New England Patriots are the best team in the NFL

Why would anyone need to calm down?
For the first 8 weeks of the season, the Patriots have been the best team in the NFL. Why is it wrong to say that?
That's all I'm sayin.
Even Tom Jackson on ESPN a few minutes ago said how the league is having a lackluster performance overall with one exception...the Patriots. And he gave all the cred to BB. This is a coaching and QB league and we have BY FAR the best tandem of those two elements. In addition, you watch the play of McCourty, Welker, Woodhead, Wilfork...all the way down the line! The elevated play of the entire team of rookies, UDFA's, 2nd-year guys, and core vets has been nothing short of amazing, which follows the example of TB and BB as usual.

I hope I don't look back on this thread around Xmas with regret....

I think to myself how the heck has this team gone 6-1?

A team that has "no pass rusher"
or is starting so many young players
or loses Bodden
or loses Ty Warren
and has to go with 2 UDFA at RB
is missing Mankins
should not be 6-1

I'm happy for them and am loving the ride thus far.

You forgot the obvious....
Trading away a HOF receiver in the middle of the season who apparently was beloved by many of the players yet they lost no chemistry at all....in fact it appears addition by subtraction

this is true and I want to give a shoutout to Deadrick...

If
IF
We can maintain through this tough stretch.....
December is a cakewalk
HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE
Thanks to BB et al for making this autunm something special

Fun to see so many happy fat guys in Pats uniforms. Brace, Warren, Pryor.

First of the Steelers have something to say about that, second of all, I will wait until one team clearly passes the eye test more than any other to claim them as the best team in the NFL. I refuse to use trivial tie breakers to determine who the best team in the NFL is with that being said threads like these usually come around to bite people in the ass so I will stay even keel and say that the Patriots are one of the best 3 teams in the NFL right now.

Whoever wins the following games should be declared best team or shared best teams in the NFL

Pats vs Steelers
Jets vs Steelers
Jets vs Pats

i dont think this team is there yet..the games against ben and peyton whining will tell us how good we really are

If they beat the Colts and Steelers, they will win the Super Bowl.

Patriots win and the J-E-T-S lose..!st place New England Patriots...

Let's talk upon that. A lot of people talk about BB going for 4 and 1. In another thread, people discuss Rex Ryan as one of the top 5 coaches. Today, Ryan goes for 4th and LONG at his own 20 early in the game on a fake punt. I believe that drops him out of the top 10.
Oh yea, they didn't make it, GB kicked the field goal for that margin of victory.

Same here, can definitely make an argument for teh Steelers right now, I'm not fully convinced we are better than the Jets either.

Personally, I like to wait till January before saying we are the best at anything.

Ummmm...2007?

Ummmm what? I'm talking about 2010. If the Pats secondary can do enough to beat Manning and the offense can handle the Pitt D on the road, they will be the #1 seed and I like them to handle all comers at Foxboro. And Ill take my chances against whoever the NFC sends to Dallas. Hopefully they can get some revenge against Peyton's Afterbirth.

Too early to proclaim anyone the best. The Broncos last year were 6-1 at this point. I am damn happy the Pats will have the best record after eight weeks, but there are still 9 weeks to go.

Rob, I agree with you wholeheartedly in what you're saying it, but at the same time, you have to admit that it's extremely rewarding to be sitting at 6-1 with all of the "questions" about the team coming into the regular season. There were more than a few people who wrote this team off completely, saying that it would just be a transitional year and we shouldn't expect much.

To me, this is once again BB showing everyone why he is regarded as the best coach in all of sports and this era. He is amazing at what he does. Did you guys hear how Troy Aikman was saying that he's never been around pro athletes who talk about a coach the way our player talk about BB? That's just an amazing thing to hear. Time and again, I feel incredibly fortunate that this is the team I get to call my favorite team and watch each season, SB or not.

Was responding to this statement made by you:
"If they beat the Colts and Steelers, they will win the Super Bowl."
In 2007, the Pats beat the Chargers, Colts, Steelers Ravens, Giants (and everyone else) yet lost the Super Bowl...that's all. Proof that the regular season wins mean nothing in the end if you lose the SB...that's all.

The Steelers will miss Aaron Smith more than most people realize. And...if Troy P goes down for any length of time they will be in big trouble.

Obviously it doesn't mean they *will* win. I thought this being me posting on the Internet it would be clear that I was expressing my opinion. I sadly do not have access to Gray's Sports Almanac.

The steelers defense looks downright scary tonight

If they play that way when we come to town Tommy and company will be in for a long night

When did Rex Ryan join the board? This team is doing what it needs to do but it's far from perfect. I'll be surprised if this team can make noise in the playoffs. It's getting better but it's vulnerable at this point IMHO.
