Mason re-signs with the Ravens

I still don't see the downside of signing TO.

-Cheap
-Most likely a one year deal and there's no cap this year
-one of the greatest wr's of all-time

And since it's a one year deal, they won't have to cut him like they did Chris Baker! This deal makes too much sense not to happen.

nfl.com/freeagency

go to WRs, look at all the UFAs.

They are all JAGs except T.O... :(

Should just sign David Tyree, he owes us some magical catches.

Golden Tate in the 2nd round anyone?

From Charlie to BB....whatchu guys think?

You mean move up in the draft so someone won't steal your guy...and have that guy be Chad Jackson?
Or are we talking about that stud Bethel Johnson?

I have little faith in their WR selections, they even pick cripples.
Maybe Josh Reed really is a stud WR that was just hiding out......prolly not!!

Jackson was a 2nd round pick, yes we moved up for him but it was a poor judge of talent.

Guys like Benn and Bryant are far better talents. Possible future #1 where as Jackson wouldn't have been even if he did pan out.

Really? No downside to TO, seriously? Anyway, Mason will probably start his annual retirement talk in the next day or two.

Well his username is Free Pacman. You can tell that he thinks like the Bengals front office. As long as a guy can play football, WHO cares about character, locker room chemistry, or criminal records? :bricks: Even suggesting bringing in TO is FAIL.

PS I could care less about over the hill, wife whipped Mason. He had his chance years ago and he passed it up. Buh bye.

Ah pissed away the Boldin opportunity due to stinginess....

Now we've seen other solid options disappear today (Bryant/Mason)

Now we are screwed unless we bring in T.O. or deal for Marshall. We are totally screwed. Drop the Brandon Tate talk and the potential drafted WR talk, that's not going to do squat this season, maybe in a couple of years, not next year. Tom Brady needs another legitmate experienced weapon opposite Moss, as a matter of fact, so doesn't Moss. Especially with no Wes.

If we don't get T.O. or Marshall, it's going to be the same ole crap as last year all over again, with Moss getting triple covererd which forces him to quit because there's no other threat to help him out.

It's T.O. or Marshall or we're looking at the Jets winning the division. What is the FO doing about this ? Have they got a damn plan ?

you forgot PK Sam....then you have Matt Slater......the pats can't afford to draft any of these special-teams-only guys......they have to have the capacity to be at least somewhat productinve in the passing game

Sam and Slater were taken in the 5th round, Givens in the 7th. Getting a quality player w/ 1 out of 3 later-round selections is actually really good.

Branch, Johnson and Jackson were all 2nd rounder. Going 1 out of 3 in the early rounds isn't great, but considering the small sample, it doesn't really establish a pattern either way.

and givens and branch would never be drafted for the scheme which they deploy now

That statement is absurd. What could possibly lead you to that conclusion?

I mean, sure... the Pats would never draft Branch now. They have no interest in 5'9" receivers who get open more with precise route running and short-burst quickness than w/ straight up speed. Nope. No room on the Pats for guys like that.

Yup, the plan is not to make knee jerk reactionary moves that you will REGRET heavily later. TO is a GARBAGE pile of a human being and over the hill as a receiver. No Thanks. Marshall is just a younger version of TO who is just as FULL of himself and he would cost a 1st round pick as well. Let the Seahawks gamble a 1st on that CANCER instead!

And just like that, that Ravens offense has just become EXTREMELY dangerous. Mason, Boldin, and Heap to go along with that running game and that defense? Jesus. Time to wrap up Reed if the visit went successfully and take a WR with one of our first four picks.

Yeah, because Randy Moss (the guy in your sig.) and Corey Dillion did not quit on their teams AND have criminal records.

TO doesn't have a criminal record.

TO doesn't have a criminal record.

Get ready to be blasted with "yeah buts..." from all angles, even though there is a ton of truth to that statement.

Criminal record or no criminal record, the last thing this team needs is TO.

This is sarcasm, right? Because no WRs ever contribute in their first year:

Crabtree
Harvin
Massaquoi
... and definitely not in Round 7 ... Edelman

And many, many more haven't contributed than have (see Limas Sweed for starters), believe me. If this is what you are banking on for this season, we're in freakin trouble. We are anyway by the looks of things.

And what in the world makes you think BB will even draft a damn WR at the rate he's going.................He might dust off Shawn Jefferson to put over at that #2 spot............

so since welker and branch are the same height, they are the same thing.......they don't even run close to the same routes....... and branch's gig was to find the seams behind the LB's and found them perfectly......

welker runs routes that has him catching balls thrown less than 10 yards about 90 percent of the time.......branch caught most of his passes in the 11-20 yard range......2 completely different WR's.....and yeah, branch had some pretty good straight line speed.....let me know if you want to know anything else about them

First we were totally screwed if we didn't resign Bodden. Now this team is totally screwed if the Pats don't sign TO or trade for Marshall?!? Really?!? This is the team that was one minute away from going to the Super Bowl with Reche Caldwell as their lead WR. And before you talke defense that year, Harrison was on IR, they rotated a bunch of guys in the ILB position next to Bruschi was was already slowing down. Eugen Wilson was toast as a FS. Randall Gay was a starting CB. Corey Dillon was so old that he was finish playing by the second half of most games and Maroney was injued for a large portion of the season.

This team is not going to make it or break it based on who is lining up across from Randy Moss. The WR corp is definitely an area of concern, but getting a big name is not going make this team a contender and not getting one is not going to make it a pretender. The Pats will need to fill in several areas, but Brady can make a guy like a Josh Reed a solid starting WR. It isn't guaranteed, but he has made a lot of JAGs look very good (Patten, Givens who was horrible before injuries ruined his career, Branch who wasn't a JAG but was pretty average as a #1 in Seattle).

I'm not banking on anything. But I'm also not throwing in the towel on the season if the Patriots don't get either TO or Marshall. We're what, 5 days into the FA season? A lot can happen in the almost 6 months before the season starts ...

Let the TO era begin.
