Along with fixing the offensive-line play, new offensive coordinator Jeff Davidson, a former O-line coach, has been charged with improving a stagnant running game. The Panthers signed former backup DeShaun Foster to a four-year contract last year and handed him the starting reins, but he didn’t appear elusive and he wasn’t powerful enough to run up the middle. They drafted DeAngelo Williams in the first round, but he showed a knack for darting to the outside. Davidson told a group of reporters at the Combine that he is just beginning to evaluate the backfield personnel: “I’m comfortable, but until I see them in live action … I’m going to walk the fence on that one,” Davidson said. Neither runner fulfills head coach John Fox’s desire for a power-running offense. But keep an eye on Patriots RB Corey Dillon. If the Patriots grant his request to be released, Dillon is just the type of between-the-tackles bruiser the Panthers are looking for. Dillon has a Panthers connection: He worked with Davidson when they were both with the Patriots in 2004

What's interesting is that DeAngelo Williams runs a lot like Maroney. He could be a good fit here as the Panthers run a lot more than the Pats to.

Re: Dillion to Panthers?

1. His name is Dillon
2. They dont need Dillon(Foster, Williams, Shelton, Goings)
3. We can all start a thread regarding where Dillon could go..dont bother
4. DeAngelo does not run like Maroney..hes not as fast on the field but hes shifty and fast aswell and hes nowhere near the breaking tackle abilities or strength like Maroney.

They got rid of Davis because hes old and injury prone..Dillon isnt much different and their power back should be goings / shelton(2nd rounder that has never played)..instead..Panthers are stupid and try to use Foster in the role that Davis had and Williams in what Foster was a few yrs back

It's definitely going to be weird to see Dillon in a different jersey next year.
