we dont need this taylor we already signed fred taylor at 33 we gotta get younger not older.

I'm surprised how much love Jason Taylor is getting. The Redskins way overpaid for him last year and way overpaid him to boot. I just don't think he has enough left in the tank to contribute that much, and we need to get younger and faster at LB.

If I were Mike Vrabel, I'd be really pissed if the Pats traded me to dump $4.3M of salary in a youth movement and then went out and signed 34 year old Jason Taylor for probably more.

Mayo, I would like Taylor at first blush, but then again you made me stop. You are right. Spending $8.5 for a 34 year old guy is not good if you can spend $10.5-$11.5m (hopefully) for a 29 year old guy.

I doubt Taylor would cost 8.5 again, but your thinking is right. Probably too much for a guy who's too old.

Taylor for the min.. No way we shell out big bucks for this guy..

but that got me to thinking.. Peppers is very much like Taylor and he excelled in a 3-4.. For a fair contract I could see Peppers fitting in.. but not for haynesworth type money

I would pass and get a young LB or two in this years draft.

much less likely than peppers, imho. a 34 year old guy is NOT what the doctor ordered, especially with the price tag he'll want. we need to be young, not old, in our linebacking corps and this isn't the way forward.

i wonder if this will put a little more pressure on the peppers negotiations (if they're even happening). the pats will want to probably sign taylor if they can't get peppers, but they won't want both. so my guess is this week we'll either have taylor or peppers on the team.

You can bank on Taylor being a Patriot.

Yea, It's like the Seau thing - I don't think Bill can stop himself from wanting to coach these guys.

I'm all for it, as long as he takes a "Super Bowl possibilty" discount.

Did someone say Brady likes this guy?

I Agree with both of you but what does BB think?

Not sure, Hold on a sec I'll call him.

I disagree with that opinion. Look at the LB corps again, it's Bruschi, Thomas, TBC and a bunch of kids. There needs to be starting-caliber youth added to the LB corps, but a vet to start outside will be needed in 2009.

In other words, signing Taylor does not = not drafting an OLB to replace Vrabel long term. In the best case scenario buth happen.

Has Taylor ever even played OLB? Or are people just assuming Taylor is going to go from being a 4-3 DE his whole career to suddenly at age 34 convert to a 3-4 OLB just like that?

Sounds like a BB player, but then $ would be the issue.

He's a 34 year old guy with NO ring and maybe 1 or 2 years left to get one.

Maybe he doesn't want big money. Maybe he will sign for vet min if it's with the holy grail (us) for aging vets that want to play for a contender.
