Aren't we all going a little overboard?

When they were up by 17, they were able to sit back and relax a little bit. Maybe your definition of critical is different from mine.

Stop flailing about like a dying fish and let it go.

You point, whatever it was, has been destroyed.

All I have heard this week is how the Patriots are going to win the Super Bowl and Tom Brady is the greatest QB ever...it is as if the Packers are not going to even show up. Also can someone please note that Brady almost threw three picks last Sunday; if it is was not for the butterfingers of the Bears the whole complexion of the game would have been different.
Ever hear of Matt Flynn?

What was your won-loss prediction before the season began, OP? That will help me determine where you're coming from.

When The Dynasty starts talking defense you know you're in for one of those moments were the failure to use a condom rears its ugly head.

How is this going overboard? Can someone explain what this guy means?

Are we supposed to say Brady sucks and the Pats will miss the playoffs on PATSFANS.com?

LOL some good responses to this thread. A bunch of wiseacres; I love it.

Did you'all hear Dennis and Callahan this morning. They were fanatically pro-Belichick. This has me worried. All is not right with the world.

As far as the last two games..they were glorious victories. Not only did they beat the Jets but they destroyed them. Crushed them and destroyed their spirit. The highlight of the year (so far). It seems as if teams go to pieces now when the get behind the Patriots; maybe it is because of the Patriots improved D. Who could have predicted that the Bears would unravel? I watched the game again last night and wow; I don't think I have seen a team so snakebitten.

Isn't that a little overboard? :p

Yeah i agree to an extent i am enjoying this as much as anyone but i don't think we can delude ourselves that we are the 07 team and can just rock up to some games half assed and win.

We have been hit with alot of injuries recently especially along the DL and as you said brady gets any of those picks held onto and last week could easily have been different we only got what? 6 points in the 2nd half. I know we probably throttled it back a bit but... did we? or did the bears just play better because i know we certainly dropped 3 catchable passes in the 2nd half to stall our drives.

I love this team but i still think there is a tonne of things to work on untill i can say SB here we come

The D is the part i'm loving... we won last week because we caused 2 fumbels... both for points and picked cutler off twice (both in our half i think) that just wins you games. Also any love for arrington getting better? kid's playing well

Kyle Arrington = This Year's Randall Gay

In fact, the similarities are striking. Both unheralded UDFA's who filled in and when a starter went out for injury.

Normally I'd agree that it's a bit overboard but this team continues to mature and grow. And if there's one area they're much improved compared to last season, it's mental toughness. There are few critical penalties, or stupid mistakes, or bad decisions. And when the game is on the line, when things are tight, they make a play somehow. This is a mentally tough, resilient team.

Last year's defense was statistically better, but they blew a lot of close games at the end. This year's group is not as good stat-wise, but they find a way to win. They make big plays. They can shut down teams when they need to, like the Baltimore game.

The offense has been top notch, putting lots of pressure on the opposition, and scoring a ton of points against a really tough schedule of pass defenses. Again, mentally tough, find a way to convert a lot of 3rd downs, better in the red zone, fewer penalties. Just good, smart football.

When you have a team that doesn't turn it over much, causes a lot of turnovers, plays mentally tough, sound football, is constantly improving, is undefeated at home and has a chance to have HFA throughout the playoffs, why wouldn't you be excited?

We're fans we're allowed to go overboard. I'm sure BB keeps the team humble.

If McCourty cannot play and Butler starts this whole gigantic ridiculous bubble will burst. You can plug and play at a lot of positions but CB is not one of them...

Then again if Brady scores ever time the Patriots get the ball the D only has to stop them once....

"...this whole gigantic ridiculous bubble..." Really? You, my friend (and I use the term advisedly) are a wannabe intentional sh!t-stirrer. I've known those a lot better at it because they were clever and bright enough to disguise it. You aren't.

Not at all. If I was troll or stirrer I would bring up SpyGate or some such garbage. I am just trying to inject a wee bit of realism into these Super Bowl fantasies. I as happy as anyone to gloat over the humiliation of the Jets but the Super Bowl is not a given. A lot of high-flying teams get shot down before hoisting the Lombardi like oh well The Greatest Show on Turf.

No, the Pats won because they scored 33 points in the first half...

Offense won that game for them, Cutler being awful certainly helped as well. The defense made some plays as well, but the offense definitely led them to that win.

I'm not suggesting that Chevis Jackson could be a star for us or anything, but you picked a funny example considering we plugged in McCourty on the left side to start the season, then Arrington a few weeks in on the other side, and somehow managed to survive. Butler has improved a lot as well since week 2.

I'd obviously not like to find out the hard way, but I think, as usual, you're over-reacting a bit here.
