Troy Brown on Hobbs

5 of those 10 interceptions were ones that you could have made had you been playing in Samuel's space.. Heck.. Rosie O'Donnell could have made those interceptions.. Because they fell right into Samuel's lap thanks to the pressure from the D-line and LBs.

...and also thanks to the system.

Having said that...he did make the picks...and on several took them back to the house.

Asante was missed last year...no question about it.

I know but the team had no other option .....and he had a bad groin to boot (wasn't returning punts because of the injury).

Horrible match-up.

this is why i liked hobbs. he played with those kind of injuries. the coaching staff should never have left hobbs alone in the end zone with burress with a bad groin. apparently, peyton told eli that the pats like to blitz at the end of the game - eli was ready. it was an all out blitz on that play and when hobbs turned around it was too late. not his fault though.

Brady clearly said to the reporter all smuggly that they actually think they can hold us to 17 points. I would've glady been happy with at least getting 17. It would've sent us to overtime. SO JUST GET OFF OF HOBBS BACK. ITS LIKE KICKING A GUY IN THE NUTS WHILE HES PASSED OUT. HE DID NOT SINGLE HANDEDLY COST US THE SUPERBOWL

I agree. That quote was very unlike Brady and really un-Patriotic. Having said that... one thing people forget and it really has nothing to do with the TB quote, but I never hear this mentioned....
I’m not one to blame injuries for any loss and I think the Giants played great in the game. But people that look back on that game (like many posts in this thread) never seem to mention the fact that Brady was injured. Hell…he was in a walking boot the entire 2 weeks leading up to the game.

Brady had limited movement in that game and due to this he simply couldn’t avoid the rush like he has been able to do most of his career.

To take it a step further it’s quite possibly the reason he was injured in his first game played since the SB loss (in last seasons opener against the Cheifs). Brady actually said recently he felt not playing in the pre-season (last year) hurt his timing and his release and insinuated this may have caused the knee injury. He went on to say he didn’t play the pre-season because he was recovering from a foot injury.

This is same foot injury that in my opinion cost the Patriots ring number 4 and the perfect season(not Hobbs).

People are bashing Hobbs, a former Patriots' player, over comments which we don't even have in front of us.......

The regular season can't get here fast enough.

He did bash him pretty bad. I was shocked. Felger made a comment about his kick return abilities and how he was always a threat to score on kick returns. Troy responded (close to an exact quote :D) "yeah but what good is it when he gives it right back".

I have always been a Hobbs fan, but after listening to Brown last night I am willing to admit that I could have been very wrong on him. If it was an OL making the quote it wouldn't have held much weight with me. But this was coming from a WR who obviously practiced against him regularly.

Thanks for the input, so Troy really DID bash Hobbs, wow:eek: Obviously I was wrong but I'm surprised too. Owell, an ex-player would know better than we do and Troy doesn't bash people easily. Interesting.

I'm with you as far as Hobbs goes, he wasn't my favorite player and a few times I wanted to throw something, but he's also made some great plays in the past too. Maybe we had it all wrong:confused:

And that was just one quote. He made other comments like "well, the secondary is better, by getting Hobbs out of there and bringing in guys like Bodden and Springs". He clearly said getting hobbs out of there several times.

I would go back and get exact quotes, but I deleted it from my DVR after watching it.

I find it very hard to believe that a person as Classy as Troy Brown would say anything derogatory about a former teammate.

Since this is the only place I've heard this talked about, I am going to have to say that the OP more than likely misheard what was said since he can't even tell us exactly what was said..

What was the name of the show that this was on? Does Comcast have some exclusive show that isn't shown on Time Warner? Something smells and its not Hey Bro for a change.

The show is called Sports Sunday. It is hosted by Felger and is on every Sunday night on Comcast Sportsnet. The episode referneced by the OP is currently available on Comcast On Demand. I can't speak for what is available on Time Warner.

Troy's comments are being relayed correctly.

Troy was on during the 2nd segment - said Brady looked great, says Edelman has the skills to be a Brown/Welker type player, talked about 3-4 vs 4-3 and how putting Seymour in the middle can improve the pass rush, and then he talked about the secondary.

Troy said not once but twice he expected the secondary to be better because of getting Hobbs out of there. He did also say Hobbs would give one back on D after he ran a kick back.

Kinda weird Troy would go on about a former teammate. Maybe Ellis tried a move on Troy's wife at a staff party.

I would have to say Hobbs seems perfect to cover someone like Welker. And right now i would say Hobbs would have done a better job than Wheatley against the eagles if he were still on our team. And about the superbowl, Hobbs was the only person that capitalized on a turnover with that pick that the pats did nothing with. They could have at least attempted a 50 yard field goal with his pick but Nooo. In that game Randall Gay, Asante, Woods, and Merriweather all failed to capitalize on potential turnovers.

And no one was on Harrison's back. Yeah he was most likely tired from always being on the field because of our bad offense that game, but he held the tight ends in check almost the whole game but when it counted in the fourth, Kevin Boss ran wild and Tyree caught a ball that hung in the air.

And do you guys remember Brady laughed at Plaxico's bold prediction of the Giants winning 21-17. Gotta agree here. So many others choked in that disgraceful performance, incl. the zebras who didn't call OPI on Toomer (vs. Hobbs) in the 1st quarter and on Buress in the 2nd quarter, that singling out Hobbs on that final drive while downplaying or ignoring the botched opportunities that others missed, is doing Hobbs - and history - a disservice.

Wow a lot of Hate going down for Hobbs. I actually liked the guy he was an average player with a lot of passion. Now dont flame me please but I thought Hobbs was hurt during the SB ? Anyway weather he was or not I cant hold a grudge against that play with Burress concidering he is about a foot taller than Hobbs just a major mismatch if you ask me.

I think you are right. Hobbs was a good man just too small and a little bit injury prone.

P.S.: Regarding Brady's answer to Burress' boast, the Patriot-ic thing to say would've been: Well, Plax is certainly entitled to his opinion, and let me add that unless we play our cleanest, crispest offensive game of the year, we may very well not score enough to win against the team that gave us all we could handle not even 2 months ago.

That's what he should've said - for public consumption.

Actually, the one thing that I think cost us the Super Bowl was the Stephen Neal injury. Not the Brady injury.

P.P.S.: I'd rather have Hobbs here, and let Philly keep their 2 5th-rounders...at least, until final cut-down.

And not having Troy Brown (there's that name again) lead the rest of the Pats out of the tunnel, as he had done 3 times previously.

Or maybe not having Troy Brown altogether...

While the injury to Neal hurt, I think the injury to Brady was the reason why the Pats couldn't score as many points as they would've liked. Although Brady said he was "fine", I never bought it. In fact, during the super bowl, he was basically a statue in the pocket.

What cost us the Superbowl was final possession down 3 points, have all 3 timeouts left, need 40 yards to tie the game, and piss the game away on four slow developing pass plays.
