I thought Olsen Looked good when he moved to C, and the reciever from Tulane. I'm drawing a blank.

The Pats scouting dept must be drooling over several guys on the North's defensive front seven. B. Graham, J. Odrick, A. Carrington, Koa Misi, Austen Lane, etc but another guy that stood out to me was Iowa OLB A.J. Edds.

TE Colin Peek from Alabama looked decent to me too.

Just got done watching the tape..

First off, boy was a wrong about tossing Graham in with Woods and Crable, he looks more like Freeney than Woods. He dominated that game (much like Cushing did last year, when I said to draft him).

I was spot on for my assesment of Jean Shorts Jesus, he is not a NFL (or CFL) QB. I would be shocked if he gets drafted before the 6th rd.

I thought that Ipuati looked awful, I think he really, really hurt himself. The kid Tennant from BC looked pretty good.

LeGarret Blount pushed himself up to at the very least the 3rd round. He is definately worth a look.

I thought that Witherspoon looked great at ILB, especially if you consider he played OLB all year. He made himself some money today.

I was wholy unimpressed with the Zoltan.

I thought that Marty Gilyard also helped himself today, plus he is an excellent returner.

Arenas showed his return skilles, but he also showed that he isn't a NFL CB,

Again, I was uninspired by the play of Taylor Mays.

Another one of my late round targets, Geno Atkins, made a few plays today.

On a whole, Graham was the big winner today, followed closely by Witherspoon, Lefevour (the Central Michigan QB), Gilyard, Misi.

On the other hand the "biggest loser" be far is Tebow, everything that I said would happen happned, he was uncomfortable at best under center, could not make any reads, had the ball swatted out of his hands, and was caught and brought down just after he broke the line of scrimmage.

The guard from Idaho, Impuati, whatever his name is, also dropped himself out of the first round today.

I thought that neither punter was any good.

Mt. Cody has eaten himself out of the first round.

Lagarrette Blount looks like he'd be a fit. I disagree with this assessment. I thought that it was telling that the North didn't go to Blount when they were on the 1 yard line.

Tyson Alualu has a nice burst. If he were taller, he'd be tempting to try as an end. As a 4-3 DE, I agree... But not a 3-4 DE...

Misi looks like an ILB prospect to me.

I know he got urinated on this week but I'd take a late flyer on Sam Young. He was the one on the North who gave up on the fumble even though he was lying on top of the ball.. No thanks..

Mike Johnson looked absolutely awful today.

Jimmy Graham does nothing for me. His blocking is beyond weak.

I wouldn't use a pick on McCluster above the sixth or seventh round.

Gilyard will rise but I wouldn't expect much of him as a pro. That's what people said about DeSean Jackson. And he's turned into a very good WR. Gilyard has similar route running abilities.. He wasn't used properly in the game...

It's always interesting to see other people's opinions...

Who is "The Zoltan" that you are referring to?

Great list.

1. Brandon Graham. "Brandon Graham was what I thought he would be", to paraphrase Jim Mora. A dominant pass rusher with a non-stop motor. Great player. But I still don't know if he's fluid enough to play in space, and his lack of height and reach are a potential issue.

2. Alex Carrington. I want him. Much more than Jared Odrick. He's a beast, and with 15 more lbs. will be a dominant RDE for us. I'm not sure he can play strongside 3-4 OLB.

3. Austen Lane. I want him, too. I think he'll be a pro bowl caliber weakside 3-4 OLB in 2-3 years, and a starter by 2011. He needs a lot of schooling, but the material is there, and the drive.

4. Koa Misi. Kudos to Box. He singled out Misi over a year ago, when no one knew who the heck we was talking about. I agree, Misi's upside is limited, but he is a solid, solid player.

5. AJ Edds. Just makes plays. He's not an athlete, but he'll contribute.

6. Sean Weatherspoon. Was all over the field today. I don't know how he'll time at the combine, but he was everything you could want today.

7. Dan Williams. Best defensive player on the South team, IMHO, and a certain 1st round pick.

8. Terrance Cody. Couldn't shed blocks. Not a 1st round pick right now. Needs to get into shape.

9. Javier Arenas. A great STer, but a nickel corner at best. A slightly better Ellis Hobbs.

I'd say Arenas is a notch below Hobbs as a CB -- but agree he's a nickel only.

Very accurate with the rest of your observations, and IMO at least one from #'s 2, 3, 4, 6 will be donning a Pats uni.

It's always interesting to see other people's opinions...

True enough.

On Gilyard, I should qualify my opinion by saying that with the exception of Mike Williams last year, I am almost always wrong about wide receivers. I have absolutely no idea what I am talking about when I judge them.

I think you might be wrong on Blount. He's an arch knucklehead but it looks as though a defender would need a machete to bring him down 1 on 1.

And on Alualu, there isn't much available to say this with any certainty but I think he looks like a rich man's Jarvis Green. He'd look awful playing two gap all game long but he'd be a great guy to have as a 3rd down rushing sub.

An observation about Blount. He get's the ball in spread option situations, delay or counter action. Even though he's a big guy, he does'nt stike me as a downhill runner. On the other hand, B. Tate looked great coming out of the eye, straight downhill with wiggle. I guess if I had to pick between a back coming from a spread option backfield or a staight up eye back from the SEC. I like Tate.

About time that people see what I see of Tebow.

I support signing him as an UDFA.

Flyin'
Odrick showed a lot of what the Pats would ask him to do. Controlled the blockers, pushed them back and disengaged at the right time.

Tryin'
I really like what Misi showed in the game. He was everywhere. The "3rd down walking around linebackers" formation seems made for this kid. The best part is that if the play was in front of him, he played downhill and tackled like a pro (limited YAC).

I know McCluster fumbled, but I'll give him a break since it was a solid hit and dropping the ball wasn't a problem for his at Ole Miss. The key thing for me was how quick he got into his routes and got separation. Impossible to cover. Give him an accurate QB to get him the ball on time and in stride, and he will get you a couple of big plays every game.

Cryin'
Lindley and Arenas are just not very good. The North QBs were awful and yet they still were able to pick on these guys. I wouldn't even pick Arenas as a return guy just because the smell of toast might stick to other DBs on the team.

Implyin'
Graham got the MVP but he was more sizzle than steak. One trick pony in this game and that trick will be harder to pull off in the NFL. Only saw him with his hand on the ground and the Pats likely won't play him there. That being said, his one trick is good enough that I would look at him in the 2nd round. Just not at #22.

Patrick Robinson was the biggest tease in this game. Jumping routes and knocking down passes. Will likely test really well next month. But watch an FSU game and it is a different story. Good QBs can manipulate him with pump fakes and double moves. When he isn't gambling, he seems to lose focus or get bored and inferior receivers get the better of him. There isn't a player in this draft that must be avoided more than Robinson.

I agree with this. Not at 22, and he will likely go sooner as a pass-rushing DE. I can't see him lasting to 42/44, which is the earliest I would take him.

North Roster game impression:

81 Alexander, Danario WR - Who?
44 Alualu, Tyson DL - 3-tech stud, could play the 5-tech but wouldn't be as dominant.
52 Asamoah, Jon OL - DNP.
27 Asante, Larry DB - Hitter, but not a need/value for NE.
68 Beadles, Zane OL - Struggled some, but the South didn't really get a lot of pressure on the North QBs and the North run game looked decent.
25 Bell, Joique RB - Yards after contact, best RB in the game.
9 Blount, LeGarrette RB - Looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane.
29 Brown, Chris RB - DNP, injury.
9 Butler, Donald LB - Sideline-to-sideline, but limited value for NE.
5 Canfield, Sean QB - Reserve QB.
96 Carrington, Alex DL - Solid against the run, will be more effective rushing when the DC can use stunts and opposite side pressure to help him find space to move. May be best as a 5-tech.
4 Coleman, Kurt DB - The soft coverages didn't help him, but he limited damage.
2 Cook, Chris DB - No real impression, but I recall him getting some air time from Charles and Mike.
82 ****erson, Dorin WR - Helped spring runners, may not be suited for WR, but H-back is a strong possibility.
83 ****son, Ed - I'll need to look for his blocking, but he had a nice long gainer.
72 Ducasse, Vladimir OL - Struggled some, but the South didn't really get a lot of pressure on the North QBs and the North run game looked decent.
54 Edds, A.J. LB - Good 4-3 LB, could be the WILB, but NE doesn't need one.
8 Ford, Jacoby WR - Still raw, but there's some potential value.
18 Ghee, Brandon DB - Inconsistent.
1 Gilyard, Mardy WR - Draft him mid-to-late second.
55 Graham, Brandon DL - Speed rusher, South O-line helped him look great, was manhandled at the point of attack in first quarter run.
89 Graham, Garrett TE - He helped his QB.
16 Hoomanawanui, Mike TE - I didn't notice him in the game.
77 Iupati, Mike OL - Quickness was killing him inside, NE already has that problem.
31 Jackson, Rashawn RB - Nice job at FB.
67 Lauvao, Shawn OL - Struggled some, but the South didn't really get a lot of pressure on the North QBs and the North run game looked decent.
13 LeFevour, Dan QB - Third round, decent value for NE.
28 McCarthy, Kyle DB - Centerfield, not needed.
21 McCourty, Devin DB - Solidified a second round value, good option for NE.
42 Mesko, Zoltan P - Hanson feels comfortable.
10 Miller, Lonyae RB - Was helping himself until that late fumble, still a late round option.
40 Misi, Koa LB - Remains my #1 OLB prospect, mid-second for me, probably third-fourth round for NE.
91 Odrick, Jared DL - Strengthened his late first/early second grade, remains a viable option for NE as a 5-tech.
55 Olsen, Eric OL - Struggled some, but the South didn't really get a lot of pressure on the North QBs and the North run game looked decent.
15 Pike, Tony QB - Decent reserve QB prospect, second round value.
23 Price, Taylor WR - Disappeared in the game.
90 Schofield, O'Brien DL - DNP, injured.
11 Skinner, Terrell DB - Did a good job limiting damage as a centerfielder.
56 Smith, D'Anthony DL - Good 3-tech/4-3 NT, a bit short for 5-tech, but a mid-round option.
14 Swenson, Brett PK - Okay.
65 Tennant, Matt OL - Solid second round value.
95 Thomas, Cam DL - I like him as another NT option depending on the Wilfork situation, not so much a 5-tech.
5 Thompson, Syd'Quan DB - Better fit for Indy.
79 Wang, Ed OL - Struggled some, but the South didn't really get a lot of pressure on the North QBs and the North run game looked decent.
41 Washington, Daryl LB - Nice looking 4-3 LB.
12 Weatherspoon, Sean LB - He didn't disappear in this game, we don't need him but he got'er done.
1 Wilson, Kyle DB - He's not as strong in run support as I'd like, but he could develop into a Pro-Bowl cover corner.
93 Windt, Mike - Got it done.
74 Young, Sam - Struggled some, but the South didn't really get a lot of pressure on the North QBs and the North run game looked decent.

They new Hoooshyurmama.... :D

I noticed him in the huddles almost all the time. They never went his direction. They had him lining up mostly on the left side. He occasionally chipped at the line, but was non-existant otherwise.

Any reason my Asamoah didn't play??? Strange for him not to unless he was injured..

Rotator cuff day one or two, hopefully it wasn't serious enough to limit him at the Combine.

Damn.. Not good..

We don't need guards with shoulder injuries..

89 Graham, Garrett TE - He helped his QB.

Did he look slow to you? He seemed to do fine in the game but I worry that he will have trouble separating in the NFL. Last thing we want is for Brady to hold the ball an extra second to allow his TE to come free.

40 Misi, Koa LB - Remains my #1 OLB prospect, mid-second for me, probably third-fourth round for NE.

What about "jack-of-all-trades" LB? He was all over the field and always seemed to be around the ball. Does that flexibility make him more valuable? Or just raise questions on how to best use him?

91 Odrick, Jared DL - Strengthened his late first/early second grade, remains a viable option for NE as a 5-tech.

I've been talking myself out of Odrick at #22 for a while now. I'm not sure why. Maybe I have a repressed PSU hangup. I'm over it now and if the draft falls in a predictable way, I like Odrick for the Pats 1st pick.

90 Schofield, O'Brien DL - DNP, injured.

Why not use a late round/comp pick and give him a red-shirt year? Give him a year of playbook study, film watching and weight training and see if he turns into Bruschi Jr in 2011-2012.

95 Thomas, Cam DL - I like him as another NT option depending on the Wilfork situation, not so much a 5-tech.

Man, did he look strong. He was solid for UNC, taking up space and letting their playmakers on D do their thing...but I don't recall him handling lineman so easily. Wondering if the South OL was just that bad or did he step up.
