It sounds like he wants to come back to Boston, and he didn't do too badly last time he pitched in the postseason here. . . .

I kind of want A.J Burnett more at the right price.I want Beckett, Dice K, Lester, Burnett and Wake as our 2009 rotation.

Depends on who else we could get, but I would not be disappointed with Lowe.

I love d lowe. hes proved he can pitch in the high presure boston market. The last guy i want is burnett. the only time he stays healthy and in the rotation is when hes pitching during a contract year.

As a Yankees fan I actually wouldn't mind seeing, and maybe hope, the Redsox sign Derek Lowe. His stuff is simply not good enough for the AL, nevermind the AL East. His last two seasons in this division were abysmal, and his statistics in an inferior NL West, are overvalued by playing an unbalanced schedule in the leagues two best pitchers parks. Basically, any AL team that gives him a big money deal, might end up tremendously disappointed. Him sucking in the AL is obviously not a guarantee, but in disecting his career track, and the splits, it certainly is a very likely possibility. I'm praying the Yankees don't try to sign him, as some have suggested.

Burnett reportedly turned down a 4 Year $54 million deal from Toronto. So that should tell you what kind of dough he's going to be looking for in the open market. Some pundits think he's going to get 4-5 years at $17-18 per. Great stuff, but at those numbers, buyer beware.

I think he priced himself too high for the Sox to think of him as a good signing. I think he ends up in NY.

Burnett is not gonna get 17 to 18 million. He can dream but he aint getting that type of money even from the yankees.Thats overpaying for a guy who isnt even an ace.

He will come close. Starting pitchers get huge money no matter if they are good or not.

When Carlos Silva gets $48 million over 4 years, I think AJ Burnett can get $55-60 over that same period. The economy is the only real variable here. Will teams be spending crazy coin like in years past. I've read they might not be, but I think the top guys will still get their money. Burnett might not get $17 if teams are worried about cash, but $15 per is probably a real likelyhood.
