston Texans and the addition of Hoyer..

A couple jersey updates.

Hoyer gets #2; in his first stint with the Patriots he wore #8. Hoyer wore #6 with Arizona and Cleveland, #7 with Houston, and #2 for Chicago and San Francisco. The last Patriot to wear #2 was Doug Flutie in 2005.

On the Practice Squad, DB Damarius Travis wore #45 during training camp; since the season began he was assigned #39. Other #39s include Sam Cunningham (1973-82), Laurence Maroney (2006-09), Danny Woodhead (2010-12), Brandon Browner (2014), Travaris Cadet (2015), Steven Jackson (2015) and EJ Biggers (2016).

Not sure what number WR Jake Kumerow has; he had #84 when he was with the Bengals but Riley McCarron has that jersey now.

Updated with Hoyer, Jean-Francois, and Purcell.

Of Note: McClellin will not be returning. one IR-DTR is gone because of it..

Ricky Jean- Francois has been assigned #94..

Added Bennett. Removed Grissom.
Added Anthony Fabiano - OL - Harvard
Removed Jake Kumerow - WR

Bennett will again don #88 for the Patriots.

Fabiano - OG/OC
6' 3 6/8" - 303 lbs - 32 1/4" arms - 9 3/8" hands

Bench - 25
Vertical - 32 1/2
Broad - 9'00
Short Shuttle- 4.42
3 Cone - 7.41
From NFLDraftscout.com:

" Fabiano has a squatty, wide body with the initial quickness to set-up and sit in his stance to engage defenders, using his strong hands to keep rushers from his body. He is extremely intelligent, but needs to improve his pre-snap recognition to sense pressures and adjust accordingly. Although he can get chaotic with his mechanics, Fabiano has versatile experience at all five offensive line positions and has a NFL future if he can stay healthy."

Fabiano sounds like good grist for the Scar mill.

needs to improve his pre-snap recognition

Scar will fix that right up.

More jersey number updates.

As mentioned above, Ricky Jean-Francois gets #94. Best Patriot to wear that uniform was Ty Warren, from 2003-2010. Since then it has gone to numerous easily forgettable players: Louis Leonard (2010), Shaun Ellis (2011), Justin Francis (2012), Chris Jones (2013-15), Markus Kuhn (2016), and John Hughes (2016).

Practice Squad DL Mike Purcell was assigned #96. Best Patriot to wear that number was DE Brent Williams (1986-1993). In recent years it has belonged to Adalius Thomas (2007-09), Jermaine Cunningham (2010-12), Andre Carter (2013), Sealver Siliga (2014-15), Terrance Knighton (2016), Darius Kilgo (2016), and Anthony Johnson (2016).

Also as mentioned above, Martellus Bennett gets his #88 back. During the Belichick era that jersey has gone to Terry Glenn (1996-2001), Christian Fauria (2002-05), Kyle Brady in '07, Sam Aiken (2008-09), Jake Ballard (2012), Matthew Mulligan in 2013, and Scott Chandler two years ago.

Geneo Grissom gets his #92 back. The only multi-season starters to ever wear that jersey were Ray Agnew (1990-94) and Ferric Collins (1995-99). Since then it has been worn by David Nugent ('00-01), Ted Washington ('03), Santonio Thomas ('07), Ron Brace ('09), Gerard Warren ('10), Eric Moore ('11), Albert Haynesworth ('11), and Jake Bequette ('12-13); Grissom has had it since 2015.

Didn't catch what number Fabiano had during his 24 hours with the Patriots.

Patriots cut DE Cassius Marsh.
Signed DE/LB Eric Lee from Bills PS.

Bit of a surprise because Marsh had played well on special teams, though he did have issues setting the edge..

This move shows BB knows he needs more production on the edge. Getting Marsh just before the season started was a move borne of desperation after Rivers went down and Ealy washed out. As with most desperate moves, it came at a high price (2 draft choices). Also heard the Pats are signing former Buc WR/KR/PR Reedy to the PS with intention of activating him as soon as he masters the play book. I assume Riley McCarron will be released to make room for Reedy. Question is, who will be cut to promote Reedy to the active roster? If it's Dorsett, that means BB traded Brissett for nothing. I know these current moves are being made to bolster the roster for the playoffs, but a lot of capital has been expended with very little to show for it right now.

Clearly you weren't paying attention. The Pats had been trying to get Marsh all summer. That destroys the "move born of desperation" BS people like yourself are spewing.

And no. It wasn't a "high price". It was a 5th round pick and the 7th round pick that the Patriots had received originally as part of the trade with the Seahawks for Justin Coleman. So Coleman, who was expendable and was going to be cut, and a 5th for Marsh.

Here is a link that talks about Reedy supposedly signing with the Patriots today:

WR Bernard Reedy, cut by Bucs, signing to Patriots’ practice squad

Why do you make the assumption that it will be McCarron who will be cut from the PS? Just because McCarron is a WR/PR? The Patriots cut Geneo Grissom when they added Marty Bennett, not Jacob Hollister. They're as likely to cut one of 4 DBs as they are to cut McCarron. Heck, Mike Purcell might be cut also since they brought in Lee and Jean-Francois. And with the potential of Valentine coming back, Purcell might be the odd man out.

Now.. Not sure where the article got their information, but Deion Lewis is averaging 30.8 YPR (5th) on kick-offs while Amendola is averaging 11.2 YPR (8th) on Punts. Reedy is averaging 20.7 YPR (47th) and 10.2 YPR (15th).

The only thing that Reedy has on McCarron is game experience. He doesn't have vertical, leg strength, speed, or agility based on their measurables. Reedy is 9/100ths of a second faster in the shuttle than McCarron. Oh.. Reedy's hands are bigger by a full inch..

Reedy:

Eric Lee - DE/LB - 6'3 2/8" - 254 lbs - 33 3/8" arms - 10 1/8" hands

40- 4.72
20 - 2.71
10 - 1.60
Bench - 24
Vertical - 26.5"
Broad - 9'09"
Shuttle - 4.82
3 Cone - 7.41

Not sure how much pass rush we'll get from the kid, but he can definitely play the run. And those long arms.. if he can learn to get them into the passing lanes, that will be a good thing.

The parts in red are some concern and downright horrible compared to Ninkovich. But, as we learned with Malcolm Butler, Pro-Days aren't always the truth.. So we'll have to wait and see.
