Which begs the question, why wouldn't Philly have tried to restructure his deal (or even cared in an upcapped season) if they thought the concussions weren't sufficient reason to walk away... I love how a player who has spent his entire career as a RB in a west coast offense would be a fit as the #3WR in our sight adjusted timing based offense. Honestly, every player who scores on your Q ratings meter isn't a tremendous fit for this team just because you've heard of him... How a player performed in another system and scheme isn't all that predictive of how he will perform in this one, which is all Bill cares about. And the risk concussions pose to this player will not be lessened by the position he plays, the risk is exponentially greater regardless of where he lines up or for whom because of the number he has already suffered in close succession.
First of all I am not a Westbrook fan, nor is he my "binkie". I appreciate his skill set. He has some of the best hands in the league and he left Philly for financial reasons. The big bonus due wasn't going to happen. They have a pretty decent new RB for cheap money for now. I don't care about "Q" ratings. I have seen you speak up about players I don't think would be a fit on many occasions but this is what this forum is for...thoughts and ideas. Weren't you on the Adam Seward bus?
I didn't say "Hey Cousins , Let's get LT". This was a legitimate thought if the price and health issue are acceptable.
Mo you have seen him flank wide in Philly as WR. Common .....you see what I was thinking. Your a smart guy. He is a better #3 than we have available right now. Third down and three.... do you want to throw at Aiken, Stanback or Tate if Welker (Endleman) or Moss are doubled? It is just a thought.
His health issues are those accelerated by more constant RB collisions. WR collisions are still part of the game but not 30 times per game. Obviously any contract has to include doctors evaluation and payment for games played and incentives reached. Philly has Macklin and DeSean Jackson and doesn't use a spread as their many offense. Westbrook brings versatility and passion which BB appreciates as in spot duty RB work like giving Faulk a breather. Center Jamaal Jackson spoke about Westbrook's pass-blocking ability: “The thing I like about Brian is he's great in the pass protection game,”. After Faulk, who do we have at RB that can block in pass protection?
For all I know BB could hate this kid and it can be a moot point.
You are a very sharp guy but how do you know he won't be able to adjust to our WR program and even benefit from our system? We have two QBs on our WR roster.
He does not have any leg issue, he can catch superbly, he is decent size, he has decent speed, he is only 30, he is great in Pass protect, he could run a few downs out of the spread as a Faulk type change of pace and he is three years younger than Kevin, and he would have terrific YAC. No he doesn't replace Kevin. He is the #3 WR ....WITH BENEFITS!
