I recently came across a link to Jim Mora's famous "You Don't Know" tirade to reporters:
Mora is (in)famous for his 125 regular-season NFL wins as head coach (Saints and Colts) without a single playoff victory.
Just a reminder that when we bulletin-board types question Bill's personnel decisions ("Cut Cannon!") we don't know all the facts. We don't really know who's playing injured and we don't know who actually screwed up on plays that look bad. We don't know who is freelancing and we don't know who ran the wrong route. We don't know who gives their all in practice and who doesn't. Or maybe the problem is actually a coaching mistake - asking a player to do something that's not really in their skill set.
It's a lot easier for us when things go right. You don't have to have a Belichickian football IQ to appreciate Julio's toe-tapping catches or Edelman's miraculous catch or Brady's amazing Q4/OT performance. And it's reasonable for us to analyze strategic decisions like when to go for it on 4th-down. But please show some restraint on player criticism - this season's performance shows there is a good chance you are wrong.
