Re: OT: Colts Marlin Jackson out for season with ACL injury

I know you're new and young and brash, but the main forum is for relatively intelligent football discussion, including with visitors of whom workhorse is one of the more welcome and regular rival Colts posters. If you want to spew juvenile fanboy blather that generally just exposes you as all smack and no substance fan, try the practice squad or the visitors locker room forums.

Re: OT: Colts CB Marlin Jackson out for season with ACL torn in practice Wednesday

More bad news for the Colts, Anthony Gonzalez had surgery yesterday on his knee. Not that the offense has been slowed down without him, but they may be without him for the rest of the year too.

I want to see the Colts fall apart, but never because of injuries.

Re: OT: Colts CB Marlin Jackson out for season with ACL torn in practice Wednesday

Losing Marlin Jackson doesn't hurt against a normal 2 wideout set however where it really hurts is when we go to nickel. He was coming back to play Nickel back for us and is really where he was best at.

Even when he started he slid down to play NB against 3 wideouts. Kelvin (the other side starting cornerback) is having knee issues since coming back, he has been playing but has missed 1/4 of the snaps in his games back. That would mean that Tim Jennings would have to come in and he is just awful.

That would mean our secondary would be a 3rd round choice (Powers, who has been lights out), an undrafted free agent (Lacey, who has been a nice surprise but takes chances) and then floodgate Jennings.

Brady will pick Tim Jennings apart, which means that Bethea will slide over to help which means Moss or Welker will be 1 on 1 with a rookie. Ugh.

Re: OT: Colts CB Marlin Jackson out for season with ACL torn in practice Wednesday

That will be the big matchup, will the speed of the youngers secondaries be able to overcome the inexperience.

Will Peyton be able to atake advantage of their inexperience or will their speed catch him off guard.

I like our DB's chances for disrupting Peyton's rythym when they meet. McGowan, Bodden, Springs, and Merriweather aren't exactly wet behind the ears and I like the way Butler has been playing. he could end up with a pick or two in that game.

Hopefully, they take care of business against Miami and stay healthy.

I don't mind if that's the reason since that represents a matchup of sorts of franchises and teambuilding philosophies. Polian pays his core whatever it takes to retain them, including potentially overpaying an aging or injury prone core talent, and lets middle class experience walk and he rolls the dice on replacing it in the draft and UDFA signings and relies on his coaching staff to make it work. He is basically FA adverse. And while there is more than one way to get it done, the overall track record shows that while his formula also works against the cap and works well in the regular season it lags rather dramatically in the post season. The year after their lone SB win in over a decade on his watch they filled out the roster with 19 players who had never set foot on an NFL field. And he did that not because he thought it was a swell idea, he did it because he had no other options... And in the end that set him up for a return to the one and done phase of postseason play.

Well, if losing Jackson and Hagler and Gonzalez getting surgery on Thursday wasn't enough, Bob Sanders made yet another trip down to see Dr. James Andrews (I hear he has his own parking space at this point) to examine his elbow.

I read somewhere someone opining on how his contract is now literally based on his per game salary...making him arguably the highest paid player in the league...

This is why I always laugh when I hear Steve from Fall River go on his rants on the radio how the Pats could have had him over Ben Watson. Yes, he is far more talented than Ben Watson and is an All Pro when he is on the field. But the guy is hardly ever on the field.

Sanders has only played in 47 out of 87 possible games in his career (regular season only). The guy has played in more than 6 games in a season twice in his career. Watson has played in 62 games over the same timeframe which is almost a complete season more in a 5 1/2 year career each.

I would rather take a lesser player who actually is on the field than an All Pro who has missed more than half the season in three of five of his season due to injuries and looks to be on track to make it four out of six season.

OT: Glass Sanders visits Dr. James Andrew

Per: Twitter / Adam Schefter: And Colts S Bob Sanders vi ...
Colts S Bob Sanders visited with Dr. James Andrews yesterday to see how severe his left elbow injury is. Still awaiting word on it.
To keep on pace with all the other Colts threads I figure this warranted its own thread. Anyway though doesn't a visit to Dr. Andrews mean its something more serious than being out a couple games...?

Re: OT: Glass Sanders visits Dr. James Andrew

How many Colts injury threads do you guys need?

About 3 more should just about do it. ;)

It's interesting in that last year it seemed like we were losing guys left and right. It got so bad we had to re-sign Junior Seau........ er.....

Anyhow, just interesting to see how an upper tier team like the Colts manage these injuries. Also a little spooky that your coach (I think) recently made a statement about this being the injury time of year... Odd.

Re: OT: Glass Sanders visits Dr. James Andrew

Looks like Sanders and Hayden are out a month or so (and the Dolts generally underestimate injuries). With them and Jackson gone, I'm gonna kind of feel bad for us if we lose to them. I know they have A LOT left but if we had all these starters out we'd be down in the dumps for sure . . .

"Indianapolis Colts safety Bob Sanders will require surgery to repair an injury to his left elbow and miss an undetermined amount of time. Also, starting cornerback Kelvin Hayden is expected to miss up to four weeks with a knee injury.

Coach Jim Caldwell confirmed the team will be without two of their starting defensive players, perhaps for at least a month, this morning."

Hayden out Colts

Kelvin Hayden-DB-Colts Nov. 6 - 12:02 pm et

Colts LCB Kelvin Hayden will miss up to four weeks with a knee injury sustained in Week 8.
Nickel back Marlin Jackson (ACL) is already out for the season, so rookies Jerraud Power and Jacob Lacey will have to handle starting duties against the Texans' high-powered passing game this week. The Colts have a resilient secondary, but the recent string of injuries will make them a better fantasy matchup for the next month.

That's at least the 3rd time I have read you say fake 0 this week. It's not fake, they have won every game they have played, they can only play the teams that are on their schedule.

You want to say untested 0 that would be accurate, but fake 0 is just wrong.
