I want to hear what Maroney apologists have to say now that he's no longer a Pat.

I wanted him to succeed and fulfill his potential (because obviously it meant the Pats would benefit) but it never happened for him. So see ya later Kool-Aid.

I was actually just thinking that they may trade him to the Packers when I heard Grant was done for the year. Interesting that Denver got him but I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

I always liked Maroney. I thought he played well when at full health. He didn't reach his potential but he still managed to make quite a few plays for us and give us a few solid seasons. I hope he does well in Denver.

And, of course, he carries the Pats play book in his head.

I'm sure Denver could figure out juke around a little, then right straight into the opposing line even without Maroney on their team.

But, I agree - if he has a monster game against us, or helps Denver get anywhere this year, that will really hurt.

I thought Maroney got a bad wrap around here, and I won't change that opinion just because BB disagrees with me now. I still believe people's problem with him was always about aesthetic style and never about results, because the numbers were always decent.

That said, the compensation isn't bad, and assuming the others stay healthy he was an extra part. I want Taylor to start whenever he's fit anyway.

Also, on the plus side, this will FINALLY put an end to all the god **** Maroney threads.

Pats had an extra 2011 6th from New Orleans for David Thomas, so they still have a pick in that round.

Had to be said. I am quite happy with this deal. BB never got what he wanted out of LM and if BB doesn't want him, then neither should we. For a minute I thought it was still Shanahan in Denver which scared me since he liked LM in the draft and had a great history with RBs. Then I remembered it was McD and I felt a little better. Now JMcD can use more of the run to set up the thunderous pass offense of Kyle Orton.

It might take him awhile to get to Denver if he dances around on the tarmac waiting for a suitable opening to emerge, and thus is late getting through the gate and on the plane.

maroney was a head case with some questionable off field incidents that never made the press...he had to go.

Two words - Peter Puffer..... just sayin'

Ask Reiss about a certain rest area - state police incident a few years back.

I think so too. But even if he does...it was his final year here, and he was only going to be one piece of a 5-man RB committee. So I guess the value equation makes sense.

Such a shame. I see the clips of him running in '07, the AFCCG and see what should have been. Just wasn't enough. Maybe Josh can get him back to that.

He and Chad Jackson are going to form their own team and "Make the Patriots pay" for their lack of faith. Chad's been training for this day for a long time now....with Maroney by his side, the real Batman and Robin will have their day.
