Why, again, was Jeff Green necessary?

With the news that Shaq is out for the year, I have to revisit the trade Danny made, and at this point, it looks like an even more unmitigated disaster.

Consider:

Perkins averaged 25 MPG in the 2009-10 playoffs (27 if you exclude the game in which he was injured, and the ensuing game he missed). Perkins averaged 36 MPG in the 2008-09 playoffs.

Heck, even, Nate Robins averaged 7.5 MPG in last year's playoffs.

So far, through two playoff games, Jeff Green is averaging a measly 14 MPG. Nenad Kristic is averaging just 4 MPG.

We traded between 25-35 minutes of starting caliber play at arguably the most important position in the playoffs for a combined 18 minutes of BENCH PLAY, most of which is at the backup swing position, one of the most easily filled positions in all of NBA basketball.

Good work, Danny.

Celts can barely beat a Knick team with no Billups or Stoudemire. They have no inside presence. I don't think this team has a chance in the next series if they get past the Knicks. Ainge was banking on Shaq who showed no signs he'd be healthy for the playoffs. Good move Danny!
