It's easy, and only takes a few moments.Yeah, opposing Ds not having to at least account for Moss and then being able to really pile it on Wes. Can you imagine the jubilation throughout the league? I know he's a tough little SOB, but the man can only take so much abuse before he snaps in two. Makes me cry just thinking about it!
No one has ever confused Randy with Hines Ward... why would you expect that to change 10-11 years deep into his carreer? He just isnt that kind of a player. But it's not anything new.
I think Moss has been playing hurt all year. I think his back has been a problem. I think he gets loose enough to give a 1st half effort but the 2nd half of games he's in a lot of pain and struggles with it. I don't see Moss as a faker at all - I think he's been playing injured all year.
It's possible, could be the reason why he hasnt practiced on some Wednesday's this year.
What is a dog-faker?
If you check the teams he has played you will see most of those receiving yards came against scrub teams with scrub secondaries.
Once again I am not saying Randy is the player at fault but I think he could be doing a bit more on offense in critical games such as making those over the top catches he has done so well in the past.
I look at a player like Robert Meacham who has been unstoppable lately, yet he does not measure up to the talents of Randy but his efforts have gone over the top lately,Randy needs that same type of fire back.
Comparing a couple of hot games from Meachem to Moss is ridiculous. Moss's "hot streak" this year is FAR better than Meachem's streak right now... but that's not even the point. Meachem isn't the focus of that NO offense. The focus is stopping their running game, Colston, Shockey, then Meachem/Henderson. We still don't really know what to expect from Meachem. Moss, on the other hand, is a legendary receiver who is the focus of our offense. Meachem faces teams #2/3 CB and doesn't see a lot of double coverage while Moss faces teams #1 CB and is almost always double or even triple covered.
I'm still in shock that people mention Meachem in the same breath as Moss. Unbelievable.
As for the "Randy doesn't do anything to win games or come up big", it's a bit ridiculous. He has had 5 100 yard games and has scored 9 TDs on the season.
I think the Buffalo game at the big season was a big example of why Moss can't always "perform" at the end of the game. If you recall that game, Brady and the offense was having success with Moss early in the game. By the 4th Quarter, the Bills started focusing on taking away Moss, so Brady went to the other receivers who were wide open. Welker, Faulk, and Watson all stepped up on the two last drives. I think the real question is: where did Watson go?
Here are all of Brady's INTs this season when throwing to Moss:
Game against Jets:
NFL Videos: Jets 16, Patriots 9
Brady overthrows Moss into double coverage, Moss tries to break it up and goes and tackles Revis after the INT.
Game against TB:
NFL Videos: Tanard Jackson INT
Brady throws it right to a DB when Moss was double covered. It was a terrible decision and Moss didn't have a play on the ball.
Game against MIA:
NFL Videos: Patriots 27, Dolphins 17
Brady underthrows Moss while Davis makes a fantastic play.
Game against IND:
NFL Videos: Antoine Bethea INT
Brady makes a bad read and throws deep into double coverage. Bethea tricked Brady and was able to get back and make an easy pick in the endzone. Moss chases Bethea down after the pick.
Game against NO:
NFL Videos: McKenzie INT
This was the slant route that Brady threw way to late. Moss had already broken up the field because he was covered and Brady made a terrible decision. He threw it right at a DB.
NFL Videos: Saints Defense Highlight, WK 12 vs. Patriots 2009
Brady is under pressure and makes a terrible throw. He underthrew Moss by probably 15 yards.
Game against MIA:
NFL Videos: Vontae Davis INT
Brady makes a bad throw (way to low, right to the DB) to Moss in the endzone. Moss tries to break it up but the DB is on the ground before he can.
Brady has thrown picks because he has made some bad decision or bad throws, not because Moss doesn't fight for the ball. The tape never lies.
Great post and I hope those that doubt you actually take the time to look at the tape. Randy Moss is human and makes errors just like everyone else on the team. He missed a block on a 3rd down screen pass in the first half and that screen pass ended up coming a 1/2 yard short of a first down. If Belichick questioned his ability to "fight for the ball" I doubt he'd constantly put him in to defend the hail mary.
I am so disappointed that there is so much criticism of Moss after the Miami game when the production crew on that game did a great job of showing replays that showed how much coverage Moss was getting. On the Aiken TD, the only S on the field ran to Moss's side immediately at the snap leaving nobody to help on that side of the field. When Welker was tearing it up in the first half he was getting single coverage from the Dolphins 3rd cb...think that might have to do with Randy Moss?
The guy deserves to be criticized just like anyone else on this team, but the level some take it to is ridiculous.
This is not a lack of effort by any means, but he just needs to take it into another gear
Brady tries that and gets accused of forcing throws and making bad decisions because Moss doesn't back his play by fighting for tough catches. He did early in 2007 when he was in his prove it phase. That guy disappeared down the stretch and he has never returned. He will still make a play on occasion that leads some of us to believe he could do it more often. But he is firmly wedded to a philosophy of waiting on defenses to be lulled into mistakes where he can catch the ball in the open and not dragged down or hit hard. Maybe he believes the team needs him for the big game and he doesn't want to risk injury. But we're not gonna make the big game unless something changes and he didn't show up the last time although as that game unfolded our OL had as much to do with his limited opportunities as he did. Thing is when you know your opportunities are going to be limited it's imperative you make the most of them. Brady tries to, he cannot do it alone.
Moss is a great player and is a top 5 receiver in the league, but what is frustrating fans is his lack of production in losses. With the exception of the Colts game he has been held to 1, 2, 4 and 5 catches in losses. Yes he is getting double coverage, but elite receivers find ways to get open. Games like yesterday frustrate fans when they see him score on a big play in the 1st quarter and then disapear the rest of the game. This is not a lack of effort by any means, but he just needs to take it into another gear when the team needs him most.

What makes you think it's that way? How about it being the other way around? That they may have lost because Moss was successfully shut down?
