Why didn't anyone block Hightower?

We should send hightower more. I don't know how many times he has rushed the qb.

We are sending HT through the middle quite a lot actually. He rarely rushes around the edge though.

To me, this is one thing that somehow isn't being discussed even though it was among the most critical turning points of the game - our comeback basically began when three guys gang-tackled Tevin Coleman brutally the play before, and took him out of the game. I would like to know who they were, but it seemed like Branch, McLellin and Flowers.

As a result, a tired Freeman came in instead of resting and had to replace Coleman. The next play, he basically stood there waiting for someone while High raced straight past him, blowing his assignment and causing the turnover.

This was the result of sustained pressure eventually causing the Falcons to get tired and break and finally start making mistakes. Once that ball started rolling, it just picked up momentum.

Bingo!

Just that- being tired. They were starting to make plenty of mental errors at that point, being exhausted from playing that relentless cover 1 built on speed, against a team that had a bottomless bag of formations, alignments, and plays.

Fantastic post. Screenshot of that play below.

1. Logan Ryan rushes around the edge (CB blitz) and wraps up Coleman's ankles instantly.
2. Flowers blows through his blocker and hits Coleman head on. (First one to contact Coleman)
3.Branch pushed his block back into Coleman.

So I think they are the three players you are referring to.

4. Nink is there setting the edge.
5. Brown ends up at the end of the tackle. Prior to the snap Brown shifts left and switches gaps.

Flowers was impressive. He exploded through the line.

My Novice opinion. Ryan's blitz was the key to the stop. I think the play was designed to bounce outside to the left. I'm almost sure it was. Ryan being there blew that up.

Freeman was doing, "whatever he wanted on offense."
Yeah. I think it's in his Contract...you know, in the Standard Diva Rider, Paragraph 32..."Team agrees that Player may decide whether or not to block oncoming Defensive players if he feels they are 'just too big' or 'too goddam fast'..."

Dude, that was awesome, thanks. I agree, it was Ryan's blitz that made the play and Flowers laid a big lick on him.
