Is BB mad at Maroney? Was Eckel signed as a warning to Maroney?

thus starts the hate in 08 for maroney. how quickly the fans turn on you.

just a continuation of the '06 and '07 hate campaigns

ehh.... if the people of this country weren't consistently clueless, ignorant and easily swayed by likeminded fools, they wouldn't be voting Republican or Democrat over and over again, now would they?

Why do you think Eckel was re-signed?

**This one goes out to Spacecrime. :D

More comments that have no basis in reality. That's becoming your modus operandi, isn't it?

I like Maroney. I just think if you're hitting a wall at the beginning maybe use a power back for those 2-3 yarders and get LoMo in later on fresh and ready to stick it to a tired D.

I think the depth chart is almost pointless at this position with this size of RB committee. And stuff.

Hmmmmm:

OK, I started this thread in jest, mainly, because Spacecrime was ranting and saying "next they'll start a thread like "Is BB mad at Maroney? Was Eckel signed as a warning to Maroney?"

I guess no-one noticed that.

Anyway, as you were.

Again you insult people without reading the thread for context first. That's becoming your modus operandi, isn't it?

Say wha? I don't think I'm spouting a whole lot of random nonsense around here, quite frankly. When I finally do (on purpose) you attack my whole rep.

Screw you, I'm telling mom.

who else do you vote for?

no third party will ever catch steam. it's like the XFL trying to get a piece of the pie.

You should move here! We have like a trillion parties. My town even has the pot party. Funny... they've never won, but they have an excellent snack bar at rallies.

I wasn't trying to get political, honest, although it was a bit too inherent in my comment. I was just tossing out a cheap, obvious line to point out the gullibility of people in this country. I shouldn't have gone there given the rules of this particular forum, so my apologies.

I'm not a fucccc@#$5 homer by any means but how can anyone dismiss Maroney's tail end of the the season. He was definately a running back with star potential.

I agree with the haters in the the sense that yes Lamont Jordan has looked very good, bounces off tackles and is great at shifting but please, we've had samples of what Maroney can do when he is on and it's not even a comparison.

Maroney is never going to be a great back, but Kyle Eckel will never take his place. Eckel is jag at best.

I've been amazed every season when the fans turn on LoMo. Sometimes he doesn't do that well, yes, but then other games he shines. Reiss said it best in his mailbag for this week: it's ok for us to expect a little more consistency from him. All this saying that he sucks stuff is nonsense though.

Moi? Rant? Surely you jest!

I am as gentle and even-keeled a poster as you could ever find. Never an unkind word for anyone, expecially my visiting friends from far-away teams.

I am cut to the quick by your implications, but being who I am would never, ever question you or your opinion. Perish the thought. Although I do not agree with what you say, I applaud you for speaking as you do, and hope to hear more of these exciting, interesting threads that run so counter to my own thoughts.

Because we absoltely have to have a very strong running game this year and that requires multiple RBs, as evidenced by the Jets game.

Note that the Giants were able to win the Super Bowl without their starting QB in 1990, in part thanks to a strong running game. BB knows his NFL history well and a strong running game will keep pressure off of Cassell.

We were carrying 5 RBs with Brady and Eckel is more for special teams.

I think Eckel is mainly for special teams. I don't think the presence of Eckel makes our running game any stronger than it is now, and I cannot imagine the Pats having SIX RBs active for any game. (Now watch them activate all six for the Lphins game.)

Signing a 7th running back is imminent.

OK, quick show of hands here: anyone ever figure we'd be watching a Patriots team with six running backs before we saw one with six tight ends? :D

What Maroney did last year means nothing. Bill only cares about this year. I am however very curious as to why Jordon played so much. I heard Maroney had a shoulder injury, but if that's the case, why did he come back in for one run? I don't know. I've always felt that Maroney has great speed, and ability, but doesnt hit the line very quick, or with power. Either way, I like the kid, but I am starting to like Jordon just as much.

While we're speaking of last year. This is what he did last year, and I would love for someone to explain to me why we would think he was great LAST year.

3 100 yrd games. 1 was against the jets, and 1 against miami.....regular season, not so good. Playoffs, outstanding. So why are people saying he's so great??? Now just we're straight on this, I LIKE MARONEY, but im not going to say he's great till he puts together 1 great season. So far he has not.
