Wilson and Dennard.... more interceptions than all other Pats DBs combined

Even for a 2nd round pick?

Sure! Because they needed a safety, badly, and Wilson was the best available. (Fun fact: the next three safeties drafted after Wilson have combined for ZERO GAMES PLAYED this season. Only one of them is injured.)

You'd rather they'd stuck with Sergio Brown? :confused2:

I didn't get a chance to see the first TD that he allowed, due to the coverage of the CLE/DAL game in OT which pissed me off more than I care to admit. From all accounts though, he was supposedly right there with his man from what I understand--which is obviously a very good thing...

Well it didn't go exactly like that. He was very close to his receiver but made a cardinal mistake by letting the receiver undercut him while he was very close to the back of the end zone and an overthrow was basically out of the equasion.

But he himself was the first to admit that his technique was poor on that play.

Other than that, I know that he has propably gotten some heat in here, but his outside technique impressed me. Even though many people in here said that his interception "wasn't him making a big play", it was actually caused by his good technique. He had outside and over the top responsibility on (Wayne?), with 2 guys covering the zones underneath, and when Luck tried to throw over the underneath coverage and to his receiver, Talib was in perfect position to get the INT on the overthrown ball. His job wasn't to play lockdown there, just to make sure that sideline/over the top throws were unavailable.

Also his awereness of the QB and his actions was awesome compared to what our other CBs can do.

His ability to regulate the cushion fluidly was also a positive. In fact when I went to see the game again, I noticed that most of the times when Luck had his coverage as his first read, Talib closed down the receiver and Luck had to look elsewhere or wait for the coverage to fail (which didn't happen on those occasions) until he was forced to throw away.

Also his tackling looked better than I'm used to with our secondary.

But he did make a few mistakes on the second/third read throws, when he was on a slow developing route and couldn't follow his receiver throughout his route due to a misstep (he had 3 slips in the game), a poor judgement call (bad read on the QB) and just falling behind. But obviously he wasn't in 100% game condition.

Re: Wilson and Dennard....

It is just good to see safeties making any plays after what took place last season, when they were basically absent for the entire season. For as much grief as this secondary takes, and much of it is completely deserved, they are still very young and inexperienced and have both a great deal to learn and a high ceiling athletically. In short they have a pretty promising future imo.

You have to take the BPA. Wilson was not the BPA. As for the bit about the next three safeties - doesn't mean anything to me because the most interesting safety prospects on the board were cornerbacks. Ebner is more intriguing than Wilson is, honestly.

Maybe they can teach the other guys here how it's done. Maybe corners kind of forget without good coaching. McCourty had a lot of ints, but now not so much. Even Arrington had a lot of ints.

Dennard hasn't learned yet to not look for the ball. Hopefully he won't and coaches will realize that looking for the ball and deflecting it is actually a better stragety than just tacking the guy once he makes a 25 yard completion.

Fortunately we can all take this for what it worth, which is absolutely nothing, as you don't know what you are talking about.

This is a message board. If you are looking for opinions that are "worth something" then go outside. As for the latter accusation, I'll let Wilson address that with his shoddy play.

Wilson's a rookie. Even Mark Barron has up and down this season. But if you've already seen enough to conclude that Nate Ebner is "more intriguing," maybe we can simply note that you're not high on Wilson and move along.

It's inevitable that people are going to hate on Wilson for a while. Nobody had him going that high, and everybody wanted somebody else. A few people are able to look past the pre-draft bias after guys are drafted, but many people are going to hold it against that player either for his entire career or until he proves people wrong.

I think Dennard is similar to Asante Samuel. I also have a lot of faith in him even as a late round draft pick.

Maybe I'm too high on Dennard, but it looks like that even his draft grade before punching the cop was too low (2nd-3rd round). He looks like he should've been considered a 1st round corner. He sticks to his WR, makes plays, and when he's beat he's right there. His game speed is way faster than his bad CB forty time of 4.53 too. He has #1 CB potential.

The only real negative is his height, a shade under 5'10" it appears as he looked a good 2 inches shorter standing near Ridley.

Dennard plays nothing like Samuel.

Actually there are plenty Of posters who have something worthwhile to add to discussions unfortunately given your initial posts you aren't likely to be one of them. It was bad enough that many of the faux draft experts ripped Wilson endlessly when they took him but those who continue to act as if they were right when he leads all rookies in takeaways look like complete idiots who refuse to allow reality to intrude upon their poorly formed and uneducated conclusions. Wilson has made some mistakes but overall has played well and made those who ripped him look every bit as uninformed as they truly are. Reading and regurgitating Kiper et al doesn't make anyone an expert, it just fools them into believing they are.

Many of the early (Jan/Feb) mocks had Dennard as a late first but he dropped as the process moved towards. The draft. The arrest is the only reason he fell so far, and it's likely many teams thought they could get him as a UDFA's but Belichick saw the value and took the risk. Great move, looks to be panning out. They may well have the pieces for a really good secondary mostly in place, and Beilichick may finally have gotten his secondary picks right.

OT but you should go to The NFL subreddit - American Football on gameday. They have gameday threads for every game that includes free streams of the games you can watch on the internet. Front Row Sports is typically the best place for this.

Beats missing the game man.

Thanks buddy, much appreciated.

I actually have Sunday Ticket, so I can usually catch all the games no matter what. In this instance though, you cannot watch a Sunday Ticket game IF the local network is broadcasting that game, which makes sense.

Sometimes you can get caught in the middle though, if the early game goes into OT (like the stupid DAL/CLE game did) and they continue to show that game until its conclusion, which they should.

I ended up missing the entire 1st quarter, which I was not happy about. If it happens in the future I will certainly check out the site you have recommended. Thank you.
