Awesomeness ! I love at the end of it he says with a big smile "beats working though".

I think the message extends beyond the rookies, Buchanon and Moore will be feeling the pressure from Grissom and Flowers, and Devey and Kline are longshots to keep their jobs imo. If any players doubted the " just do your job " mentality then last season dispelled it, Belichick expects them all to be on the same page and is already creating a sense of urgency, which will be invaluable this season. They are really young, really good, most are experienced in their systems, and they just added a bunch of competition to the roster so it's hard to not be optimistic about them.

This is going to be a really tough team to whittle down to 53.

Drafting last in the 2nd round carries with it a bust rate that is over 50%.

This is true across the league. 50% of players chosen in the 2nd round just can't make it in the NFL.

Why?

Were they not talented enough? Were they not physically gifted enough?

I bet the majority of them fail not because of a lack of physical talent, but a lack of character, intelligence, or the ability to apply themselves.

Seems to me that Belichick might be trying to turn that around and look for kids that have the character, intelligence and heart factors well in hand.

second rounders are in many cases first round rejects.

This was absolutely awesome and typical BB.

Even with 1st rounder Malcom Brown, BB was reserved, said some good things, but also said, "I think for anybody to make that transition, it takes a lot of things. Hopefully he’s got all the components that are necessary, or at least a lot of them. He’s got a long way to go, like every rookie does coming in. He’s got a lot of work to do, a lot to learn. It’s a lot different in this league, playing against a lot bigger people on the other side of the ball. But we think he’s got an opportunity to do that. We’ll work with him and see how it goes."

Meanwhile, someone like John Elway can't stop raving about their 7th round QB...give me a ****ing break...

"We looked at him on tape and as far as the quarterback position, he plays well, his feet, his technique and everything that he can do is pretty darn good," Broncos executive vice president of football operations/general manager John Elway said. "... So we really felt that he has some upside because of where he was and where he starts and his ability to understand the game of football."

For a guy who threw 11 INTs vs. 7 TDs in 14 starts.

Not hard to see the contrast.
