Re: OT: Jets' Leon Washington carted off the field [merged]

A bit of a surprise to see all the afc east teams winning today. I only expected 1 of them to win, and that was us!

Re: OT: Jets' Leon Washington carted off the field [merged]

That said, what sucks for Washington is that he has been complaining that the Jets haven't redone his deal or given him an extension. Some even thought he would hold out. Instead he came into camp, played hard, and now will have **** to show for it. That is too bad.

Agreed 100%. Washington was a day-2 pick in 2006 and has been a tremendous performer through 4 modestly paid years, doing his job despite his contract frustrations. A devastating injury now could change the whole course of his life.

Not only does that suck for Washington, it's an example that's bound to stick in the minds of every other player who finds himself in a similar situation.

Re: OT: Jets' Leon Washington carted off the field [merged]

I wish to convey to the Jets fans the same wishes for a speedy recovery for their player that they wished for Tom Brady when he was hurt last year.

Re: OT: Jets' Leon Washington carted off the field [merged]

Too bad for Washington it happened in a contract year. He had an offer from the Jets in camp and elected not to re-up.

Oh, that sux. :(

Re: OT: Jets' Leon Washington carted off the field [merged]

I don't like the Jet's but I do enjoy watching Washington run ... I wish him well ... sad day for him.

I agree. He's one of of my favorite players. He make a LOT of guys miss, and plays VERY hard. Maybe the Jets will now play hard ball with him, and he can have a great 2nd career replacing Kevin Faulk. ;)

Ha ha, I celebrate every Jest injury. Sorry, I hate them and wish them nothing but the worst.
You know, BFan, I think you're one of our best posters, but that's just totally not cool. I have no love for the Jets or the fans either but that is just taking the game way too seriously.

Not so fast. I think NO is going to come back roaring in the 2nd half.

Man, thats potentially 2 huge blows to the jets. last week they lost their best defensive player, and this week they may have well lost their best offensive player. Thats got to hurt them down the road.

Re: OT: Jets' Leon Washington carted off the field [merged]

He is out for the season according to Adam Scheffter's twitter...

Compound fracture, broken fibula

That's terrible for him. My best wishes for a complete and speedy recovery.

Re: OT: Jets' Leon Washington carted off the field [merged]

Couldn't happen to a better group of fans, but it's hard to wish an injury on a guy like Leon Washington. I've got no reason to dislike the guy, and a broken ankle just sucks. Hope he recovers well.

It's the leg and a bad one at that.
I hope Belichick sends him a nice get well card because if the Jets don't resign him, it wouldn't shock me to see the PAts offer him a 'prove it' incentive laden contract once he's healed and rehabbed. Belichick always liked guys who have killed the Pats in the past ( e.g. Welker) and Washington always seemed to have the Pats number be it kick returns, receiving or rushing....

JETS RB key Injury

Report: Leon Washington to miss season

Washington
Leon Washington will miss the season with a broken fibula, according to Mike Florio of profootballtalk.
Washington will undergo surgery in Oakland because the bone broke through his skin, raising fears for infection. It's a crushing loss for Washington, who has turned down competitive contract extension offers from the Jets. Broken bones usually don't mean long-term damage, though, and Washington is expected to recover in 12 weeks. Shonn Green will get more snaps and should be picked up in all available leagues. Sucks to see anyone hurt, but I'm not sad to see it make the jests just that much weaker, IE sympathy for the player, not the team.

Maybe BB can work out a deal with him now. I mean, I'm sure the jests wouldn't mind considering that's how they typically do business. ;)

Re: JETS RB key Injury

Glad the smiley face is gone.
I like watching good players, no matter what team they are on. I just dont want them to do well while playing my team, the Pats.
Besides, TJones usually hurts us pretty good himself

Leon is a great player who I have a lot of respect for. I wish him the best with his recovery.

Re: OT: Jets' Leon Washington carted off the field [merged]

First off, it's definitely a bummer for the guy. Leon Washington seems like a good competitor and it's always more fun when it's our best guys against their best guys.

Second, it seems like the Jets are definitely being bitten by the injury bug this year. This after they have been one of the healthiest teams in the league the past few years. I really can't think of a single substantial injury they've had during that time and now they have Jenkins and Washington.

One thing I've always wondered is whether injuries were essentially random or whether some teams are just inherently healthier than others. Certainly the Jets would have been and example of a consistently healthy team and the Pats (particularly in the secondary) would be an example of an unhealthy one.

Maybe things are just evening out for the Jets...
