Why do they say we run it up?

We get up 14 points and pass and everyone says we're running it up and the other team should take out TB's knees and teach us a lesson, etc etc. Yet, the Saints are up 21-0 and are still passing and no one says a word?? I swear everyone hates us.

This is the NFL, there is no "running up" the score. If you don't want the other team to score, stop them. Or, you can be the SD Chargers and stop yourselves by being stupid.

Those who say "running up the score" are confused with Pop Warner.

I know what you're saying, but I'm remembering the Miami game a few years back, think 2007, where we were up by the same amount, at about the same time in game. We got slammed by the commentators, media, opposing fans and opposing players (of several different teams) for "running it up" on the poor dolphins.

This Saints/Colts game is no different. Yet, the Saints get a break because they are "good" as opposed to BB's "evil" I guess. I bet no one will talk about the Saints running it up tomorrow.

BTW, if I didn't know better, I'd almost think the colts were going for SFL (Suck for Luck) sweepstakes. But nah, they'd never throw games for that. Not the colts, they wouldn't even dream of throwing a game to let another AFCS team into the playoffs

B) Our team has been winning at rate and length of time never before seen.

C) At our best, we play at a level higher than anyone has ever seen before.

D) A legitimate controversy emerged that when combined with fear, distrust, and loathe fueled mass hysteria and hatred for our coach, team, and accomplishments.

And that is what blows my mind! I can understand being hated by everyone, but come on, try not to be so biased. Just because its the Pats trying to keep a lead doesn't mean they are trying to run it up. We've been burnt many times in the past 5 years for taking our foot off the pedal, why shouldn't we try and keep scoring? Hell, I remember a playoff game fairly recently that we took our foot off the pedal and ended up losing. To colts I think. And I think that was when BB started his whole "play for 60 minutes" spiel.

I think the Packers run up the score more than any other team out there. One game this season they went for an onside kick when they were up something like 24 - 3. Pats play to win they don't play to run up the score.

I remember people complaining in '09 stating that the Saints were running it up on us. It'll be interesting to see how many of you are still singing the "paid to stop" tune in a few years when Brady and Belichick are gone, we suck, and the other team is running it up on us.

They could be trying to throw the season as a way to get the #1 pick. If this is the case the team should face a large fine, lose a draft pick, and be bannded from making the playoffs for the next three seasons. I call for a full investigation.
